Beautiful photos - can't believe w. bright sunlight and deep shadows you're getting such a great tonal range. Thanks for all you do, esp. these videos.
This is a fabulous series of interviews and important documentation of an entire cultural period of a city and the artists who made NYC home. Thank you.
This has been such a wonderful series, and I can't wait to see more. I'll be picking up that book for sure. Thank you for documenting these people. Even though this era is coming to a close, by capturing these stories, it will inspire future artists to create a culture for themselves, just as they did. We need our own spaces. Cheers~
Amazing space. An artist dream. I’ve always wanted to live and paint and create in a space like this. I’m so jealous but glad an artist is using this incredible space to live true to form as a creative human being
I don't want to be found, but I am living like this. In the winter I draw in an outfit that looks like I am hiking up everest. In the summer I can only draw at night so I won't sweat on my drawings. I spent one year trying to "fix" my situation. But, frankly, over the last three years I've watched my art go from one level, to the next.... ...and to the next. Now I have no desire for neither a "normal" life, nor a normal house. Nor comforts. I am able to relax and focus. Much love to you for thinking of us
No way around it, I contact you and need this work, which provides a great background for deeper discourse. No matter where art is or is created, the question of existence is present. Your work makes this part visible and resolves a dichotomy that connects art with aesthetics and haptics back to the actual reference.
Leaky roof and cold as shit....takes me back to my own time in a loft many years ago. No thanks. Never understood chilled to the bone until I lived there, never really warmed up. Much prefer my much smaller heated apartment. At least I can function.
You have given us all such a gift by sharing this artist's extraordinary story - through his words and your photos. Thank you !
This might be the most beautiful "thing" I´ve seen in a long time. Congrats and thanks!
Would absolutely love to see more interviews of all these artists you have met! Such a wonderful project and it’s great to hear their stories 💗

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Yes really wonderful use of natural light in indoor spaces. I wanted to ask - how to you achieve those? Metering for the shadows?
