Mike Hock im gonna use this idea , what makes it more annoying is that the game creators made it that you have to do this to get the tail and yet they allow CLIPPING OF ALL THINGS to actually stop you from doing it in mid fight. Grimy as shit for them to do that.
This boss is a joke, so I kept dying on purpose cuz I couldn't get the fucking tail cut. Only for me to as you guys said it was the tip. Coming from farknsouls remastered x.x.
Pyromancy doesn't scale with stats in Dark Souls 1, it just scales with how upgraded the flame is. As you can probably imagine, pyromancy was OP for Soul Level 1 runs in Dark Souls 1.
igor hinokuma You can make it with a +10 shield, a few thousand souls and the soul of the moonlight butterfly. You have to talk to the giant blacksmith in anor londo to make it.
@HippyManPL If you really want that achievement, I believe it's transferable between characters. Meaning, if you start a new character and fight NG Seath, cut off his tail there, it should count towards the rare weapons.
Wow thanks for this vid, never knew Pyromancy would work so well, just ran my lvl 17 mage in and blasted tail off, half killed him doing it, failed to finish him off but still a win i think
It works like stun in the game in that you have to deliver as much damage in as short a time as possible. So either lots of attacks from a small weapon (bleed helps I think, though I'm not sure) or 2-3 heavy attacks from a heavy weapon.
I tried this on my first playthrough and NG+ and I could never cut it off. I went at it with a Lightning Dark Sword+5, Black Knight Sword, Greataxe, Greatsword, Greatsword of Artorias, Dragon Greatsword and Axe, and I couldn't cut it off...
@d123420 You have to hit the very tip of his center-most tail for it to count against his tail health, just like Priscilla's. That is more than likely your problem. If you hit the base or anywhere else it only counts against his main health. If you can, just use a weapon with a large horizontal slice. I was using a Great Scythe+15 and it's two-handed R2 made sure I never missed the tip. I got it after 4 swings.
@TheLastTwinky No. I would have been using daggers for that. However, that gives me an idea to make him when I get bored with my current character... Plus, the character in that video is female; it's pretty hard to make a nice looking female character.
The reason why he is lvl 15 yet can fight on par with this guy is more than likely due to maxed equipment. The shield he is using is the Crystal Ring Shield, made from using the Butterfly's soul and a +10 small shield. Just FYI for those asking the questions. :)
Pro tip, you want it EASIER? Wait for him to get close then destroy the ice protecting him. Now you have extra time to cut the tail. I did it with soul spear and aimed for the very tip. After the first try it worked like a charm.
Right there at 5:35, if he would have just followed him as he was turning, the battle would have been over. He can't really hit you when you are there, because he's too busy turning to try and face you. As long as you follow the 'fin', he'll keep trying to turn and you can keep hitting him with absolute minimal risk of getting hit yourself. Cakewalk fight. Hard part is getting that damn tail.
For all those who gave a like to this guy, don't act like all of you were capable of beating the game on SL1, you need to have real mad skills to accomplish that.
@commanderp69 when you skip to te part where he uses combustion you can tell the glove looks different, so its acsended. The club is elemental so its pure physical and lightning damage the doesnt scale. As for the ring shield, this was pre patch before it was nerfed.
You can indeed beat the whole game at SL1 once you are experienced enough. But also you can skip parts of the game in the beginning. For example, the first boss on the bridge, the moonlight butterfly in the forest, the caper demon in undead parish area, the gaping dragon in the depths can ALL be skipped. The only essential bosses are those required to ring the two bells (gargoyle and queelag) and all the lord soul bosses you offer to the altar (4 kings, seath the scaleless, nito, bed of chaos)
Crystal Ring Shield. It's a boss weapon. You need a +10 shield, Moonlight Butterfly Soul, and 5000 Souls. Also, can only be done with Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo. Upgrades with Demon Titanite.
@TheShammyShammy Not every dragon died in the war vs the Gods. 3 survived: -Seath -Gaptoth Dragon (but went mad, like the creators said) -Stone Dragon But still, i think its nice to see different designs of dragons like Tuska68 said
That shield was nerfed after patch 1.05 so it doesn't do that much damage anymore. It used to be based on your Right Hand weapons dmg. Now it just does a base of 150-200 damage so it is now useless.
+AShadowyKindaGuy Dispite the fact that would make complete sense, it would be completely op, and basically make one of the four lord's, the easiest boss on the game probabily, so it could not go to the game
+AShadowyKindaGuy In my experience, that's just a rumor and doesn't actually work. Seath seemed to have no problem tracking me when I used slumbering, No matter how hard I tried to avoid coming in physical contact with him (So as not to reveal my location) he still managed to turn in my general direction every time I tried to circle him. It doesn't work.
I also heard a rumor that using the ring for silence would confuse seath. The reality is he knows where you are as soon as you touch him and other than that he seems to use attacks randomly. Which can make the whole experience less predictable.
I know this is an old as he comment but if you haven't found out yet or still care your SL (or soul level) is how many souls you've gained over the entire game (no matter if they went into buying, leveling up, or you just perma-lost them) but level is just your characters level. Ive only ever noticed it in dark souls 2 where its used for matchmaking
His gear is: Maiden Hood Silver Knight Armor Silver Knight Gauntlets Maiden Skirt Reinforced Club/Ascended Pyromancy Flame Hollow Soldier Shield/Chrystal Ring Shield
I had that problem, you have to actually hit the tip. I noticed that when I was trying to cut it off, I was hitting too close to his body, hit the white part of his tail, the part with no crystals on it. Don't use those weak weapons, use something like the Black Knight GreatAxe, I know you probably got it already, but insight for other people.
Depends on what you wanna do. I play my pvp sorcerer with the moonlight gs because it's a just awesome int weapon with a homing range attack on 2handed r2 - when you shot all your spells and the enemy thinks he can just rush on you, the moonlight gs is perfect for holding him on distance
I've always thought the tail cut to get weapons was bs. It makes somewhat easy fights into a pain in the damn ass. Like kalameet. Not a super hard or drawn out fight. Until you try and get his tail weapon solo. That that shit takes FOREVER and is a bigger pain in the ass than a dick that's 100 times to big for the hole it's going in.
If this is your first character, delete it or save it for later. You need to start your first character with the master key gift. Nobody enters Blighttown through the depths unless it's a quick run for the Eagle Shield/Iato/Shadow Set, or they're in the mood to blow a good hour getting to the swamp. Get the master key, use the entrance through New Londo. Once you reach the swamp: Bonfire is to your left, boss room to your right.
easiest way is to summon phantom(s) and have them wait at the begin so they spawn at seath's tail in the beginning of the boss battle, but this is much more precise
I have the location memorized by feel, not by sight. I can find it myself, but not give directions. I found it by watching a video walk through. Eagle shield is a damn good piece of equipment. You can use it unupgraded to spar with Sif, and none of his ground attacks will break your block.
@91Turles Gaping dragon was an ancient descendant. Hes not mad, hes just an old fuck who was mutated due to all the waste in the sewers. And the stone dragon is the only Non-deformed-non-insane one that was left alive. And lore-wise, Seathe and Gaping were killed by the player. So he IS the only one alive now.
Here is how you do it. Do it in NG so you have some souls/experience/good weapons and make sure you choose master key as your gift item. As soon as you are in Lordran, use the master key to open the door where Havel is. Kill him and take the path up to where Andre the blacksmith is. Buy the Crest of Artorias, kill the gargoyles then go back to the forest and kill Sif. Then travel back to Firelink, descent into the depths via Valley of drakes area, kill Queelag in Blighttown and voila! :)
thanks mate i got it :D I am dragonslayer spear away from platinumtrophy and i dont have ornsteins soul. I have allways killed ornstein first without thinking because I never thought i could get even near the platinum. Now on NG++ nito and gwyn to go. Is it possible to borrow weapons from a friend or do i have to beat them fourth time?
This is true, ONLY start a soul level one build once you are experienced enough, even then it is incredibly difficult. And as I mentioned above, you can skip the entire beginning of the game too :) which is only recommended for experienced players also. Jolly cooperation guys, dont use Dark Souls to put others down or think highly of yourself. Be humble and respectful and help others.
this game made me really sad, i bought this game cus i think i was hardcore enough to finish it but slowly im starting to doubt my hardcore ness, im still playing it but also slowly loosing furnitures....
i've seen dragon head glitching in pvp recently (few days ago). he even defeated me with it because it was like force pulsating until i was knocked off the egde. (not tomention he was doing the drgn head action but no fire was coming out.)
i did gravelord nito fight with 95 humanity and 200k+ souls i died twice but since it's at the front i just grab it real quick. wolf ring, strong magic shield, and homing crystal soulmass has won every fight for me so far
I did it 1 hour ago... I tried this tactic, then a few another ones with pyromancy, and the last one (which worked) was: 2 chaos firebolts with pyromany flame +5 and 2 hit with the snake sword +10.
Finally, done. With fully upgraded Silver Knight Straight Sword I was able to deal enough damage quickly enough at the right spot. The boss fight is a joke, getting the Moonlight GS is a pain in the ass.
Guys u can only get his tail weapon second play threw of the game... I cut his middle tail off usin the black knight sword took about 6 swings just take ur time and u have to hit his tail in the right spot im in my second play threw now so i should get it i just beat the DLC love this game so much
Decent equipment makes this game that much more bearable. A person with soul level of 70ish with only basic equips (elite knight+6/ gold hemmed+3) will probably have a tougher time than a soul level 20-ish with silver knight set/ havel set and op rings (havel ring and darkwood grain). All in all, invest in equipment upgrading.
you cant think to do it with a spear or a drake sword, use a lightning washing pole, personally on NG+ i know 2 hits from a +10 washing pole with sunlight blade will cut it off...
@gastonie Its possible. Focus on gear instead of lvling your toon. You'll be able to handle lots of mobs that way. Just do remember that you may die in like 1 or 2 hits lol
Who knew that a simple spell could do the trick. I was getting so frustrated with this, but I watched this video and in a few tries, with good RNG, and I cut off his tail.
After slicing the tale off.... finish seathe but make sure the sliced tale won't or didn't glitch out through the wall(making it unobtainable) cause you have to pull the sword out from it. Man they should make the strategy guide easy to 'get' like that.
Very impressive fight!!! Was that your ng+ ?!?!? (since you are only lvl 15....!!!) Could you share your load out? I am interested in what armor you used... (they look pretty cool!) Also, what lvl of pyromancy are you? I haven't fought Seath yet... and I'm trying to decide how I am gonna cut off his tail... looks like pyromancy is pretty effective....!
Amazing I can't even begin to talk about how frustrating this was when he kept clipping. And do you always use combustion for tail cut-offs? My swords never do it--they always end up taking away almost all boss health and I usually get it by dumb luck.
I CAN beat the whole game by only punching, that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Levelling helps you access weapons and increases your damage on weapons with stat scaling. So no, levelling actually is extremely useful, to a certain point. Past SL 125 there's really no point as the cost to do so outweighs any potential bonuses left.
This video is a good example how to not get multiple tail hits lol Just like the fight with Gaping Dragon when dismembering his tail you have to time your swings to get consistent hits.
one does not simply walk in a boss fight with 17 humanity and 113k souls
Haha 9 years ago, but I farm 99 right off the bat, it boosts your defense ridiculously
That does not excuse the sin that is bringing 113 thousand souls to a boss fight
@@chickenstrippa not just a sin it's a death sentence
I would never risk that many souls Lmao😂
The only thing that made this boss even remotely hard was trying to cut his freaking tail.
i was more happy about cutting off his tail than killing him, the black knight glaive made it easier.
I wish you can then transition to the cutscene about the guiding moonlight and true mentor (not sure which DS game that cutscene is from maybe DS2).
Bloodborne.....
I only managed it on my 4th playthrough 🤬
I failed at that, ended killing him in the end.
Being a sorcerer is cancer in this fight, but the sword he drops is literally sorcerer's wet dream
Ikr. Cannot for the life of me get his tail to break with my current spec
@@blitzkrieg719 I had to throw on pyro flame and use GC to break it. Was annoying though because his tail id constantly in the wall.
Mike Hock im gonna use this idea , what makes it more annoying is that the game creators made it that you have to do this to get the tail and yet they allow CLIPPING OF ALL THINGS to actually stop you from doing it in mid fight. Grimy as shit for them to do that.
I have run this boss so many times...I can kill him easily, but I cannot for the life of me get that tail to break
Really? You have cut the very tippy top? I was hitting the base of his tail so hard I killed him.
same, it sucked
+Willian Henrique i cri everytim
I just want to die, I did the very same thing and now I have to go through the game again to get it :(
This boss is a joke, so I kept dying on purpose cuz I couldn't get the fucking tail cut.

Afterwalker Pyromancy still scales with intelligence it's ridiculous when ascended, but I agree it was ridiculous for sl1 runs
on the recent update, you'll receive the sword right after cutting it's tail so no need to chase the flappy thing when seath toss it around the room.
Accidently killed him trying to get the sword ;-; see you in ng+7 I guess
Looks like he's using the "Maiden Hood," "Silver Knight Armor," "Silver Knight Gauntlets," and the "Antiquated Skirt."
Its a pain. His tail is always clipped inside the wall. 10/10 game design
The secons i get to his tail he swings it around and i die wtf
4:59 wtf?
+Mighty Allfucker the shield used to destroy everything but was nerfed.
+Bubby5889 where can i get this shield?
igor hinokuma You can make it with a +10 shield, a few thousand souls and the soul of the moonlight butterfly. You have to talk to the giant blacksmith in anor londo to make it.
+Bubby5889 oh, OK but if i make that shield i cannot make the spear right?
igor hinokuma If you kill the moonlight butterfly a 2nd time in new game + you will get a second boss soul so you can make the spear too.

I take that back. The shield used in at 4:55 is the Hollow Knight Shield which is a very rare drop from the spear wielding hollows.

2 combustions?? REALLY?? man i wasted my life so much with that tail.
Fun fact: The Moonlight Sword is a King's Field easter egg, and Seath is the final boss in King's Field 3.
For all those who gave a like to this guy, don't act like all of you were capable of beating the game on SL1, you need to have real mad skills to accomplish that.
actually i forgot the name was crystal ring shield, it was a OP shield when dark souls first can out but it got nerfed.
@commanderp69 when you skip to te part where he uses combustion you can tell the glove looks different, so its acsended. The club is elemental so its pure physical and lightning damage the doesnt scale. As for the ring shield, this was pre patch before it was nerfed.
Thanks for posting this! Although I beat him yesterday then realised that the moonlight greatsword was pretty good :( ill do this on NG+ thanks!
Also, there is even a game maker that Fromsoft made called the Sword of Moonlight editor, used for making King's Field-like games.
Very helpful, got the sword in less than a minute thanks to you. Thank you
You can indeed beat the whole game at SL1 once you are experienced enough. But also you can skip parts of the game in the beginning. To kill him I normally just run to the right (or his left) and hack at that tail staying in front of him and close to the end.
"his pew pew lasers".....
man that never gets old
Thank you, this was the only way for me to solve the tail issue! Much appreciated!
Isn't Seath blind? So what's stopping us from using Hush and Slumbering Dragoncrest ring and just Ellie-ing around him?
+AShadowyKindaGuy Dispite the fact that would make complete sense, it would be completely op, and basically make one of the four lord's, the easiest boss on the game probabily, so it could not go to the game
+AShadowyKindaGuy In my experience, that's just a rumor and doesn't actually work. Seath seemed to have no problem tracking me when I used slumbering, No matter how hard I tried to avoid coming in physical contact with him (So as not to reveal my location) he still managed to turn in my general direction every time I tried to circle him. It doesn't work.
+BoneBeastKimimaro because that would be too easy :/
I also heard a rumor that using the ring for silence would confuse seath. The reality is he knows where you are as soon as you touch him and other than that he seems to use attacks randomly. Which can make the whole experience less predictable.

His gear is:
Maiden Hood
Silver Knight Armor
Silver Knight Gauntlets
Maiden Skirt
Reinforced Club/Ascended Pyromancy Flame
Hollow Soldier Shield/Chrystal Ring Shield
Duuuude!!! That was awesome! Especially the very end...nice touch!

its really cool looking huh, painting guardian waist cloth, silver knight armor, silver knight gauntlets, and what looks to me the maiden hood
Can't thank you enough. I thought i am suck at cutting that tail off, it turns out i am ambitious to attk the thicker part of the tail.
@McShiat moonlight shield i guess, but is made out of moonlight butterfly thats for sure!

How many slices of bread have you eaten
It's a pity that the shield was nerfed in the patch.it was really strong because it multiplied the sword power of the right hand

The tune that guy posted was the demons soul opening theme, best game music ever.
is there another way to get the sword the tail i coulde not CUT IT OFF I MEAN I HIT HIS TAIL UNTIL HE DEAD AND ITS NOT BEEN CUT :@
you have to attack the tip of the tail the base is no good unlike other bosses thats why his is so hard
Matthew Bumpus I attack the base of the tail fot two hours lol
Srew u seath
well now you know attack the tip (the small end)
You have to cut it in the edge of his tail not to near the body
why did combustion cut the tail so quickly? is it just as simple as doing about 2 bars of Seath's health directly to the tip of the tail?
you cant think to do it with a spear or a drake sword, use a lightning washing pole, personally on NG+ i know 2 hits from a +10 washing pole with sunlight blade will cut it off...

Seath the....Tailess? o_O
Holy Shit u got some Mad Skillz ^^
but may I ask what shield u used that makes 1k dmg I kinda wanna have it too :/
anyway nice vid mate *thumbs up*
Wait he can BREAK his own damn crystal?! That's honestly hilarious
Wow that was fast.. wish I had seen this before
I CAN beat the whole game by only punching, that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Levelling helps you access weapons and increases your damage on weapons with stat scaling. So no, levelling actually is extremely useful, to a certain point. Past SL 125 there's really no point as the cost to do so outweighs any potential bonuses left.
Seath the scaleless was easy but the sword was damn difficult. After getting the sword,I won Seth at the same try
Maximum upgraded gear does help tremendously
This video is a good example how to not get multiple tail hits lol
Just like the fight with Gaping Dragon when dismembering his tail you have to time your swings to get consistent hits.
Works great. Thanks. Although took me a few more tries on great combustion.
right click stop download. "come at me bro"
If you look at his stats, it's not hard to tell he's not cheating. He just levels his equipment as you ought to do.
How did you get here at level 15? Is there a way to skip parts of the game or a different route to open this part up early on?
