Thank you. 5 years later and this video still is helping people out. Took me about 25 cycles. Glad this video came up during the search.. spend 30 minutes searching for the fix until this video was recommended by youtube. Sent you some money for a coffee :) thanks!
So glad it helped and thank you!!
It Worked!!! I had a 15 year old machine that stopped working and after watching this video I kept repeating the cycle and taking the water canister on and off and it started working again!!! It took about 40 tries so don't give up!!!
Thank you for this comment! After 20 times I almost gave up…tested a few more and then finally, water came through!
Over 2 years later and this is still helping people!! You fixed my machine within minutes!! Thank you!
For real!
Thank you very much! It worked. After 5 years in storage. Took about 15-20 failed cycles in descale mode. Before your video tried blowing, ziplock bags, almost started taking it apart, but didn't have the right tools. Your patience on the phone with tech support saved many people lots of time and hassle. Truly appreciated.
You're welcome - glad it was helpful!
I never comment on videos but recently got a free original Nespresso that hadn't been used for a year or more. Tried using it but no coffee came out. Used boiling water in the water canister and after maybe 5 times water started coming out. It runs perfectly now thank you!! :))
Thank you!! Bought this Citiz Nespresso machine out of a garage sale and the owner said they had 3 and didn’t use that one. It took about 10 cycles to start seeing bubbles in the tank and 15 cycles for the water to fully flow. You’re a life saver! 🥰
This is probably one of the most helpful advice on youtube. I couldn't get it to work on cold water but done what you said about tap hot water and it magically works again …..
Tried your trouble-shooting tips as well as the hot water in canister. Finally removed the canister and flipped it over. Using the paperclip, pushed it through each of the open slats within the the protruding pump connection, and it worked!
Thank you !! My mom asked me how to fix the machine of not puncturing the capsule. When i inspected the machine, it doesn't pump water too. I wasted too many times to make it operate well. Finally you give me the perfect solution.
I truly appreciate it. Thank you so much !!
WOW I have been trying to fix my machine for 6 months up and down with tank but the MISSING LINK WAS THE SUPER HOT WATER WITHIN 8 tries machine started working!! I am thrilled. Thanks for this post.
It worked for me too.
SUPER HOT WATER and within 4 tries water started running.
BRILLIANT IDEA.
How did you find out?
Five years after you made this video I've just found it! At last something logical, simple and sensible that sounds like it will work! I have the same issue! Am going to try this now-wish me luck!🤞
I bought my Nespresso on EBAY and was starting to think I got ripped off when no water came out. Found your video, crossed my fingers that it would work, AND IT DID. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Holy cow. You just saved me so much time and angst. Thank you for sharing!!! Worked perfectly and I didn’t even need hot water - the technique itself was enough!
5 years later, still helping people. I just did hot tap water and not boiling. Def took several tries, but glorious once it started!
I stored my machine for more than 2 years and it was not working anymore. I called the company and she told me to pump the container back, but the water still did not flow. But while doing it while the machine is running as you have described, it worked! But I pumped more than twenty times trying both buttons and finally the water came out! Thank you very much for your video.
I bought this machine from someone for $25 who said it had been in storage. Was upset thinking it didn’t work. You just saved it for me!
I didn’t think this worked for me after 20+ attempts at pushing the button and moving the water tank up and down with boiling water so I stopped. I left it for a few hours and came home to try again, and voila! First push of the button and water came through. Maybe this will help you if you don’t think it’s quite working but you hear some gurgling sounds in the machine. Thanks for the tip! (The ziplock bag with air trick absolutely didn’t help and was way too hard!)
Bravo. Spent an hour troubleshooting this morning. Found your video and it worked after 3 cycles.
I had to do this 30-40 times (for those here in the comment section who didn’t find it worked after 3-4 times) and my machine WORKS AGAIN! Thank you for this video ❤
This worked. The Nespresso customer care gave me the same fix, but it didn't fix the problem at the time. After watching your video, I made the water hotter and viola, it worked. Thanks for sharing this.
My machine still pumping water but you can tell it's very slow and not as much. I tried your method for maybe 3 rounds, and it worked great again! Thanks so much.
Hi Holly, I had my CITIZ sitting in storage for like 4 years, finally decided to pull it out and use it and it basically wouldn't pump water. I spent hours trying to figure it out just like you. I even took the screws out and took it apart and it did nothing. Then I came across your video, tried it, and I had it working in about 5 minutes. Great video! Thank god for you! You're awesome.
Yay! I know, I was so frustrated, too, and it turned out to be so simple!
The cycles were endless. I didn't count them, but I know it took at least half an hour before it worked. I was scrolling through the comments, looking for anyone who said it didn't work. But there was nothing so I continued. And IT WORKED.
Thank you very much. I had the same problem after putting away this machine for several years after I switched to K-cup machine. I added a cup of vinegar to your "secret" formular. I don't know whether the vinegar played any role, but it worked right away. I almost threw the machine away before I saw your clip. I enjoyed the perfect morning coffee with one capsule + two french vanilla coffee mates just now thanks to you.
Worked! I'd say at least 25 cycles before it finally started pumping water. Tilted the machine a little bit too while pumping - trying to dislodge the air lock. Thanks!
This totally works!!! It took me more like 12 tries, but it WORKED. don’t give up, it was worth try after try. Now my Nespresso Citiz works. Thank goodness!.
Hallelujah! I tried all those other crazy things and they didn't work. It probably took me 20 cycles to make it happen, but I finally had an amazing cup of coffee! It was in storage for a long time. Works perfect now. Thank you for sharing.
Totally worked!!! After 3 days trying so many workless things all around UA-cam, your tutorial saved our mornings! It was frustrating, and actually it took like 25-30 cicles to make the machine do some other noises, but after that water come out little by little... we couldn’t believe! So thank you for sharing!!!
PianOZone so glad it helped! I know how frustrating this can be!
Oh man! You are the BEST!! My machine wasn’t working and I was on Amazon looking for a replacement one when I decided to google how to fix it. This was the first video I watched and it worked like a CHARM! THANK YOU !
Kate M You’re very welcome!
Over 5 years later, this is still very helpful. I went through the same processes and youtube videos, this video is yet the simplest and the best option! THANK YOU for sharing!
So glad it helped!
Yes me too lol
It worked!! I let it sit with hot water for a while ... my telephone rang ... and then I startet with new hot water again. It worked instantly . Thank you for that hint!
OMGGG I found one of these at a thrift store today and was so sad when it wasn’t working. I tried this. Took 30 minutes of on/off doing this and it finally worked! If you’re seeing this, don’t give up. Thank you!
THANK YOU! Was so upset to realize my machine wasn’t working after not using it for a few months (I hadn’t been able to get more pods for a while).
This worked on my VertuoLine Nespresso model, so it likely works for any of them, not just the one.
Wow! It took about 25-30 tries with our instant hot water, but the water is now flowing on a machine that had set unused for 4-5 years!! Thank you!
Thank you for the video! I also followed through but the key here is make sure you use VERY HOT water. I tried 15 cycles with warm tap water at first and did not work. The second the Nespresso customer service representative told me to use HOT HOT water, the water came out. I filled half boiled water and half room tap water in reservoir, so the water came out right away! Good luck!
I tried all of the other fix-it's and this was the final attempt. It took more like 20 attempts for me but I was cheering for joy in my kitchen when it started working!! Persistence is key! Thank you!!
Thank you! I was so close to giving up, but your video and all the positive comments convinced me to give it another try. Defintely took more than 5-10 times, but I managed to successfully reanimate the machine 💪🏽
Thank you! It took a LONG time but suddenly the water tank started bubbling and it was flowing like a champ. Great hack!
Well, I'd already written off our 8 year old Citiz when it stopped passing water (excuse the phrase!). I went and bought a new one at great expense. I then thought I'd strip the old one down and see just how it works. Came on UA-cam to find out how and found your video instead. I followed your instructions and now it works perfectly!! Guess I'll give the old one to my daughter. It could so easily have gone into the recycling. Thanks!
Oh wow thank you so much - our coffee machine stopped pumping water and this worked a treat!!! Took about 6 attempts moving the water container on and off - thank you 😊
Thank you! You don't realise how much you need coffee until that moment when it's taken away from you. Saved me a small fortune!
This worked!!
I had already given up on my machine which was a hand-me-down from my dad who never used it. But today I got one last spark of determination and decided to try it one more time. Previously I had tried what seemed like all possible solutions for this problem...
But I found this video that I hadn't seen before and gave it a go. I almost gave this up too until I read the comments because it took me maybe 50 runs before mine started pumping water😅 But I'm glad I stuck with it cause now I can enjoy my coffee almost instantly❤
Worked here!!!! Tried before with cold water and no way! With hot water, almost instantaneously!!! Thank you from Brazil!!!
It worked. I had just purchased a nespresso c60 from eBay and it must have been in storage for a while. I tried this method and right when I started to lose confidence I started tipping it side to side to add a different kind of force to the flap below and then it started working! I was about to complain and go through the hassle of a return, thanks to your patience and video I got to enjoy a cup of espresso this morning! Thank you!
Glad it worked!
Fabulous!!! It worked immediately. My new capsules had arrived and because I haven’t used the machine for six months it wasn’t working. I’m so happy I can have a coffee now :)
Worked for my CitiZ purchased off eBay! I was about to start a return with the seller but this was the ticket. Now I’ve got what looks to be a brand new CitiZ for wayyyyyy under retail. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you, thank you! I too tried everything to no avail. Your technique worked. It took me several reps through the method but eventually it started pumping water. Much obliged!
We can send a man to the moon, and a rover to mars - but Nespresso can't make a machine that is reliable or with a simple way to reset when these "air pockets" happen. . This FINALLY worked after several attempts, and waiting a few hours. I was almost ready to send this to the landfill. Patience pays off. THANKS!
Stressing the point of persistence saved me from further issues. Thanks!
You are a life saver.. I tried everything online and and nothing worked. So it took me a little longer and I almost give up, but trying a couple more times and heard the pump trying to pump water and then Bam.. She's working again.. Thank you so much!
No joke, you are the Nespresso hero! After sitting in storage for 3+ years we decided to take out the Nespresso machine. After cleaning the dust on the outside, I hit the button and no water came out, just the buzzing sound. Next, I find this video and it took me like 10 minutes of working her technique before the water got through the clog and started flowing. My wife was upstairs probably thinking I lost it and was taking my anger out on the Nespresso machine. Lol. Pro tip: you don't have to fully remove the water tank. Just tip it back and away and then put it back in place. As long as you momentarily break suction at the bottom and then reconnect, you will force the water down and into the system. No need to completely lift the tank. I might have fixed mine faster had I not removed the tank each time at first.
Yes! This fix worked perfectly. Be persistent; it took numerous iterations of working the water reservoir...I'd lost the siphon by running the water dry. Try not to do that. It happened to me once before, and I got it working again. This time around, it was more difficult...Thank you for this remedy. I've had early model (Essenza) for >10yrs, and it works perfectly. I clean it after every use by just run water through.
Haven’t used my machine in 6 months and this worked perfectly! I had to do it about 20 times.
I did this for a while and it didn't work. And then I tried the "plastic bag" method and that didn't work either. However, when I combined this method with the plastic bag method, I finally got it to start pumping! So, if anyone is stuck after trying the method in this video, try combining methods.
Thanks so much for this tutorial!
You’re still helping people fix these machines. Thank you! This machine has far too many weird tricks for the price you pay lol
Bought a beautiful Citiz machine on Marketplace. Water wouldn’t flow. This fixed it! I found that it helped when you hold one finger over the spout to create more suction while you are lifting and replacing the tank. Had to do mine line 12. times! Started to see more bubbles when I did that finger trick! Thanks again! 😊
Great! My built in coffee machine broke this morning so I got my old Nespresso machine out and was devastated when that didn't work either. It just didn't pump any water. Tried various things, like those you described. But nothing worked.
Tried your suggestion and after about 15 cycles it started pumping water!!
So happy right now :-)
You win the internet! Looked as so many OTT ways to fix this issue. Of course leave it to a smart woman to find a solution. Thanks
Rickey-Dean Wasson haha, so glad it worked!
Amazing thanks that worked! I had not used my machine for 2 years, and could not find any helpful videos until your one. It took 3 cycles to get it pumping again. I noticed you will help the machine get a bit quieter once the water starts to run through it again. THANKS!
I had to run about 40 cycles with boiling water but it finally worked! Thank you so much for posting this--you've helped so many people, including me!
You're a life saver! It was in storage for over a year and now it's working again!!
HONESTLY YOU ROCK!! It took about 12 on/off's but it worked!!!!!!
3 years later, and the trick still works - thank you so much for researching and sharing - fixed our coffee machine in no time!
This worked perfectly! Saved me trying to get the right customer service person on the phone Mine was a brand new machine and was air-locked. Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time to share your success with us. Saved us from a messy (and probably unsuccessful) disassembly, which would have sent the machine to the Nespresso Graveyard (AKA Dump). Take care and stay safe.
Yes, thank you Holly. I tried the air filled sandwich bag and the popping the reservoir off and on to no avail. I couldn’t figure out the straw solution. The really hot water must have done the trick. Thanks for saving us the agony of trying every other UA-camr out there.
Thank you much, 4 years later and still helping desperate coffee drinkers! :)
Thank you it worked for me, hot water was a magic solution. Within 20 seconds the machine started pumping water!
This is what I needed. I tried everything she had tried and had all but given up. Thank you for posting this. I wish they would just post this on their site!
I know, I don’t know why it’s not made available by them when it’s such a simple fix. Maybe I just got really lucky taking to that manager that day!
Thank you for your video. I had just cleaned it and it no longer pumped water. After 3 tries of removing and returning the water dispenser, it works again. You save me so much time to try to figure this out.
You ARE A SUPERHERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just bought this at Goodwill and was ready to take it back. You have SAVED THE COFFEE WORLD 🙂 THANK YOU!!!!!
Had the same problem but with different model, and found this video. First thought is what?! Then I tried without any confidence, and you know what? This trick works! Thanks Holly for this video! This product definitely has design flaw
THANK YOU! I have tried everything.. even took the bottom off and tried to manually feed the pump.. This worked in less than 2 min.. saved me from spending the money to get a new one.
Christian Thomas Great!!
Thank you so much, brought one second hand and couldn’t get it working, getting frustrated till I saw you video now works perfectly
Works 😍 I thought it was not going to work after the 10th trial but after reading comments I tried another 10 times and at the end it worked ✌️
I almost gave up, but it worked after continuously pumping the water container. I didn't use hot water, but that was to be my 2nd attempt. Thank you~
Was about to throw my mashine away when I found your video. Took me 5-10 minutes and worked like a charm. Thank you
Sil3nC4 Wonderful!
Thank you so much for the video! Picked this machine up at Goodwill for $20. Wasn't working so watched your video and presto.. it's working!!
THANK YOU!! Was heartbroken my almost new machine wasn’t working after being stored for over a year, tried everything for several days, then found this video. Did same thing, water finally started coming through. 👍🏼
Machine was fixed in few minutes, thank you for this video.. may good fortune come your way
Holly after much banging the sides of our machine like Neanderthals, we found your video - found boiling water was the trick. Saved us many hundreds of $$ on a new machine. Thanks.
Hi, so I ran across your video because we were having the same problem after I had descaled it, no water was coming out! Whooo hooo! 🎉It worked great exactly like you said so thanks a million!!
This is the only method that has worked all the other stuff people have recommended will just leave you frustrated. Great job 👍
Just worked for me. Literally took 1 minute and it started pumping water again. Thanks so much!
Thank you! My Citiz & Milk has not been used since 2013. I plugged it in today. It's didn't work. You just made my day!
This works on Verismo that has been in storage a long time-7 yrs, today. Flushed with vinegar/water mix. Took about an hour as I tried using straw with an ziploc bag filled w air to seal around straw, as I blew into the machine port. Also searched other solutions. This got it done!
OMG...I thought my machine was destined for the garbage but after many attempts as you described it works again! Never thought I would be so excited to see water coming out haha Thank you!!!
Yours, should be the first Video if someone is looking for that problem! Thanks a lot
Thanks for the video, really good to learn about that technique. I couldn't get it to work for my machine's issue but I found putting the machine on a descaling cycle almost immediately fixed the issue.
OMG! Finally it’s working on my machine after tried almost 5 mins of that. Thanks so much for your sharing. Guys, if you still haven’t got any water come out, that means you haven’t try it hard enough. Just keep lift the tank up and down till you see the water. Don’t give up 😊
This worked. It took many, many cycles but it eventually worked. Thanks!
So I have hope 🙏🏻 i tried 30 times
Ooooo wow! I just bought the Citiz C113 used from someone and I could not get anything to work but this made it work!!!! Thank you!!!!
We have a different model and this device had sat unused for quite sometime. We followed your suggestion and it worked! Thanks for your efforts and sharing.
Hello from Sweden, this just fixed a machine I bought cheap to use in my summer cottage and I'm so excited to enjoy a cup of coffee tomorrow morning 😁
Thanks for the help I have the same espresso machine which had been sitting for 3 or 4 yrs and just watched your video and we'll got the old relic going. THANKS 👍☺️ you rock....
Thanks for your research and video! I didn't get this to work until I started tilting the mashine, holding the front in the left hand and the water container side in the other hand, rocking it away from me and towards me. That made it work, combined with the suggestions in your video. Thanks again! Didnt wanna have to throw away my 10+ y/o citiz & milk!
It works like magic with hot water on the first try for my almost ten years in storage citiz machine. thank you so much for the tip!
WORKED! Thank you! Makes sense that this would work. I found that just rocking it rapidly in place so that it would continually reseat worked well. Took many cycles to get going
Thank you sooooo much! I had watched all those videos too and nothing worked. I had to do about 12 cycles and low and behold, it finally came through. You are a genius!
Thank you so much for this video. I started making a coffee but realised there was no water in the machine. Your method worked perfectly
