  • When you feel stuck or lost in life, your creativity can ease the struggle so you can find your purpose and meaning.
    In the video I mention 3 T's to help you structure a purpose driven visual journal. Near the end there is a 4th BONUS T - let me know in the comments what you'll be sipping with your journal.
    I'll share how making art can help you navigate all the different transitions and passages of life - whether they’re exciting: like going on a trip, launching your business, or sending a kid off to college, or challenging: like a breakup, divorce, or going to therapy.
    I’ll show you examples from my own visual journals, and how I use them to help me make meaning, recover a sense of purpose, and even ignite passion - in my business, during school, and all through the mixed bag of life experiences that are part of the human condition.
    If you ever thought making art might seem frivolous, or maybe even too fun to have any impact, then I think you’ll find this video helpful.

    Loved this video so much, thank you for demystifying art, and showing how accessible it is to everyone. I love how art can be private, and I hadn't realised that until recently. Looking forward to more of your videos. ❤️

    The list of Ts is really helpful, Lisa. I think that's been one of my problems in sustaining a visual journaling practice: finding a focus. I am taking my first overseas trip next summer, to Wales, and would like to journal about that. It's also a transition, because I've been learning Welsh for two years and will arrive there as a Welsh speaker. Here in the U.S., I haven't had the experience of living daily life through the medium of Welsh, so that will be a new role for me. Anne D.

      These are very rich topics for a visual journal! Narrowing down any or all of the T's will help make visual journaling easier to maintain.

    I love the idea of creating some parameters for a visual journey. I am transitioning out of being a full time "Mom" into the unknown. I want to create a space to explore this in order to gain greater clarity about what might come next for me. I want to get out of my thinking brain and use more color and images.

      @@LisaSonora I'm going through huge transitions right now: my beautiful, gentle partner recently diagnosed with cancer and now has a colostomy bag. I've had to rehome my beautiful goats due to these changes, needing to be available to travel for treatment, operations etc. So much change, upheaval and emotions that I don't know how to get out... But after watching this, I feel my art will take a more gentle, reflective, personal and symbolic direction, rather than random abstract output. I want to document these times in some way that I'll be able to reflect on, even if I don't use actual words. I like to show people my art, but like you, I don't like being "seen". This way my soul can show up in my art without completely exposing myself.

      Apologies for the belated reply, @Nicolette - I'm so sorry for what you and your partner are going through and wish you so much peace, healing and comfort for these incredibly difficult transitions. I hope your goats are happy in their new home, too.
      It means a lot that you've shared how this is supporting you. This is a wonderful gift of UA-cam - that we can find others to relate to and new ways of thinking about our work, life and circumstances. wishing you well from Mexico.

    Such an inspiring video, Lisa. I love your gallery wall and the many amazing images of your journals; all the ways visual journalling can connect us to our purpose. Love that Jung quote, and how you lit up when you mentioned the magic (I don't remember the exact quote).

    I really want to learn about this, it so intrigues me. But I feel like I don’t have one artistic bone in my body, have no idea where I would even start. I’m going to keep watching and hope to try though. Like that it’s a private book just for me.

      You'll find lots of ideas here to begin, Maryann! Privacy is key in visual journaling - just like keeping a written journal.

      I've just started keeping a visual journal too, and it blew my mind when I realised that art doesn't have to be displayed or critiqued. Keeping my artwork private is incredibly meaningful. And I no longer critique my own art either, I just express myself without worrying about whether or not it's "good" or done "correctly". So liberating, I hope you go for it and really enjoy yourself! ✏️🖌️

    • @myriaddreams
      @myriaddreams Рік тому

      Maryann, other than a creative flair for garment making/upcycling textiles, I didn't think I was the slightest bit artistic. But I can promise you, once you start scraping paint in this manner and cutting and gluing imagery from magazines that light you up... Magic absolutely will happen. Then you'll watch different tutorials and try different techniques and it just gets more and more exciting!! I truly believe we are all creative.
      I started with a glue stick and magazines. I didn't even have anything to stick things to, so I made "canvases" out of glued-together magazine pages
      Then I got some cheap acrylic paints and brushes and very quickly became joyfully obsessed with making art.
      Best wishes, I hope you're also making art soon 🌻

    What TOPIC would you like to visual journal about? Which of the three T's is helpful for you to consider right now?

    • @jennifertwinkle
      @jennifertwinkle 2 роки тому +1

      I used a visual journal page last night to write my "dream plan" for a lucid dreaming course. The topic I would like to visual journal about is both creating an evening ritual and helping me to develop the inspiration get up early enough before work to enjoy a fullsome morning ritual.
