En dépit de la prise de son de la marque Colosseus , c'est une des plus magnifiques version des études! symphoniques

I'm amazed as a black man I am enthralled with this woman . I don't like the way she is recorded here.Literal-minded11:14& the number afterward don't seem ther right way in this music or she's not pedalling with the best ideas.I'll hear her Kinderszenen. She weaves a web like a storyteller in Beethoven . Much she does here other pianists refuse to but she makes sense. She was smart and tasteful enough to learn and programme Strauss' Burleske like her Jewish compatriot who she despised Serkin . Her Brahms 2nd told me she was special.Almost everything she does may surprise but if one listens one finds her logic is noble,of depth and musically and emotionally of such a high level .I want to hear her in Kreisleriana .She is a musician to be taken very seriously as we do Kempff,Annie ! Geiseking or Gulda or Hans Richter-Hauser . I so wanted to find her a parody like Nyreghazi but she is subtle and musically intelligent especially here in Schumann moreso than some more famous Leschetitzky pupils . I really want to find more Sauer solo recordings : he is a marvel of wisdom coming from that doubtful tasteless era. Haha

However deplorable Elly Ney was as an individual, her playing is undeniably superb.

@@santorinischnabel Elly Ney was an avid Nazi and played for the troops to cheer them on. Her legacy is forever tarnished.

"Elly Ney was an avid Nazi"... yes, she was a sincere national socialist (not "nazi"), it means to my eyes a wonderful woman, as well a wonderful artist.

@@voceanima3008 Her playing is like random tones and phrases in search of a pulse that cannot be found.

As for myself I think of her, as a pianist, exactly the opposite: she's a GREAT artist.

I thought a pianist-musician who could give us a story-teller's wit ,fancy, whim, charm and imagination galore in Beethoven op.57 would be perfect for Schumann's tales (I've yet to hear her Kinderszenen). Sadly and hugely disappointed here with recorded sound, her pedalling and voicing and overall lack of real imagination here . I'll hear her Schumann concerto and hope for better herBrahms 2 was music of a higher order !

I respectfully disagree. This is a superb performance.
