You are right, but for tall boxers you can still benefit alot fighting on the front foot, take Bivol as an example.
Rocky Marciano had shorter reach than little Manny Paquiao and he always fought on back foot. It's depends on individuals.
What matters as a tall fighter is being able to quickly transfer weight back and forth. However, primarily you want to be on the back foot.
Bivol def uses it unconventionally and still stays quite balanced. Keeping his lead leg loaded helps him spring outta range when it’s time to disengage. Also gives him that dope power jab he often combos with, leaving plenty of distance
@@himawalincat9350 he did not have shorter arms than manny, they are around the same at best. Marciano also had a really good lowline offense which allowed him to come in and really sink punches in.
Great explanation thank you.
Lentz Lundy Boxing,
Thank you very much for uploading this video! Very concise and to the point.
I have one question regarding boxing on the front foot though.
How can you do a jab with a step forward from this position without shifting your weight on the back foot first, and, if this is possible, what are the exercises to teach one's body to do it?
Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.
Thank you. 🏴

Can shorter fighters fight on the back foot?
Yes absolutely. take Rocky Marciano for example. He used to always have his weight back there for things like overhands, crosses, hooks, slips and range control.
@@BloodDawgis boxing on the back foot good against pressure fighters?
@@jericksonocampo6239 it can be. Such as if you just go hit and run on them
@@jericksonocampo6239 yes absolutely. Look what Marquez did on Pacquiao in their 4th fight
Great
