I honestly do not know what I love more, this absolutely gorgeous and cozy library, or that you entry it through a hidden door in a book shelf. This is a dream, one day I’ll aim for something like this as well.
Breathtaking, but comfortable and livable; I could spend all day here. so many different seating areas, work/reading tables, beautiful woodwork and shelves for days filled with books. Cannot believe that this is in someone's home. This is the best home library that I have ever seen.
This is absolutely beautiful!!!! You can tell how much time, effort, and heart went into this project! It's a dream come true (for me and many other viewers)! You have an incredible collection and sense of design taste (I'm jealous of your mystery section) and I love all the little details such as the mouse, the Hercule Poirot statue and the stained glass window (all of the little décor details referencing books) - plus making the bookcase door look like and elevator on the inside - brilliant!! What a wonderful room to spend time in!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you A Literary Fan. The design details were my wife's doing (except the elevator - that's mine). This is really her library, and your comments made her very happy as this was her desired affect (effect?) - I'm a numbers guy, and I don't feel like asking my wife which is correct. We asked the builder who designed our house to build a library with limited detail except dark wood, secret entrance, and English library feel. What you see is the result. - Peter
@williamhowerton744 Those hidden bookcases don't necessarily have to cost a fortune. If you think so, you obviously don't know about construction. You can have just about the same thing for a few hundred, max - $100-ish for FB Marketplace bookcases you refinish and another $100 for quality casters and sliders on the wall. Don't yuck someone else's yum. It's rude, and really bad form.
Love this beautiful library! That's everyone's dream if they love to read . I love it when their was absolutely no tv or radio in it. Just a few nice places to sit and enjoy reading until your heart is content. Its exspecailly nice to have a fireplace if you a bit cold and want to warm up while enjoying the peace and quiet. Put in a coffee maker and a small fridge to put your creamer in and some cool drinks. You wouldn't have to leave that room for nothing until you need to use the bathroom or go cook dinner or clean up the house. But that's your treat having a library like this. You worked for it and earned it.
This is one of the most beautiful, creative and original things I have ever seen. I cannot imagine why you would call yourself mediocre, when you're clearly a VERY talented and thoughtful person. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. It's simply gorgeous.
Such an awesome personal library. Well laid out, and furnished. For the size of library, it blends well, yet there has the appearance three different “sections “ in the library. The ladder, stairs, desk, are real nice accents. I love to explore this library. Very cool.
I've watched this video several times now. I can't believe how stunningly rich, cozy, warm, inviting and down right gorgeous this library is. Add to that the hidden room aspect and this is by far and away the best home library EVER!!!
Is that an old card catalog for a table?! Wow. That's so uniquely creative. The space is breathtaking. Warm wishes from Minnesota! ❤️❤️❤️ May your pencils always be sharp and your colors never bleed.
This exquisite library has been decorated with love and imagination down to every book being placed carefully in its position. Such a feast for my eyes and a big satisfied sigh. Thank you.
Very cozy looking. Has everything, even a spiral staircase, it doesn't have to go anywhere. I notice that even in there, there are not enough bookshelves. Beautiful work.
I think those are library steps - I've seen them in other private libraries. If I'm right they'll be on wheels, very handy for reaching the top shelves when the ladder isn't available.
Wow! What a cozy and inviting space! It looks like a wonderful place for book lovers. And the hidden entrance is a nice, fun addition! Thanks for sharing this with us! ^_^
Hello from NYC and thank you for sharing such an amazing video with us! This hidden library that you have created is STUNNING, BREATHTAKING and just pure MAGIC! And like Liz Lemon would say, “I want to go to there!” 🤭 But seriously… Blessed are those who get to enter through those doors! ALL those books! In ONE room! And some have to be searched out, such as the cutest little mouse reading a book! I could go on and on with the less than 3 minutes you’ve recorded! And I haven’t even started with your book collection! Take for example that Sherlock Holmes cap in front of the SH books collection! To DIE for! You’ve made my day Sir! Now I’m going to binge watch your other videos! Thanks again! And God bless you! 🙏🏼❤️
Dear Peter, this is incredible. The mood is beyond words -it is like an ASMR video, but in your house and with a little café table nook as the cherry on top. You sir, despite your self-deprecating UA-cam channel name, are not mediocre after all. Kudos to you and your wife. Bravo! ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

A dream that im persuing! Fantastic home library, you just leave your phone outside and be happy for hours. Im my version it would have a piano as well!
Absolutely magnificent and lovely, that is such a great place to relax 😊. The way the bookcase slides open reminds me of the 1966 Batman TV show, it’s only missing the bust of Shakespeare with the hidden switch to activate the bookcase 😅.
it brings me joy to see a lovely true library, and not a kindle with e-books there is something special about feeling the book in one's hand, its weight in hand gives a sense of the vast information it contains
❤Congratulazioni! È uno studiolo meraviglioso, bravissimo, non è da tutti desiderare, progettare e realizzare qualcosa di tanto utile e bello e in modo così accurato!
Beautiful. Nice to see the card catalogue drawers in the middle of the room - I haven't worked with such in maybe 40 years. But if that's what they're being used for in your hidden library, they may be a bit hard to consult so close to the floor. Still, they DO add to the effect.
OMG this is a dream!! So many cozy spots for curling up with a book. A fireplace! A little mouse and his book. I love that the doors from inside the library look like elevator doors
