As an empty-nester of 4, these videos make me feel so good that their are women who believe home and children are the most important. Women of today need this kind of encouragement in a world that doesn't lift up this way of life. Thank you.
Im 42, and still needing insight help. My kids are 19 & 14, Im still not a great homemaker but I keep trying. Not eating the bread of idleness is difficult for me as I have been doing it many many years. Thank you for the bible verses!
I’m not a mother, I’m only 24 and I eventually want kids after me and my fiancé marry, but I’ve been trying to follow and watch a lot of homemaking videos because I would love to be at home with my future kids, and taking care of my home.. this is so encouraging.❤
I have three littles (5, 2, and 8mo) and I have been praying for guidance on how to keep a home with little children. Prayer answered! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, your faithfulness in sharing God's word, and for opening up your home to women looking for encouragement. Blessings ❤
I wish I’d grown up with homemaking as an aspiration. I only recently realised what values I want to incorporate into my life, and as a single 40 yr old woman, I’m somewhat out of time. Instead I focus on getting healthy again, and keeping my little apartment in order, while I try to find a job that’s more in line with what’s important to me.
Beautiful life you’ve shared. I appreciate y’all’s method of teaching your kids proper care of their things. And remembering who we are homemaking for. The problem God gives us are more important, we make the home for them, but they come first.
Much needed message right now! I'm currently going through learning the struggle of learning discipline in homemaking as a new wife... this was so encouraging, as well as your other videos. Thank you❤️
Thanks for the tips about the cast iron skillet care! So helpful! I also enjoyed hearing about how you boxed up the toys and stored them in the basement in order to help your kids learn how to take care of their things. That is a great idea! My mom actually had to throw away my favorite toy when I was 5 (Tinker Toys) because no matter what she did to help me learn, I just wouldn't put them away! It was very harsh, but it was the only thing that got my attention, sad to say. I DID learn after that. People might think that is really mean that she did that, but scattered tinker toys all over the house are a tripping hazard and my mom was really a gentle and loving person. She had to teach me and I learned!
I just came across your channel and am so inspired. I definitely struggle with self discipline in regards to homemaking and would love to tighten things up before we start our family. 💜
It is hard to start, but it gets easier as you get a routine down. You can do it! I feel more motivated now having kids than I did before, but it's always good to get into a rhythm beforehand. You got this!
I want to thank you for this. I've been struggling with homemaking lately. I'm raising my niece and nephew who are babies. I didn't really have time to get ready for them, and I feel so overwhelmed and have been for almost 2 years. I got each of them from birth. I needed to hear this. I already feel more connected and closer to God. I appreciate your work. Thank you again.
Thank you for stepping up and helping your family. It will make ALL the difference for those kids. I speak from experience as I was raised by my grandparents after a tragic family problem. I remember one time when I was a teenager my "mom" (grandmother) told me that raising the two of us were the best years of her life! A balm to my heart. You are an angel and doing great work!
I do not have kids yet, but as a fellow homemaker I really appreciate your videos. Thank you! Also you're a good mom and such an inspiration :) blessings! -Meg
I feel like when I became a mom that's when I really started becoming much more self-disciplined in homemaking. I suddenly found a love for cleaning since before I was terrible at not cleaning things (but I did live completely alone for a long time before that and did not have anyone to keep things up with except me). I think the temptation of ordering in food or just having Ramen for dinner is one of mine. Cooking is that one thing that I know I am going to have to work on for years in order to really love it. But it is something that excites me! Creating things is a huge part of my soul and knowing that I can create beautiful and nourishing meals does sound fun. It'll be a process for sure since I work full time and my energy levels are much lower in the evenings. And thank you for showing how to clean the cast iron skillet! I've felt like I've been doing it wrong because I have used soap before. I've usually left ours for my husband to do since he has got it down! But that's another thing I need to stop being scared about haha!😂
I am with you on the cooking. It hasn't been since this past year that I have really committed to from scratch cooking where I don't buy any box food and rarely any canned. I have never had a love for cooking. It is definitely an area I also struggle with, but like you, I enjoy the creativity. You do awesome things! You are a great homemaker and mom. Lodge says you can use soap, but when I have, I thought the food tasted like it. Don't be afraid of it. It's super easy and forgiving!
Thanks! This is the dress m.shein.com/us/SHEIN-VCAY-Allover-Floral-Knot-Split-Thigh-A-line-Dress-p-8026567-cat-1727.html?mallCode=1&imgRatio=3-4&src_module=search&src_identifier=st%3D2%60sc%3DWhite%20and%20blue%20dress%60sr%3D0%60ps%3D0&src_tab_page_id=page_pre_search1695574281846&showFeedbackRec=1
Thank you for the goal action plan! Lord knows that I need help with selfdiscipline.. With homemaking I do have discipline, i lack discipline with other things like food, watching tv and my phone for way too long. Or learning new skills, when it fails the first time, i quit all together 😂 Thank you for the tips!😊
We all lack discipline in one area or another. It is definitely easy to get sucked into technology! I am working on learning new skills now too....I definitely need to be more self disciplined to keep going, especially when it gets hard! You got this!
Love watching another Catholic mama with little ones! I have a 1 year old, a 2 year old, and another on the way. I would love your perspective on maintaining your household, patience, and sanity while pregnant and juggling little ones. I often am torn between staying on top of tasks vs giving myself rest vs giving time to my children
You are in the thick of it as well! Being pregnant is so hard, sick in the beginning and big at the end lol, it's hard to get it all done. Before I had my baby in February, I really just needed someone to remind me that it's okay if everything isn't done. We are each in different seasons, and it's important to give yourself grace. I am also working on patience. It definitely takes continuous practice. Give your body the rest it needs, so when you do go to complete tasks you have "more" energy and aren't completely drained running yourself into the ground. Keep it up! You are doing awesome!
I think it very important to know, The Child Jesus did house chores. It certainly Is growing a A discipline soul and mind in a child for God and for life skills. This gives you a break eventually, & especially when your not feeling well.
The way my mom recovered from pregnancies is that she would take a nap when the baby would nap. Since you have three "littles", I would suggest making sure you give yourself rest. I know of a single mom who was desperate to find time for herself, so she started getting up an hour earlier than her children. It took getting used to, as that meant getting up at 4 am, but, for her, that was necessary for her sanity. You have to find what works best for you. Remember that you cannot be at your best for your children if you wear yourself out.
Thanks for your wonderful insights and helpful tips, I will definitely check out these templates! I especially find it hard to keep my routines and discipline while my energy fluctuates so so much during the different stages of my cycle. In the beginning of the cycle I feel like I could rearrange and clean all the house non stop, and in the end I don’t find energy to do the simplest tasks… I will definitely use your advice and try to find the perfect verses in scripture for helping me stay disciplined! ✨
Something I really want to focus on is doing dishes after me and my fiancé eat. I have a bad problem with not doing this. I want to focus on doing better about this.
Hi, I just found your video. I think I will try to follow you some more. I think you are helpfull for me to find my way with God in being a homemaker. Can I say only one thing:? I've heard it many times by other christian homemakers, and you said it also: that we have to learn self-discipline. So many times I've heard it but I cannot remember any one who said that God will give you discipline... I mean, I can't do much by myself. Without Him and without His help I am helpless and hopeless and feeling like walking around in sucking mud... Maybe its good to tell about how you do this together with the Lord. Many times when I heard women say this, I felt dicouraged for not being as strong as you and those other women. They were so self disciplined... He is giving us the tools to discipline, we only have to take these tools and let Him help us to use the tools in the right way. I hope my words came out right. God bless you ❤
Amen! 🙏 I am 100% in agreement with it. We also have free will, given to us by the Lord, so while yes all of our strength and good we do comes from Him, we also have to use our free will to say no to the other things keeping us from His will for us. But yes, I LOVE God’s discipline 💜
We used to have a shock / noise collar and "burried" aka laid wire around our property at our old house. That worked really well, and we did flag training where the wire was. We haven't done that here, and our dog does wonder from time to time, but she's honestly a good dog and doesn't run off. We also keep her inside when we leave just in case. We bought the collar and wire from Amazon.
It probably has the same effect but I use a little shot of olive oil on the cotton rag for my cast iron pans . .I must say you are very handy ,baking eggs and all other things and holding the baby at the same time ..did not work for me because of bad back . And a daughter who would always grab things 😅.. Apple and cinnamon ...mmm🤭 ,I also make apple sauce(hope this is correct translation!) ,easy to freeze and I like to use it with chicken ,on cakes ,..different countries and different tastes ! Greats, thanks and blessings from Belgium ❤
I have tried to make applesauce but it turns out too lumpy or smooth....It shouldn't be so hard lol! I also love using it with other foods. I would love to go to Belgium and learn many things! I have done oil on rags, but I find little fibers left behind, do you experience this? Maybe I'm not using the right rags.
@westmanacademy I use rags I make from bed sheets (hope this is correct word 🙂) To make your apple sauce not so liquid , I use a little lump of butter so the apples do not stick to the pan. At a very low fire ,and cut in larger pieces. And this way I find the apple sauce not so liquid. But indeed ,it gets watery, which also depends on the type of apples used . Blessings and joyful holidays 🙏🎄✨️🎊
Hello, I came across your channel today and became a new subscriber! Such a lovely video! Looking forward to watching more. What state do you live in? I am in PA😊 --denise
I’d be interested in how you season your cast iron. We are plant based so ours is used to sauté veggies most of the time and I am still not pleased with the way items stick. I find myself using my enamel covered cast iron because my other one frustrates me so! Another great video and love the wisdom from Sirach❤🙏🏻
I saute everything in cast iron! We just did a huge veggie skillet. Once the cast iron is seasoned, it is super easy to use, clean, and maintain! It's the worst when things stick! I love Sirach and Wisdom too! ❤️ So many great verses!
Okay sorry, I totally read your message wrong. I agree, when it's seasoned there is less of an issue with sticking. Quick seasoned (like the video) I wash it, place it on medium heat for 1 minute until the waters evaporated, added a little bit of canola oil, and let it heat up for about 3 minutes. Deep season I wash, rub canola all over (top, bottom, edges) and place it in the oven at 475 to 500 degrees for 1 hour. You can also take it out add more oil and go for an additional hour. I do quick seasonings with every use (unless I use it for breakfast / lunch in a reasonable time frame). I recommend doing a deep seasoning on chilly days when windows can be opened.
7 from the Old Testament. Many Protestants consider them "the Apocraypha". When Luther split from the Catholic Church, he chose the Jewish form of the Old Testament. The Jews don't accept the books because they aren't written by prophets and were written in Greek not Hebrew. The books would've been part of the Septuagint, which is the Bible Jesus and the Apostles would've used, which is why the Church considers them "Spirit Inspired." 🥰
I bought it at Shein, but I no longer support their company. Sirach is one of the seven books removed or "separated" from the original Canon (books of the Old Testament) by Luther in the 1500s. Many Protestants recognize it as informational or historical, but not inspired by the Spirit. As a Catholic, it is included in our Bible, also known as Ecclesiasticus, Ben Sira, or Words of Wisdom. It is very similar to Proverbs. Luther also wanted to remove James, Hebrews, Jude, and Revelation from the Bible, so I believe this book (Sirach) (as well as the 6 others - just as we believe James, Jude, Hebrews, and Revelation are) all Spirit inspired and part of the Bible. The link provides more information. Hopefully I didn't confuse you. bible.usccb.org/bible/sirach/0

Do you? It was my grandma's she gave me. ❤️ I am! I love your channel, well both of them, but am very encouraged and inspired by your "This Mama's Faith" one! 😊
The Book of Sirach or Ecclesiasticus is a Jewish work, originally written in Hebrew. It consists of ethical teachings, from approximately 200 to 175 BCE, written by the Judahite scribe Ben Sira of Jerusalem, on the inspiration of his father Joshua son of Sirach. The book of Sirach is part of the Septuagint, the version of the Hebrew Bible from which the early Christians emerged. The Christian Bible contained these deuterocanonical books until Martin Luther, assuming the Masoretic text to be the original, removed them to match the new Jewish canon. Many Protestants consider it part of the Apocraypha (the 7 books Luther separated). Hopefully that wasn't confusing. Catholics believe it is Scripture inspired by the Spirit!
Just a heads up the H.E. Marshall books were written from a Protestant prospective. I think that's been the biggest eye opener for my husband and I, that we were taught "History" void of any credit given to Catholics (at best). We use Seton also ❤ and have been gobbling up the History given in light of the One, True and Holy Apostolic Church ❤ one of the best little nuggets is that George Washington had a devotion to Our Lady, her picture still hangs at his house Mount Vernon (now a museum) and had a monk come over from an island off the coast while on his death bed to be converted. Soldiers back then had to take to take oath not to be Catholic. The first slaves brought to America were Irish Catholics that were brought over by the pilgrims! It's just amazing how so many nuggets were left out. I always tease my husband, who's ancestors were on the Mayflower, that his ancestors brought mine over as slaves. I'm a whole Lotta Irish! I'll share one last one- all these cities and towns that are named after the Saints because it was tradition to name the city after the feast day they founded the city! And That's just beautiful ❤
Thanks for the heads up! I use anything against the Catholic faith as a teaching moment for my kids. We talk about why certains things are taught and believed, but why we don't view it the same. What beautiful insight you shared. I plan on going to Mt. Vernon in June, and will keep an eye out! That is so interesting! I love that many of the towns in Wisconsin are named after saints, and every 5 minutes is a beautiful old Catholic Church! 🥰
We should actually boast in our weaknesses so the power of Christ can rest on us. Focusing on our weaknesses helps us rely on God’s strength. I’m guessing you are Catholic? Sirach isn’t in the holy Bible so that is why I asked.
I definitely think we should acknowledge our weaknesses and rely on Christ to help us! ❤️ I wouldn't want us to boast if our weakness is causing us to sin. But yes, we for sure need to rely on Christ to strengthen us! I am Catholic, yes, and I do believe that Sirach has always been part of the Holy Bible. ❤️
This is the second video of yours that I had started watching. Then you called out a scripture passage and I realized that you are being mislead by the teaching of the Mormon cult . This book is not the holy scriptures ,pray for the truth to be shown to you weather you believe me or not. The Real Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Israel. Your Jesus is not Jesus. I'm not trying to be mean to you but rather I'm just trying to get you to search out the truth of what you have been taught .
This is dangerous , there has been cases where the child has been burnet, this is irresponsible behaviour, is questionable as to why she can not put the baby somewhere.
Mothers have cared for their children successfully for many centuries and held them while they cook, clean, hunt, forage or do other tasks. And we humans have survived. Don’t worry- as a mum who carried babies on my front while I did any home making I was very aware of where those little hands were and how to protect my babies. Mummies can be trusted ❤️
@@CPerry-bu1ni you can't be aware all the time, and guarantee it. this is foolish and irresponsible , and is not ture, that their children successfully for many centuries so foolish, where is your evidence successful for so many centuries? and is not true that ''successfully ', you are saying 100 % successfully, I pointed out there has been cases where babies have been injured ect. . You are putting the baby at risk , the baby will be impacted first because is in front .

I loved that, too. 😊

Your videos are really good, by the way
Just came across your Channel. This was an encouraging video. I’m not a homemaker, but i hope i can soon!

Something I really want to focus on is doing dishes after me and my fiancé eat. I have a bad problem with not doing this. I want to focus on doing better about this.
Yessss! Me too!
You do need to teach your baby to entertain himself on the floor while you work. Great video. Love your dress and apron.
At 7:17 there is a verse quoted, I couldn’t hear it very well, could you give me the verse reference please and thank you! 💗

@westmanacademy I use rags I make from bed sheets (hope this is correct word 🙂)
To make your apple sauce not so liquid , I use a little lump of butter so the apples do not stick to the pan.
Thank you! I appreciate your words! We just moved to Wisconsin. Every time I see a video set in PA, I also think they're in Wisconsin!
I made those apples this afternoon! It didn't last 5 minutes 😄
😄 That's good though! My kids devoured ours too.
@@faithfulacresfarmhouse I’m definitely going to try the deep seasoning this weekend! Thanks for your reply😊
Today I learned that there are more books in the Catholic Bible. Interesting.
Is the Homemaker's Helping Hand plan still available? Link is broken in the video description

I am so excited to have found your channel! I am a new Catholic and am so enjoying learning from you ❤
Where can I find that dress? It's so pretty!
I bought it at Shein, but I no longer support their company. Here's the link if you're interested

Nothing Fits But makes a similar dress and it's 100% cotton :)
I will look into it! Thanks!@@84AnnieK
Please tell me what zerack is. 26:14. I've never heard of it. Thank you
Sirach is one of the seven books removed or "separated" from the original Canon (books of the Old Testament) by Luther in the 1500s.

@westmanacademy thank you for the explanation. Much appreciated!!
May I ask, where you got your dress 👗?
From Shein and the apron from Walmart!
It will not let me download 😢 I’ve tried like 20 times!
You can get all the free downloads here: westmanacademyhomeschool.com/2023/12/12/free-downloads/
If you can't get it you can email me at kelsey@westmanacademyhomeschool.com
Hi! I have the same image of the Madonna doing laundry! Are you Catholic as well? I’ve been loving your channel as I make similar content 😊
Do you? It was my grandma's she gave me. ❤️ I am! I love your channel, well both of them, but am very encouraged and inspired by your "This Mama's Faith" one! 😊
It is also nice to see another Catholic homeschool homemaking mama ❤️
Yay! That’s so awesome! I would love to chat more! Do you have Instagram?
@ThisMamasFaith Yes! I'm not on it a ton, it's just @westmanacademy or you could just type Kelsey Westman and find me 😊
@@faithfulacresfarmhouse I’m not on it much either! So happy to have made a new friend with so much in common ✨💞
So settle down cobwebs, dust- go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby…. Babies don’t keep.
What is the Serach 26:24 , 7 minutes into your video?
I've never heard of that book of the Bible?
Is that the Hebrew word for
The Book of Sirach or Ecclesiasticus is a Jewish work, originally written in Hebrew.
Ordered Toups & Co face balm, but you’re code didn’t work 😩
Oh man. Did you at least get the 10% off from their site?
Out of curiosity what version of the bible do you use
I use the New American Bible and Revised Standard Version Second Catholic Edition
Hi. Where did you get your striped dress?
The dress is from Shein, but it's not the best quality. The striped part is actually an apron from Walmart!
CAN I SAY ONE WORD " EXHAUSTING. IT'S HARD TRYING TO COOK BREAKFAST AND CLEAN HOUSE WITH A BABY ON YOUR ARM.
That it is. It's hard to get anything done with a baby, toddler, or really kids in general. But there are also many rewards ❤😊
This feels like a non stop job personally that I couldn’t do by myself

The
Real Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Israel.
Your Jesus is not Jesus.
I'm not trying to be mean to you but rather I'm just trying to get you to search out the truth of what you have been taught .
I'm Catholic, but thanks for the concern.
I am so happy I found your channel and website ✨️✨️✨️🙏✨️✨️✨️
