About the absent teachers in France : if the teacher is absent for a short period he isn't replaced most of the time. If it's longer, he's replaced. And this school is way more classy than 90% of other French schools.
If you want to boost your audience and if you live in Tokyo : try to get in touch with French youtubers Louis San (he's an hāfu, like you seem to be) or Tev - Ici Japon for a crossover episode.
Good info man ! Thanks
As French. Everything you said it's totally true. French Teachers, these day, are more absent than usual.
Our motto : Liberté Égalité et Fraternité

Example : My French teacher was sick and she wasnt here all year so she was replaced by another teacher
We never saw her

I’m in a french public school near Paris and it’s not the same at all. It’s hard to believe that it’s a PUBLIC school.
un lycée a paris aussi..
Well I'm in a private school in Paris and it's wayy smaller, so if the one in the video had been a PRIVATE school I honestly would've been even more surprised 😂😭 Not only is mine smaller but the cafeteria is also completely different, like no hand-scanning thing and you can't just take your salad yourself
Well, this school is quite beautiful compared to most. You're right though, it's probably an old building.
Just a few points to clarify:
- He meant that the schedule for a same day could be different between a week and another. It's generally week A and week B. For instance, on monday of week A from 9 to 10 you could have French class, and on week B, geography. And then repeat this pattern. The rest of the day will remain the same though. It's just 1 or 2 hours that will change. And yes, every day has a different schedule.
- In most schools the bell isn't a music, it's just a normal school bell :p
- I've never seen any mixed bathroom, it has always been separated between boys and girls. I don't know why it's mixed in his school, and i'm even wondering if it's legal.
- The guy that got scolded also got kicked out of the class by the teacher. By the way, at 5:05 the teacher literally says "You're gonna shut the fuck up too" to the students because they're talking too much shit XD (happens quite a lot in public schools, unfortunately)
- We only have very normal classes (French, English, Spanish/German/Italian, Geography, History, Sport, Economics (High School), Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry, Natural sciences, Civic education (High School)). Nothing too fancy or special ^^
- Only kids in elementary school (from 6 to 10 years old) get to wait in the corridor (or at the back of the class) when punished. From 11 years old, you directly get kicked out of class and sent to the director's office or to the "vie scolaire" (like that other dude in the video :D) the "Scholar life office" if you will, who will take care of you :p
I want to agree, but
-In many highschool its "normal" to have mixed wc (I did 2 differents highschool by exemple, and there are always mixed wc + separeted wc), I heard many people in my friends who had this too
-We not have all the same classes, in France there like more a hundred differents class you can pick in Highschool, in the "general" class yeah its moslty the basics like french, history, geography, and spanish/german/italian. But there lot of class w/o economy or science, other class w/o maths, etc (by exemple I only had technologie, maths, physic and sport)
But I agree with the rest :0
@@ptitepuce491 "more hundred different classes you can pick in Highschool".... Hmmm nope.
It really depends on the establishment. It's more probable if you live in a big city and inside that big city. Outside it's really really really rare and even more to "pick" hmmmmmmmmmm.
It's most of the time only a really few basic options.
And the ones in professional highschool don't even get to pick up anything but the second language to learn.
You forgot Philosophy class and Art class. And for some schools, Music Class.
Who has never seen this kind of school in France ?
I live in france hell school is not like that!
Not me bc i'm french
My school was a little bad, it was really durty the teacher were really cool tho but be in school was not the best thing I wanted to do, but happens KEKW when you have good teacher really cool but bad school where It's legit broken everywhere, when I was going to the toilet I was feeling that I was in a prison than in a toilet, so sometimes you just wait to be back home to go to the toilet XD
No french school is like this, mine had barred Windows, and no one smiled
6:49 yes the bell sound does depend on the school
sadly
i still feel pain in my ears
Hi !! Juste wanted to say that he was in Aix en Provence, on of the wealthiest city in France, and not every school in that same city are the identical. Great video 😁
A toilet unisex is really rarely in french school and is also strange for a franch people.
Just to make it clear even if many of us already told you, this is like a premium school. Public yes, but this is FAAAAAAAAAAR from reality in like 99.9% schools here in France.
I'm a french, I was in a family that moved A LOT (14 new places in a year at the peak of us moving around), I've never been in a school that was just like 5% like this one x)...

I've been to schools in France and Italy, they were quite similar. I went to public and private schools and the difference in education wasn't very different: a few good teachers and lots of boring ones in both...
hum... the teacher insults his students, she said "La ferme !" what means "Shut your trap!"
The bell is normaly every time the same in france, for middle school and high school (and this one).
For elemantary school, I don't really know, but I think it isn't the same because when I was on, It was just a bombing alarm. And my middle school had an elementary school too. And the bell was also a music, as my middle school, but not the same.
Also the bell is different in each school. Some have the riiiing while the are schools that have melodies. A school I have seen on tiktok even has the Bts's dynamite song because the students asked to change
We study in French here in Morocco....and we have a lot of common things....but in public schools we don't have cafeterias....you can bye out of the school or take your snack with you.....we don't actually have a meal just a snack....our teachers get angry some times.....but most of the time they are super friendly
Interesting you don't get a proper meal at school ...
No 🤭 this why we envy Japanese students ....they have obinto and clubs and festivals.....we don't have this here🥺.......there is a huge difference......and actually I like the Japanese version ❤
I found albanian school in morocco
@@Ren0.M that's awesome.....i wonder how it's gonna look like !!!! 😊
When I went from elementary to Lycée (JH + HS combined) we had mostly set classes but only a few were voluntary (Bible, Arabic, English, and Spanish). We also had voluntary extra curricular activities that were divided by gender but a lot of us girls chose to do one or two activities from each gender's list. I had knitting, handball and soccer. The funniest thing I remember is the fact that most of us from class A would move together from grade 6th A, 5th A, 4th A, 3rd A, and 2nd A. After that we were divided according to our combined grades since the 6th. Most of our friends went to 1st L (for literary) and I went to 1st S (science) with the others. All of us in 1st S were so naughty, we'd play pranks on professors and the nuns and would sing the national anthem to a hip hop beat in front of the entire school, every single time it was our turn. We'd get reprimanded but would still carry on. Good times 🤣🤣🤣
Just at 1:58 I knew we were gonna talk about rich kids kind of schools, or countryside kind of school. This type of house you only have if you're rich or if it's deep down in the middle of nowhere.
This is not the same thing in all the schools in France !!!
that makes lots of sense !
@@Choppylovechoppy Yeah, but i think it's the same for many schools in the world
My school used to be in a really old building, 500 years old(In France yes). It used to be a place where religious people would live, I forgot what its called. It even had a chapel, and the field used for PE used to be a field for raising animals. Just looking at the building you can tell that it's really old and unfortunately I heard that the building would be destroyed; The school had already changed buildings.
0:56 I’m french, and I can ensure you french are not any elegants. There’s a name for psychological disease of japaneses going to paris for the first time : « le syndrome de paris » (paris syndrom). It’s because most japanese think frenchs are elegants, romantics, gentlemen… and when japaneses come for first time to paris, they see it’s in fact dirty, peoples are not any romantics, there are robbers in many places, that know japanese often have money and expensive camera, so they take it in your hands and run fast. Also, everything is completly disorganized, everyone is late, transport is late, or sometimes cancelled, and if you ask for help or refund, some peoples might be rude and refuse to help. The difference is so big that most japaneses start a depression quickly => paris syndrom.
That's absolutely not like this in all high school, really. This is exceptional
this high school is probably modern because in a normal public high school there is at least one thing per room that is broken
My grandfather told me that when he was in school that if kids were misbehaving have would be hit with a wooden oar
hi from belgium even tho i dont go to school anymore i can explain "37y old"
i went from french to dutch school so i know it well
from 3-6 year old we call it maternelle - kleuterklas
from 6-12 year old we call it ecole primaire - basis school hours schedule 8.30-16.00 wendnesday 8.30-12.00
from 12-18 year old we call it ecole secondaire - hogeschool schedule 8.30-16.30 wen. 8.30-12.00
last university 18-what you major in schedule can vary from school to school but most is 9.00-17.00 all from monday to friday
in hogeschool where i was you had 4 study type school
science -high difficulty-- to become for example doctor
basis technica - basic dif. to become for example nurse
professional - low dif. to become for example woodworker
special education - very low - to become for example chef cook
where i study the language was spoken dutch in high school and learn in second french and english
"english is optional" and can depend from school to school but french is mandatory
lunch time you can stay at school or go outside
« Euhhhh !! VOUS ALLEZ VOUS LA FERMER VOUS AUSSI HEINNNN »
6:31 it’s rare. Mostly, boys and girls are seperated. Very few places use unisex toilets, he just happenned to be in one of them.
i've never seen a private school like that, let alone a public school like that in France. And I've lived my whole life in France.
In my school we are not allowed to use phones, cameras ect but im in « collège » but he is in « lycée » and i think its allowed but normaly not during class, also his school seem very nice aha a lot of schools arent that nice, also our lunches arent very tasty and we cant really choose and we have to sit only with our class😭
6:48 most schools have standard bell
Just letting y'all know this isn't your average French school, they're usually smaller 😂😭 Also idk how it is in other schools, but in mine for lunch we only have a card with a bar code that's scanned at the cafeteria, and you can't just take how much salad you want for example
I’m not surprised at the reaction he got from the kitchen staff : filming people (and publishing a video where they’re recognizable) is illegal.
I saw comments about the class we have in France too, i’d like to say in my last year of highschool, I had no mathematics and 8hrs/week of philosophy (e.g my saturday morning was 2hr of latin, an élective class, and 2hrs of philosophy).
Also, regarding missing teachers : it depends on how long they’re absent and how short notice it was, but they’ll be a substitute teacher if possible.
Also if a teacher is 15min late to class, it’s considered that he ain’t here and the students are free to do something else.
The student that left the classroom also was told to go to the ”vie scolaire” (school life ?), the staff there being in charge of detentions among other things
In smaller town or old town, you cn often find junior high or high school in old building, not always in their best state if I'm honest ^^' in bigger city, it's usually a lot more modern. But mostly French High school are not in an amazing state, sadly, as they are gouvernement founded and don't have that much budget to put on the building ^^' for the rest, pretty accurate, except for the digital thing in the self XD....
By the looks of it this is most likely a school in a rich town.
@D Anemon Old town don't have schools that good !
@D Anemon Belgium,we share a border with France. So many things are quite similar and this definitely looks like a rich town. Looking at the houses and the way the kids were talking and everything it is a rich town.
I'm pretty impressed with your english ability :) I do appreciate Japanese culture alot :) French school may seem a bit a mess for Japanese students ;) it's cultural and due to History... here the main rule is : "il est interdit d'interdire" (it's unauthorised to unauthorise) :D
FYI, In France, 95% are public schools. Free till University... Then after it's very very cheap compared to many occidental countries.
I think it's more the provincial public schools, in big citys the schools are not the same. (cafeteria, buildings,...). Teaching is the same everywhere: punishments, course subject matter, school equipment,...
Different schedule for every weekday? Interesting, Also I wish class was canceled when the teacher wasn't there, Lol.
I like the French 'bell' for classes, pretty interesting
If the class is done by somebody else, then that overtime, and you cannot force someone to do overtime, and even then their is limit to how much a teacher can do overtime.
Don't really look as the schools from my city. I come from a zep and it's totally different. Maybe that's the difference between rich and vanilla cities 😐
*YOU ARE BOTH ADORABLE !!! Un Salut de la France !!!*
Yes the bell music changes every year in some schools. Students can propose music, and all of them vote for what i will be this year. I heard ac dc's intro like back in black, or intro of smells like teen sprire from Nirvana. ^^ As long as it's under 15 sec you don't pay fees i guess.
But some schools still have regulars and not that fun bells. You must have annoncent speakers to have music and some do not have them (cause too old). I would say 80% of schools have music. And it's way more relaxing indeed.
And btw, using cell phone during class is so not legal. Funy to hear you say "funy" when teacher basicaly says "Shut your mouth!" Lol In fact it's mostly students that can have that kind of langage in school. And basicaly get away with it. Punishment will be light. Most do not have respect of teachers and structures. They can for exemple let paper under their desks.

not all school are that way and to be honest that's a long time ago that i have leave classical school! for the building some schools are in old building and some in "new" public school don't have uniform (and you can't wear visibaly any religion sign) but some private one have there is a girl school like this in my town! for the food place that'z right it's normaly a "self" and for the "punishement" normaly the "perpetrator" os send to the " vie scholaire" to get a punishement befiting but there is no " standing in from of the classroom with bucket off water" and secondary school ib frabce are pretty harsh for the teachers many schooler parents don't want to listen to the teacher thinking their child is perfect and if he is punished it's not there kid fault but or the teacher fault or other kids fault so they act harshly to the teacher never wanting to hear or accept their kid is at fault! ( oh and before i forgot i'm french but older than these kids)!
0:32 it’s funny, in france, ties are only for men, but in japan, it’s for women ?
I really doubt this is a public school. It seems like it's inside an old abbey which means it may have been a school where religious people were teachers, and those are always private schools.
Also the guy seems to live in a wealthy family. Although it's not impossible to see wealthy people in public schools, they usually go to private schools, because they can afford them.
I went to a public highschool and the building looked just like an old palace.Look "lycée saint just", lyon
Actually it's a public school. It used to be a monastery or something like that ( I can't remember exactly) but today it has nothing to do with religion ^^
Im french and the toilet are not unisexe
I'm french too and in my highschool, the toilet are unisexe. Maybe it depend of highschool but it's so weird to have toilet unisexe because the toilet was not unisexe in middle school x)
