Very moving... In an age where the critic, historian and dealer promote themselves as the stars of the artworld, the simplicity and directness of a man facing the elements and his own mortality with paint blows all the crap away! Happy birthday George.
Wonderful film…I am 74 and a painter…he has set a standard in creativity and relentless pursuit and fearless desire to challenge and discover his visions and imagination, at a time , when most humans his age have long sense pulled over and parked for good…I truly thank him for his unique inspiration…be safe and sound
He certainly gives his all, he draws energy from the scene before him and redirects to the board. Hes also a boy just playing in the mud. Alive! Great video, in the moment, quiet, evocative. Feel his struggle physically, hear his breath. I was transported, i was present. Well done.
Didn't know George's work, but it's wonderful, his endeavors are an inspiration to a youngster like myself (68) , that I can be still going for another 10 years or more. Keep on rocking George 😉
I love this man and fellow artist!! WOW!!! This is someone who truly is devoted to their skill, talent and need to paint. Thank you for sharing this beautiful film. WOW!!!
I wish an angel somoby with a car give him a ride, and help him, and help him with material to continue work...we need his work in hospital, to help sick people get well, the world need him his inspiration to paint beautiful landcape...and good paints ,many blessing for him....Cielito...Fine Art Artist from California....
I found it incredibly moving to watch him work, to see how deep into the landscape he is drawn. Hearing his efforts as he made way to his chosen vista under the burden of his materials, all so evocative. I watched imagining the salt and sand in the oils adding forever to the authentic nature of his work. A true and powerful artist ❤️🙏
The one piece I like best is the last one. His selection of location of the bay was perfect. The colors and the foreground with the ships and sky colors are an artists dream. I am so glad this artists work came up on my feed! Beautiful talent ❤
Amazing work, lots of hart and effort put into each one it appears. After the first painting I was thinking how does he transport these wet masterpieces on that bicycle then he revealed even more genius
Outstanding Sir, hi I am Adil from Kashmir and I liked this video and the technique, the way you are doing your art works I just enjoyed watching this. Really I must say it was very helpful for me, thanks for providing us such a beautiful and skillful videos, God bless you
Yes Thank you kindly for presenting Humanity Pressing Forward and To Greater Achievements No Matter The Circumstances! Its fully Displayed of this Artist Love of Life!
I love his work = he captures movement and they are dynamic beautiful plein air pieces. I saw how he uses his hands and tools and holds them up to get the angles and direction fo what he is looking at. I am a fair weather plein air painter and sometime do this myself. Just love this - great little film. Thank you for the inspiration!
Wonderful... occasionally he seems to be having a dialogue with the work or the scene... as if to say “I know what what you’re up but I’ve got you now.”
Simply excellent. A documentary format I absolutely loved. The man is a legend, a monstrous creative and a hurricane of artistic energy. May he live many blessed paintings on. I love this man’s entire ethos, pathos and logos…I want 50 more years of him being filmed painting … no 100.
This video could have been longer it grabbed me and had me smack dab right into the day standing there watching creation at the artist own particular sight of what he was seeing. I love it and want more.
I'm not crazy about this fella's paintings, but I think this little doc is a masterpiece. I've known a few artists (married one too) and this film captures the 'creative process' exceptionally well. Gratitude for sharing your gift with us. Peace.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It's quite remarkable to see a rough and tough-looking man engaging in delicate art while talking to himself. His choice of workplace and painting is mind-blowing. He is truly an inspiration.
I have been following Iris Scott, Oil finger painter. Mr. Rowlett just took this to a whole new level for me. Oil takes forever to dry. I am so happy to have run into this video this morning. Thank you Art Space Gallery.
Every blessing to you for sharing with us valuable footage which documents this unique man's talent as an artist. This sensitive non invasive film showcasas George'sability to capture the essence of a scene through his method of using paint to produce texture to convey light and movement in his works. A truely uncompromising genius!!!
What an amazing creative narrative, what a mesmerising encounter, seeing the faithful life journey of true painter. Thank you George Rowlett for holding a mirror up to nature with such determination and bold grace.
His artwork is MOTION of CONSTRUCTION using colour, coordination, and ‘Place’ found within the natural landscape provided from within the rich tapestry called CREATION. OMAIN:NIAMO
Very intersting to see how he tries to capture the motions of the waves with his knifestrokes and how the paintings are made "in" the elements without almost any safeguards or distance. At the same time, my heart cries out at the vast amount of paint/pigment (and money) he liberally applies impasto to the canvas. This is "HARD" art. Must take forever to dry, yet he seems to get variation in fine lines and values. Good documentary.
A tremendous effort and effort deserves respect. The knowledge of paste oil paint that you have obtained and used by crushing it yourself can contribute a lot to us in terms of research, supply and application technique. Thank you for your valuable shares.
It was almost as if he was talking to the sea and rocks, trying to get their soul and direction in order to express it. The interaction was WOW. I like the use of the putty knives.
Fabulous insight into George's working process especially the Thames River and Humber Estuary. It inspires me to keep painting impasto plein air in oils and consider only using the three primaries, white and possibly Raw Umber.
This was an exceptional film. I did not know this artist's work, but it was a brave and wonderful decision to simply let the work, and the way the artist works, to speak for itself. When I saw him out facing the harsh elements I thought of Joan Erdley. Artists of their generation were made of sterner stuff. Thank you and hats off to George Rowlett, beautiful, beautiful work!
"Umm, hey can one of you camera guys help me carry these paintings??... I'm 80 years old" I like that he's not painting a scene, but that he's making art.

Wonderful comment, thank you
Yes!
So true. No nonsense.
Dealers are called “gallerists” now. I kid you not.
What do we leave behind after we pass? Every masterpiece like these are a fingerprints of love from the artist heart and soul...
Absolutely right you are!
@@reaganwiles_art don't wish your dad dead. Can you put your work on video?
That is why we paint.

'He's also just a boy playing in the mud' is a really nice expression and very apt in his case.
Gorgeous works. A tempestuous balance between chaos and control.

Well it's nice for whippersnappers like me (30) to see how much prime living is left to do. Who's to say when one will peak in their work?

Beautiful, thank you, every painter knows this in their bones. ❤️
Thank you Michael and Eva. Beautiful portrait of a fine artist.
It's like an orchestra. He feels and directs nature and carves his own notes into his sheet music.
Very cool, and inspiring, I wish I could afford to use that much paint.
Yep....
About $200 on each of those.
I hear you, I've used coffee ,then water color, and sometimes acrylic and oil.
Try making your own. Flax oil and dirt can make quite a range of red and browns
I went across the street to the hardware store. Purchased puddy knives and started painting. Thanks George.
Nice!
Upload the results!
I’m inspired to do the same.
Good luck with that. You are going to be enormously disappointed.

A man on his own ... doing his thing ... strong and vibrant ... a true artist. I love his work.

Very vivacious and strong paintings, it made a sharp change in my view of painting...
Wonderful... occasionally he seems to be having a dialogue with the work or the scene... as if to say “I know what what you’re up but I’ve got you now.”
Yes, he’s clearly involved in a very deep way. He seems to start off moulding with his hands to get a feel for what he is about to do with paint.
A real artist ,who doesn't care about the surrounding.
Edited by Eva Kraljić. Hvala draga što postojiš. Umetnik živi kroz vaš rad koji je poseban. Bravo.

The painting is his bride they banter back and forth then finally agree on something amiable. Thank you George the best to you and your bride always.

What an amazing video of an incredible artist. Thankyou for capturing his outstanding artistry for generations to come.
I've fallen in love with this work. Wish there was more in the way of intervews and studio observations with George Rowlett.
a man full of poetry
This amazing artist caused me to subscribe! I'm just stunned by his work!
Beautiful and breathtaking ❤
An absolutely beautiful piece of work. It's like a slice of a single perception of reality viewed through an abstract lens of imagination.
This is the best film of its kind I have ever seen. It is an absolute triumph in every way.

Somebody should give him a trolly to pull those heavy materials. Love those paintings.
An interesting artist. Love that he is painting his way, his style as he sees it.

Really great film. What a talent. What type of paints is he using? I must experiment with this mixture of pigment and binder.
No idea.. - but if it's " artist grade " ....God I can feel my eyes water already !
You're a really great courageous Artist/Painter George.
When I looked at that scenario, I was transferred also in the total beauty of the place!

So nice (little unexpected) to hear Feldman's ''Two Pianos'' with one of my favorite painters.
