- Playing Technique:
Played next to the bridge pickup with high strength. All knobs at full
- Gear Sound:
Added high gain, lots of mid high frequencies and some low end. Tried to get near the original tone, but it was difficult (great tone by the way)
- About The Song:
It was very hard getting to know the original positions and tuning, but with some research i think i figured out well. So the tuning is in D with about 45 cents down (or a=428). Obviously it may be a little less or more, but in that tuning it sounded well enough for me. There's not much live footage to watch original positions but i also think it's accurate enough. I also used an isolated bass track to get most of the parts. It's actually a hard song to play well and strong enough to get a good attitude, so practice and practice!

With all due respect to Dime’s masterpiece in “Floods” all I hear is Rex’s bass through that whole solo and I literally get chills every time I hear it.
He doesn't get much love because like so many bass players from that era, he didn't really have to do much. He himself has expressed that he got tired of just playing root notes and essentially mirroring the guitar riffs. There is nothing difficult about his job.

I feel silly having overlooked Rex as a bass player. I always focused on Vinnie and Dimebag. I will have to key in on the bass from now on.
A lot of people do, sadly his bass was already toned down where his bass lines were hard to hear unless you really focused on em.

It's kinda hard to headbang and play accurately which is the point of the video.
It's harder to head bang and play bass at the same time, bass players have to pay more attention to what they are playing unlike guitar players who can stray off, same thing with playing bass and singing, the only person who can really play bass and sing like a boss is les claypool and tom araya and many more.
He could have at least head-banged at the break down, right?
