Wow. Here today....gone tomorrow. If not for you, Mr. Donnie....preserving all these visuals of lost places and their stories....they might just be forgotten. The more people that see these videos the more people will learn how important American history is. Thank you once again for being our chosen teacher. God Bless and Merry Christmas! 🙏❤️🎄💚
Thanks for sharing this my friend. Thank you. Your very welcome. God bless you.
Thank you for the documentaries you are doing of the areas in ChuckSwan/Sharps Chapel. It is very close to my heart. It will be forgot forever. I am afraid when my generation is gone the Chuck Swan area will be sold to developers and our history will be wiped clean. If people only knew the history of the families that settled East Tennessee it would blow peoples mind.
That's so true my friend. God bless you.
So sad Donnie
Dandridge was saved from the Gov't flooding it due to Martha Dandridge Washington.

Tales of years gone by...I wonder how the people felt, leaving their towns and homes. Thank you for keeping these places alive for us, my friend!💖
I would a lot wasn't happy about it my friend. Thanks for sharing. Your very welcome.
Yep living in the country where we only have the illusion of having rights and privileges soon as they want to take our land or take our livelihood just like covid-19 they will. The powers that be and the people that have all the money consider us their slaves nothing more that's for sure😐
given the fact these people had to rely on farming and had farms and all, leaving their existing land knowing its fertile and good, for another place given to them but unsure if it would yield the same produce? id say they felt pretty insecure and gloomy.
They most likely felt the same way as farmers and old homesteaders felt when the U.S. government came through the Cuyahoga Valley in Ohio in the '70's and threw families off their farms and out of their homes because the government said they didn't want the valley to be "developed". Some people got what was called a "scenic easement", which meant they could live there until they died, and then their homes would be bulldozed and then briar patches would be planted on top so it would look like nothing was ever there. One family, the FIFTH generation of a homestead/farm, were tossed out merely because the park wanted their house. It was then turned into a hostel for overnight thru hikers. Gee, how thoughtful.
------------------
I'm sorry this happened to this town, Donnie, but when the government wants something, there's no stopping them. Look what they did to the Natives.....
Thanks for sharing this sad fact my friend.
Hello Donnie, thanks for sharing and creating this video. I'm not saying my Pappaw Carter did gather the rocks for those foundations in Big Spring, but as a kid he did gather rocks for chimneys and foundation. My Pappaw was born to a share cropper in a log cabin in Claiborne county. How the world has changed. Some for the better and some not so much. God bless!
Awesome my friend. Thanks for sharing this. God bless you.

Mr. Donnie Laws Sir.......this was some outstanding research along with photo archives , and with going off the beaten path to find the old foundations of the structures , and the quarried marble slabs as well .The people there had a good life carved out of the woods and tributaries before it was flooded , and now it is documented.
Thank you for the video Brother.
Thank you friend. Your very welcome.

Hey Donnie. Thanks for the video. You sure did put a lot of work into it and it's appreciated so we can learn a little history about the region. I guess the TVA was a curse to some, and a blessing to others. Thanks again friend and have a great evening.

Wow you do a great job of showing these places. I worked on the blue ridge parkway with two old guys that was with the ccc camp and got jobs with the park service they could tell some great stories . Thanks so much I enjoy watching this stuff !!! ❤
Wow..my sister and I were talking about this a couple of weeks ago. Our daddy was in the "CCC'S" before he went in the Army during WWII. I still have his membership card from the "CCC'S". Thanks Donnie for giving us these videos to watch. 😃👍
WOW Thanks for sharing this my friend. Your very welcome.
It's so sad to think about towns that were lost to progress and all the folks's lives that were impacted by dams being built. There's a town under the lake near where my grandparents lived. They used to talk about when that area was floodedand how the town, trees, and everything were just flooded. It's kind of hard to imagine. It reminds us that our life is a vapor...here for a moment, then gone. Thanks for being part of our lives! Jane in SC❤️🙏
Thanks for sharing this my friend. God bless you.
