Is Blood Pressure Accurate on the Galaxy 6 Watch?

  • Some people say the Galaxy Watch 6's blood pressure monitoring feature does not live up to the hype.
I put it to a real-world test with a high-intensity shadowboxing session, taking readings before and after. We all know blood pressure should spike after such a workout. Will the watch confirm that or prove the naysayers right?
Join me in this deep dive to uncover the truth. And hey, if you find this video helpful, give it a thumbs up, share it, and hit that subscribe button for more tech breakdowns!
You can notice clearly that the systolic blood pressure increased. Exercise increases systolic blood pressure. Systolic blood pressure measures blood vessel pressure when your heart beats. Diastolic blood pressure measures the pressure in the blood vessels between heartbeats. It shouldn't change significantly during exercise.

I used this watch. I helped me it show me I have a-fib. I ended up in the hospital emergency in 2019 for 10 days. It helped save my life. I might not even go to the hospital, but what the watch show and my wife telling me it won't hurt to get it checked out, so I am still here the doctor found out I have a bat hart and it hard to treat because when I am afib my bpm goes from 25 bpm to 240 bpm in lest than a minet so I listen to my Galaxy watch 7 now .
I checked it all. Well, I was in the hospital, and it was not the same, but now I have something to go to, be it helps a lot
I use it BPM when I get below 30 bpm I have to go to the hospital if it stays down very long , the blood pressure is good now I am use to it I have my blood pressure cup to compare it with , the ECG , is great for me
I had the Galaxy watch 3 , 5 , now the 7 , don't know how I get by without it thanks Samsung for the watch ...

      ECG
I knew there was something wrong because of the bpm and the way I was feeling. Now I know my watch and my body, and it really helps
I was to have a cardiac ablation now. I don't need it. I was in the hospital in 2019 thanks to my watch there for 10 days I was in bad shape with 25 bpm to 240 bpm the dr couldn't give me something to slow it down because it was to slow he couldn't get me something to speed it up because it was to fast.
Now, between my Dr. Pills and my watch and pray to God and Jesus Christ I never had it in 2 years. I have had it for about 20 years, but it wasn't that bad .
I passed out well shopping and woke up in the hospital with a Dr. tapping me on my food, he asked me what the condition of my family hart was . I told him it was bad the next day he the Dr said I lied to him. I said I was sorry Dr. What did I lie about he said your heart I said I tough it was bad Dr he said no it not bad it brothel the worst he had ever seen I was tried on all the pills but nothing work so I got home with some pills and pray to Jesus Christ tweeting my pills with my watch
The day came for me to get my ablation my Dr came in the room he ask how was i doing at the time I never had the afib or aflutter since it will be 2 years in a few days
      Thank God and Jesus
The dr and my galaxy watch people mite say it doesn't work it depends on the speculation. I love my Galaxy. Watch the dr and my God, his son Jesus Christ thanks

@@57pad75 I'm really glad the ECG feature was able to help you-it sounds like it played a huge role in catching something important for you, which is amazing. For me, it was a bit different. While the ECG is definitely useful, I’ve had a few times where it gave me false readings, which really scared me. I even called an ambulance once because I thought something was seriously wrong as I exercised, but the paramedics told me that these devices can sometimes give inaccurate results, especially if your heart rate is high. They advised me to sit down and wait until my heart rate dropped below 90.
Al hamdillah I’ve had what turned out to be a few false afib alerts, which were caused by the watch misinterpreting ectopic heartbeats or other benign variations. I was so glad they were false but they caused me so much health anxiety. The last time it happened, I sent the graph to my cardiologist as my heart rate was a bit higher than normal, and he reassured me that everything was fine. He explained that while these devices are very helpful, sometimes they aren’t sensitive enough to pick up on things like ectopic heartbeats and can mistake them for afib.
That being said, I must stress what my cardiologist told me: these devices are great for reading ECG graphs, especially when you share them with your doctor, but not for interpreting them yourself. And what’s really cool is that if the watch automatically detects afib (god forbid) without you manually taking an ECG, it’s actually 99% accurate. So, while someone may get false results with manual ECG readings, the automatic detection is extremely reliable because it measures abnormal heart rhythms for at least an hour.
It’s great to hear that your experience with it has been life-saving-technology like this can really make a difference.
      The final take is this:
If someone feels something is wrong, you can still perform a manual ECG. If the watch says afib, don't panic immediately. Make sure you are well rested before you take a measurement (i.e not during or after exercise), and send the results to your cardiologist first for expert evaluation. Do not panic immediately as these devices can sometimes give false readings manually. However, if someone gets an automatic alert saying afib was detected, then that is a very serious matter and they should immediately get medical attention as the accuracy is very high.

Let me save you some time; No, it's not accurate. If there was an optical device you could slap on someone's wrist and have an accurate blood pressure reading, that device would be used in every single hospital. Instead, we've been using the same method for well over a hundred years.

For me it gives SYS 128 and my dedicated device SYS 110, for bpm 89 compared to 79 on the dedicated machine. Somethimes it gives wild readings of 168bpm for 2 minutes then I'm at 107. Hey there! Don't be discouraged. Blood pressure can be influenced by many factors, and there are plenty of ways to improve it through diet, exercise, and stress management. You're young, and with some healthy lifestyle changes, you can make a big difference. Stay positive and keep taking steps towards better health! You'd be surprised at what you can achieve once you start making healthier choices.
Here are some tips that might help:
      1. Adopt a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy. Reducing salt and sugar intake can also have a significant impact.
      2. Engage in regular physical activity, such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.
      3. If you're overweight, losing even a small amount of weight can help lower blood pressure. Set achievable weight loss goals.
      4. Eliminate alcohol and reduce caffeine consumption (I use extra mild coffee), as both can contribute to high blood pressure.
      5. Practice stress-reducing techniques like deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or other relaxation practices.
      6. If you smoke, quitting tobacco can significantly improve your overall health and help lower blood pressure.
      7. Regularly monitor your blood pressure and keep track of the readings to understand what works best for you.
Also, make sure you are getting enough Potassium everyday through food like bananas, oranges, beans, etc. This is important as Potassium balances sodium levels and helps relax the walls of blood vessels.
Remember, small lifestyle changes can make a big difference! Stay positive and keep going strong!

The blood pressure feature on Samsung Galaxy Watches (Galaxy Watch 3 to Galaxy Watch 7) works through a combination of initial calibration with a traditional cuff and advanced pulse wave analysis.
      How It Works:
      Calibration:
      - The watch is calibrated using a traditional cuff-based blood pressure monitor. Users take simultaneous readings with the cuff and the watch.
      - This data is input into the Samsung Health Monitor app. The process is repeated three times and recalibrated every four weeks for accuracy.
      Pulse Wave Analysis:
      - The watch uses photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensors to detect changes in blood volume at the wrist.
      - These sensors measure the pulse wave generated by heartbeats.
      - An algorithm analyzes the pulse transit time (the time it takes for the pulse wave to travel between arterial sites) and correlates it with the initial calibration readings to estimate systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
This method allows the Galaxy Watch to provide blood pressure readings through non-invasive means, using advanced sensor technology and algorithms for continuous health monitoring.

@@dosdont the FDA doesn’t clear something without proper demonstration of its abilities. While it’s obvious that a watch shouldn’t be relied on for BP, calling it a gimmick will only suppress any innovations. People said folding phones were a gimmick and shot them down when Samsung pushed out their first model and now they’re becoming more mainstream with great strides in quality.

Granted, the bp watch gimmick isn't going to kill anyone but hanging your hat on the FDA is silly.
Yes, it shouldn't be relied on and it's *ENTIRELY* a gimmick. I was having a medical episode, when you're older, dealing with your bp can sometimes be a struggle. Well the watch which was calibrated properly as per their instructions said my bp was in the same range as my calibration numbers. I knew it wasn't true because I could feel it wasn't true as I was feeling so bad. I took my bp with my monitor which I calibrated at my doctor's office to be sure, well the monitor said I was at 165/120. I have another arm monitor and used that also, same, 160's/120's. That was consistent with how I was feeling.
You honestly think people calling Samsung out about their gimmicky bp watch is going to stop them from innovating more gimmicks? Come on get serious. There's money to be made and if it's a gimmick then why would I encourage this snake oil? If it's a gimmick, it should be called out as a gimmick, what kind of unethical immoral person wouldn't want them called out? Not me.
As far as foldables, I have literally never seen one other than on UA-cam videos being reviewed. Ironically, I'm likely getting the 6 when it comes out as my 10 plus, which is still good, even the battery, doesn't get updates anymore and I'm not comfortable running a phone without up to date security updates.
