yeah, if i am honnest i kind of saw the WLW part as incidental (and a nice departure of rambo/bond genre) but i still had my rosy tainted glasses 'bigotry and misogyny was stuff that only old people do" on at the time, so i did not know better. In the context of the 90 movies and the compulsory gratuitous sex-scene that comes with them i am not sure that it could be called erotic as such. I mean it is a far cry from 'histoire d'O' or 'Emmanuelle' and part of the movie is to make us wonder if Violet is playing Corky in a 'last seduction' kind of way, So for me it makes sense story wise.
Wait... There is a UNRATED version of BOUND? When watching Gia I try to pretend the downward spiral never happens. Which of course leaves me with mostly just the sex... I'm ok with that.

I love If These Walls Could Talk 2. Wonderful. And I just recently rewatched The Truth About Jane because I found the DVD for a buck and remembered that I liked it when it originally aired. I would definitely add All Over Me. And what about Relax, It's Just Sex? Mostly about the boys, granted, but there's also a very sweet lesbian love story featuring Lori Petty.
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues - they carded me at the ticket booth so we had to buy tickets to something else and sneak in. The Butcher’s Wife - the lesbian side couple story line was so cute and stuck with me for years Poison Ivy - arguably more gay longing of one girl and the sexy object of her affection, Drew Barrymore… just a moody, ridiculous movie that I was obsessed with. High Art - in which I became enamored with Patricia Clarkson, rolling around with a fake accent being fabulous Better Than Chocolate - the original “Van Life” - I don’t remember much except it was sexy Henry & June - made me gay. I imprinted on this movie like a baby duck - the style, the velvet, the poetry, the over dramatic nature of all the artists, the whole vibe. Still one of the sexiest movies ever. More bisexual overall than anything, but it’s the women people watched it for.

Just thought of another one. A UK film i think from either 94/95 called Thin Ice. About two amateur ice skaters who go to the New York gay games. Ian Mckellen makes a cameo appearance. Just remembered another. The first lesbian film I ever saw and I loved it. I think it was an indie film, Canadian, released August of 1999 called better than chocolate. Terrific cast, engaging plot and lots of twists and turns. Funny and heart-wrenching by currents that the theme is sung by Sarah McLachlan doesn't hurt either. I can't remember where to watch it I think I can look it up and let you know.

Recommending boys don´t cry feels extremely wrong, it's such a traumatic film for the community, you should have openly said how extremely transphobic that film is or just simply shouldn't have put it on a lesbian films list, i think you did stated it's horrible history the best you could but i think it would have been a better move just to simply not put it in the video and give it more exposure, especially to trans people pain which is not yours to reclaim, i believe you had no bad intentions at all it just comes off wrong.
I disagree; I understand that there's a lot wrong with the movie because of how it portrayed the events and its understanding of trans folk, but that being said when I was younger I didn't know what Trans was bc no one talked about it, but I did understand what gay was (because I was gay) and that film helped me understand myself/how others might react to myself and later helped me to understand more about the Trans community. Again, it's not the best teacher, but its what I and a lot of people had to help open our eyes. And for that I don't think the film should be ignored.

I see where you are coming from, though the point of the movie is to denounce that they kill him because he is transgender. The thing is that it is a product of its time and we can't judge it by modern standards. Sure it is far from perfect, but it has the merit to have been made and released bearing in mind all the concessions that must have been made for it to happened. I was 20 in 85 and well it was a world where it was still totally acceptable to be an hateful bigot.

It is that we can't judge the movies as if it was made yesterday and totally ignoring the constraint of the society and the way movies production worked at the time. What i am getting at is regardless of the rest of the movie and despite the constraint of the time, It clearly condemns the murder of brandon (thus condemning transphobia) and clearly portrays the badies (Tom and John) as average Joes. IE not member of any evil organisation but just regular member of the society.

The thing is that it is a product of its time and we can't judge it by modern standards. Sure it is far from perfect, but it has the merit to have been made and released bearing in mind all the concessions that must have been made for it to happened. I was 20 in 85 and well it was a world where it was still totally acceptable to be an hateful bigot.

@@HenkBartl TBF Evelyn had a clear disclaimer, about that and i agree with you and her on that point. Now my point is not that it ok because it was alright at the time. It is that we can't judge the movies as if it was made yesterday and totally ignoring the constraint of the society and the way movies production worked at the time. What i am getting at is regardless of the rest of the movie and despite the constraint of the time, It clearly condemns the murder of brandon (thus condemning transphobia) and clearly portrays the badies (Tom and John) as average Joes. IE not member of any evil organisation but just regular member of the society.
