Dark Souls: Soul Level 4 Dual Rapier Build - [PvE]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Just a video experimenting with a new dual rapier build: no shield, no heavy armour, no bottomless box glitch, no family mask - just light armour, the wolf and hornet ring, the starting pyromancy flame, plenty of parrying (with a rapier) and riposting, and backstabbing.
The main reason I chose the Undead Burg as the place for co-op; is because of the opportunity to fight Havel.
that move you did on havel was fucking badass
Some weapons have a special parry attack, that's way
This video. This video got me into Dark Souls, all on account of my rapier fetish.
Although when I did finally pick it up I just went with a STR build.
Starting Class: Pyromancer.
Stats: .Vitality: 10, Attunement: 12, Endurance: 11, Strength: 12, Dexterity: 12, Resistance: 12, Intelligence: 10, Faith: 8.
Weapons: Right Hand 1: Chaos Rapier +2, Right Hand 2: Ascended Pyromancy Flame +5, Left Hand 1: Divine Rapier +5, Left Hand 2: Empty.
Armour: Thief Mask +9, Dingy Robe +9, Dingy Gloves +9, Blood-Stained Skirt +9.
Rings: Ring 1: Wolf Ring, Ring 2: Hornet Ring.
I know this is super late but have you progressed towards getting the velka rapier?
what a gentleman, always bowing.
In a nutshell: used the Master Key to access Blighttown and killed Quelaag. Eingyi upgraded my Pyromancy Flame. The Ceaseless Discharge boss fight can be exploited so that you only need to deal a fraction of the damage. The Gold-Hemmed Black set offers enough fire resistance to be able to roll through the lava to the Chaos Ember (usually resulting in death with low vitality). There are two guaranteed Red Titanite Chunks in the Great Hollow, and two when you return to the Undead Asylum.
wow mopping up normal mode with a chaos rapier, I can't believe the skill
The look on his face when you OHKO'ed Havel was priceless.
It's a variation of a no shield challenge run, and I find that my parrying is better with a rapier than most other weapons. I also wanted to keep the load light so I didn't need the Ring of Favor, or Havel's Ring for the equip load boost, which allowed for the Wolf and Hornet Rings as I felt they were more essential for this run.
This character was deleted a fair while ago anyway, but I cleared the game with it before doing so.
MAN! Love this video! Someone with good gear and amazing skills helping new players out instead of invading them. Kudos I wish more DS players would do this.
He wasn't new, he knew exactly where the crystal lizard was.
That's awesome that you helped him out and how OP that build is makes me want to make one tbh
I've tested it all the way up to Demon Ruins so far, and it holds up well enough. Completing the game without a shield isn't particularly difficult, so having a second rapier in the off-hand should actually be easier than a no-shield playthrough.
Can you do a video on how you got this? Like from beginning to end :)
You're pretty good at the game, I commend you for being such a good player.
It's not often there are good players when it comes to dark souls, and that's even more rare now on the pc version because of people using trainers thinking they're having fun when they're ruining the experience for themselves.
I don't know why anyone would get angry over your videos, they're moderately informative and could help people learn to play better.
Holy rapier batman!
That glitch now pales in comparison to what can be obtained through use of a mega mule save file.
Dude the best advice I can give you, and I played Dark Souls a LOT, is not to ask for any advice! Don't look at how other people do it, don't search for answers, play the game as it's supposed to be, in the Dark, use what you find, you'll eventually get stronger and better, and will know everything about the game!
Lol at havel and knight quick demise! Wonder what his face looked like...
I had the Hornet Ring equipped, which in addition to the addition critical damage, changes the animation of ripostes to human characters.
@holtcash, I don't think there's any difference between the parrying frames, but the recovery frames for a medium shield do last a little longer.
there are tons of subtle differences in parry animations - how long they take to start up, how long the "parry window" is and how long they take to "cool down" can all vary. I like to get ones with really short animations even if the parry window isn't as big because you're punished less for doing one at the wrong time (often you can roll out of harms way or parry again)
nice helper build. excellent use of rings. thanks for the vid.
Mainly for decent physical defences and good elemental defences to the equip load.
If this wasn't in patch 1.05, I'd have to agree with you. As the Bottomless Box glitch was being used by many people who fancied themselves as low level grievers in the days of patch 1.05, helping new players out in the Burg often meant running into those invaders. The way I looked at it then was; what is a newbie learning when they keep getting invaded by players who one-shot them every single time?
1. I still had to be careful not to get hit by certain enemies and bosses, yes. Early game enemies didn't do a great deal of damage, but it was still preferable to avoid or parry them.
2. If you've just started playing this game, then no, I couldn't recommend it for beginners.
3. It took about two hours for the weapon and armour setups. The souls needed for the Pyromancy Flame add at least another hour on top of that. If you want to try something different, then yes, it can be worth it.
Outstanding Riposte Thecnique...
Well, I'm not Ayriak, but I guess I could tell some advice too :p
1. With a low level (levels actually affect defense, 1 or 2 points more every level, even 3 if leveling up resistance), weak armor (even if it is almost +10, that kind of an armor won't offer all that much defense) and low health, enemies do deal the kind of damage to get you killed if not being cautious and dodging/parrying.
2. No. This build seems to center around parrying and such, and parrying can be quite difficult for
Stand Aside! I'll handle this.
This guy parrys like a boss. Iwish i was that good
All the stuff you did, can that be done on your first playthrough? Cause, I just started playing the game for the first time, and am really interesting in the Meta.
looking good
They are the best choise at low levels (1-40) because they don't scale with stats.
It looks cool, yeah, but I think that at least rapiers have a special parrying technique or something, so I think it's a bit easier to parry with them.
I have 3 questions if you could please answer them:
1. When you get hit does it do considerable amounts of damage? (Like Havel or any Boss) Because I noticed that your armor is pretty maxed, but your Health is also low.
2. Would you consider this build for Beginners? I am buying Dark Souls this week and have been looking for some nice builds to play around with.
3. Finally, approximately how long did it take you to complete (If completed) this build? And is it worth the time?
For aesthetic you could use a divine Richard's Rapier (right) and occult Velka's Rapier (left)
Occult velkas is impossible I believe.
Velka's is unable to be taken down that path if I recall correctly, as I believe it is a Twinkling Titanite Upgrade path.
Velka's already does dark damage (occult)
I am very new to the first dark souls and I literally dont understand a single thing in this video except for who the enemies are
Its a pain in the ass to get the ascended flame weapons at a low level, how do you manage to do it? Im not an average player but it's pretty tricky maneuvering past the Capra demons worms and giant demons... Hope to see some kind of video from you about it possibly! Great build, had to of took alot of patience
everything up to ornstien and smough is the tutorial, so its ok if its easy, although it isnt normally :)
It looked to me like I was helping them?
Imagine just starting a NG and finding a summon sign in the first area for a player that is beyond over powered and kills all the mini bosses in there area for him. Also I've never seen an invader in undead burg.
Lucky, I get invaded all the time in Undead Burg
i like you help the newer players and don't invade them with this build!
Just curious, not in a judgmental way, just curious about your opinion: do you think it's fair to invade people with builds like this? If not, do you think it's a flaw in the game that there isn't a way to filter people based on power, not just level?
They do far more damage than anything you can get at low levels since you can't have 40 str/dex/whatever. And they still do comparable damage to unenchanted str/dex weapons.
LOL he prolly just saw the 1400 dmg attacks and had flashbacks of being wrecked by jerk invaders as a beginner.
It's not really pointless, duel wielding allows for even more options in fights rather than blocking and then attacking, especially if the weapon thats in the offhand is able to parry, though i will say duel wielding serves better in PvP than PvE imo
Sorry if its too much to ask i know u gave the initial stats of a pyro but what about ur stats built for your character , what are ur stats at the end of this build
Same as on here - Ayriak.
i actually use a rapier in the offhand for counterattacks against low poise builds
You both need to be in Human form, and must have the White Sign Soapstone to leave a summon sign, You would only be able to progress so far with a Summoned phantom as when you summon a Phantom it creates fog doors, which hinders you from progressing. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
Turquoise hair, fire magic, fancy swords...
Is this build ff6's Terra Branford?
there is absolutely no point in dual wielding in DS, but it's fun
because the stats are shown at the beginning :)
interesting video guy, thx
gl
wouldnt the parrying dagger or target shield be better for parrying?
only the person summoning needs to be human and you can just summon the person in the next area after the area boss is killed
Thanks
That may not be the best advice. This game is quite vast. So unless you have a ton of time on your hands to figure out every minut detail, it usually is best to look online for answers. Though when it comes to builds, people should just figure out one for themselves that fits their playstyle.
just as anyone can beat the game at soul level 1, you should try it
Yeay i found something out which i think most people know but if you can attac kfaster.for isntance i was duel wielding a drake sword and a scimatar*think thats how its spelled*and if i attacked with the schimatar first the drakesword follow up was alot quicker then attacking normall with just one hand.i suppose it can lead to some interesting elements but still by far not the best impliment.
One thing to ask..on 3:30 how did you do that kind of riposite?
Level 4 "build"....
well the glitch is fixed now.
you are the best
What's the point of dual rapier when you just backstab and riposte everything in one shot
+Blaisem at this point, there is none, but when you are weaker, it is useful.
Overpoweredblobs Awesomeblobland
What makes it useful? Never done dual wield.
Blaisem usually it sucks, as it usually works really slowly, but with weapons such as a rapier, it's good. This is because weapons in an offhand get rid of the block that a shield has for a quick attack (which is a rapier's specialty), and it usually keeps the riposte, which is the specialty of a good dark souls player.
Overpoweredblobs Awesomeblobland So off hand rapier is only good if you have a slow weapon in the main hand, so you have the option for a quick attack from the rapier to off set your slow main weapon?
Blaisem no, that isn't true, though it could work. If you use a light weapon, then you could just attack very quickly with both hands. (Sorry for the late response :P)
beginners, so it might be a little too hard to use a build like this as the first one. Better watch some beginner guides for Dark Souls, they are really helpful :)
3. Judging by the weapon upgrades (chaos, ascended pyromancy), it has taken some time. It doesn't look like something that would take a lot of time, but not something that you could whip up in a second either. At least it looks interesting.
wait how did you not one shot the taurus demon wtf? I literally always one shot the taurus demon with any build I'm going at that level
You can get the chaos ember without charred ring its on a video
They don't respawn.
I've got to call BS on that. Can you give us an example?
OP
1428 with a backstab with a chaos rapier!?
AT SL4?
The fuck...
Can u tell me what is so good about elemental weapons?
when in this video does he invade and/or kill an invader?
How do you speed run for a low level build to the chaos ember
Nice Nam = Bro :)
What armor set are you wearing?
CubeNewb The Dingy set. SPOILERS: Drops from the Firelink Shrine firekeeper when Lautrec kills her.
You can deul weild in this game? I thought you could only do that in two
You can dual wield as in have a a weapon in each hand but you don’t get a unique move set like you can in dark souls 2.
Dat build!
What did you do to get all the items needed to get everything needed for +9 and the divine weapons?
Little bit of a late reply but you can buy titanite shards off of Andre, farm large titanite and green titanite off of the slugs in Blighttown, and you can farm titanite chunks off of the Dark Wraiths in New Londo ruins. All of this can be done as soon as you arrive in Lordran
That's convenient.
Why the Dingy robes?
Invade for inf humanity
ho ho ho-ly shit
@25legoman could be cause he was hitting very weak first playthrough enemies
3:30 - Please dont try this at home.
I dont know why but I always feel a little scared while parrying the havel.
maybe coz I know if i miss it will be the end of me.
why not chaos +5?
Y! y cant I be a badass like you? I suck at dark souls!
Makes it disgustingly easy I'm afraid. Before fighting the gargoyles I always summon... just gives you an edge that you feel you desperately need. The game needs to scale with players making it an even bigger challenge. Right now, unfortunately, the game becomes child's play with a buddy.
If u used the RTSR u could one shot anything this early, although the host would fuck it up by estussing probably
Yo plz tell me how u did this bc im tryin to copy it
Very late response, basically for others who want the build: (even though he showed it)
Humanity: 13
VIT: 10
ATT: 12
END: 11
STR: 12
DEX: 12
RES: 12
INT: 10
FTH: 8
Chaos Rapier +2 (I'm assuming this is aesthetic, fire might be better for pve)
Pyromancy Flame +5
Divine Rapier +5
Thief Mask +9
Dingy Robe +9
Dingy Gloves +9
Blood Stained Skirt +9
Wolf Ring
Hornet Ring
thank you but i meant how do you farm for all this shit? how do you make the run and how long did this take?
Im assuming that they used a mule, if not then I suppose they're up to new game plus and crushing bosses for souls etc
Spartanhero613 Hes got skill its not a mule or new game plus that person he was cooping with was in sorcerer starting gear and was using the dagger so definetly not ng plus and i know the amount of skill Ayriak has just by watching his videos
Spartanhero613
Why would this be a mule? You just go get the items without leveling up much.
How did you get the second rapier
Just look it up on yt. It's called the chaos rapier
I only invade noobs with Priscilla. At SL125.
how did you parrydual whielding? :o
I mean, you can parry swords with your bare arms...which seems like a really unsafe practice
how do you get chaos weapon this early?
kill quelag and run into demon ruins. You can cheese Ceaseless Discharge and then just run down and collect the chaos and large flame embers.
wow
Hey Ayriak, since you have PS3, do you want to pvp at the Burg some time? If so I'm SL125. Also I'm on the forums at Neo my name on there is tltpp56.
...How did you get so many souls?
1.50: 1805 damage o.o
Why the divine?
Probably for the skeletons in the Catacombs
maybe he/she was there before and couldnt beat the boss?
