Very cogent comments. Enjoy your interviews, work, and philosophy about painting. From one artist to another of the same generation..."well done!"

This was beautiful Eamon. There's something really calming about Brian, the video was over before I knew it.
Am not an artist but I can relate to that angst he described. Creativity is definitely a struggle at times and it can be a challenge to let go of the influence of past successes. Also it seems common that creatives like Brian struggle with letting a peice be finished, as once that well of creativity it tapped it's hard to cap.

This interviewer seems to have a knowledge of painters and painting. He is asking probing questions that have substance. Not illiterate stupid questions artists usually get. Good video.

Making art and the art market are two completely different animals. One is esthetics and the other is about commerce. Oil and water. They don’t mix. An artist must paint for him/ herself and not the market. The market is interested in one thing only. Selling. It does not care if the work is good, bad or a complete waste of paint. If the market can make money, everything and anything is for sale. Regardless of quality or esthetics. As soon as an artist thinks of making art for “ a market” the soul in their work dies.
This is why there are so many “ excellent” artists starving and going unnoticed.

Rule number one. Galleries are about them and the money they can make. They don't care a fig for art or artists apart from the money they can make off of them.

Cazanne and Matisse are the worst examples of good art or painting. My personal opinion.
