    I used some of your previous videos when setting up my current pfd so no surprise - i carry most of what you do. The things I hadn't considered are the trauma shears and cpr mask. I tend to be one of the more medically trained people in my groups so those will be no-brainer additions for sure.

    Like the stuff in your pfd. in my pfd is in addition the car-key and the Smartphone/plb to call rescue Team.

    Good list. I also carry exam gloves, since they weigh nearly nothing. As for shears I would suggest making sure that your pair works before you rely on it. The first pair I got were cheapos from AMZ and turns out did not cut even the thinnest fabric let alone rope or neoprene. I suggest springing for at least a $14 pair, they are awesome and cut rope like nothing else. Black Diamond it appears has unfortunately stopped producing Magnetron carabiners, the only reason I could find was due to manufacturing costs.

      Great idea on the gloves and testing your shears. Bummer on the Magnetrons.

    as a beater, im a big fan the rescue vest it makes it easier to get stuck kayaks when on belay. Maybe I should get better shoes, maybe an updated video on shoes? the pin kit I only bring on 4/5 stuff. I also keep fruitsnacks in mine those are normally a hit. big fan of bringing cpr mask their too cheep not to bring. ill be adding shears to my kit after this

    I know that Palm PFDs are not regularly sold in the USA. Can you share an online seller for Palm PFDs?

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV  3 місяці тому

      Have you tried searching Google? I'll have a handful of Palm Nevis PFDs for sale in May.

      @@GearGarageTV Thanks for the reply. I was searching for the Palm Riff PFD which doesn't seem to be available.

    I’m getting in the paddle boarding and I want to take it to the next level you know if another words I want to be able to teach it I wanna be able to go on tours and that type of stuff and lead tours maybe at some point in my life.
    So I like the idea of being able to carry some gear with me you know like what you have how do you know you know how to cut somebody’s clothes off? How do you know that you know somebody’s this is gonna get hung up and something in the water and you gotta have something to cut that off and you have literally seconds once you reach them to do that you can’t be fighting around with that stuff.
    So I am interested in a vest is one that is allowed in Canada it’s Coast Guard safe for them but the lady explains that it is not Coast Guard safe here in the United States which I think it’s too bad because that is a very nice vest. So I’m not looking for something that is big and bulky but I would be wearing this in the summer and winter, so what would your best advice be ?

    What’s your favorite pulley brand/size to carry in your pfd? You’ve mentioned the rock exotica before but theirs are no longer sealed bearings….

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV  Рік тому

      Even if it’s not sealed I still like the Rock Exotica Mini Machined pulley

    Great video but most important things are phone and car keys! Need to be on your person not in your boat as if you lose your boat you need to be able to communicate and get home

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV  Рік тому

      Car keys can be left hidden on the car. My truck has a keypad so I lock them inside.
      Good call on the phone and/or sat texter.

    there has never been an incident where someone got sick from doing cpr and breathing for someone. You can ditch that little thing. I will admit it does not weight anything. The knife is way more useful

      It has a one way valve so it prevents vomit from getting in your mouth

    • @GearGarageTV

      Because of the foam associated with drowning it's nearly impossible to give rescue breaths to a drowning victim without a mask

      People vomiting is the main concern, not spreading of germs (although that's also a concern). Anyone in any professional setting will carry/use one if it's available. This isn't the 80s where you can pretend to drown to get the cute lifeguard to kiss you.
