For 8 years now, Nintendo has been very clear that they want to transition as many people as possible to NSO subscriptions. The reason they made this app is to add value to NSO. I think it makes a lot of sense, and I'm pretty sure they mentioned this at least once a year in their investor presentation and Q&A. I'm not saying it's the best idea. I'm not a paying NSO member, so I cannot use the app. But once they said it's for NSO members, I immediately thought that makes sense.
One word: Nintendo. they will always do something different than what people expect. honestly im suprised that everybody expected them to just put it on normal music streaming apps.
I think it's fine, It's free-ish since I'm already paying for NSO so it's just an extra benefit. I don't mind the extra app on my phone, I don't mix my regular music and game ost's anyway so it's kinda better for me, but other people might like it a different way. The UI is intuitive and the ost's they got on there day 1 slap hard, with more coming soon. The only issues are, like you said, the lack of proper credit to the actual composers and putting them under the label of "Nintendo" (this has been a long-running issue with the company) and the lack of a desktop app, both of which will hopefully be fixed in the future. I don't think it's a big deal to not put their stuff on Spotify, it's surely a bit annoying for some, but I don't see it as a big issue.
100%, having no ads is very pleasurable honestly. Not being available for desktop is quite a surprise though, it'll probably reach more platforms as it builds up over time.
I've mentioned this a few times around the web now, but yeah this thing is pointless. I've got 90 GB of locally stored game music on my phone and PC and the majority of that is rips of Nintendo stuff, and I can shuffle it in with whatever other music I want. Plus they can never take it from me should I cut the cord with NSO.
Why? i dont think we are losing any benefit from this service? i know it requires membership but its not ment for the app, its ment for switch users to go online and use cloud saves and play nes and snes games.

I don't use Spotify etc because I hate ads so I'm happy with this since I already have NSO because it's cheap
Nintendo air fryer would be hilarious lol
i really hate that they actually region locked the app. I want to download it from Indonesia, and i can't because it's not available in my country

3:04 I'm sorry man but I got NSO just so I could use this app
This app makes me sad... in my pants.
:(
The Nintendo music app is an exact copy of the UA-cam music app.
Typical view that can be said for basically every other music app.
@ImDaMat naw. Look at it. It's an exact copy. It's different if it was inspired and had some differences but this is an exact copy.
Typical Nintendo. They want to keep control over their IP's and that is including the music.
I mean duh? It’s their stuff …
