    Correct me if I'm wrong, but what the game tell us is that all Numen who were part of the Black Knife Assassins were women and not that all Numen are women. We can even create a male Numen protagonist and nothing indicates that we have another female half when we do so. I believe that this whole part of the theory is not very valid, but I agree that Miquella and Malenia's curses were caused by a kind of asexual birth (I think this is a Marika thing and not a Numen thing)

      also, i’ve never seen this claim that Numen are only female either. heck, the friggin dung eater is a Numen. also, if this was a normal thing, why would it have been a big secret? literally all the kingdom would know that the Queen would have a male counterpart if all Numen were like that, but instead it was hidden.

    I’m 99.9% sure Marika and Radagon were once seperate, like D.
    “O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order,
    Thou’rt yet to become me
    Thou’rt yet to become a god
    Let us be shattered both, mine other self.”
    I believe that due to Marika’s godhood and Radagon’s latency, they didn’t suffer from the same restrictions as the Brothers D.
    Marika convinced Radagon to become one with her in order to throw Radagon under the bus so to speak with the Greater Will, as exhibited in the penultimate fight in the game. In order to bring in a new age, the god of the current age pretty much has to die, and depending on the ending you choose, you restore Marika as the vessel of the Elden Ring, escaping death once again through scheming and manipulation.
    Miquella and Saint Trina could be in a similar situation, but we don’t have enough info yet.

    • @tomisinolapo2317
      @tomisinolapo2317 6 місяців тому +7

      Another way to interprete this is not as two separate entities. They have always been one. Marika is probably insinuating that Radagon disagrees with her for instance, she shattered the Elden ring, Radagon tried to repair it. Radagon and Marika are not synced in purpose hence her dialogue . Separate souls separate minds separate thoughts and motive

    • @cjh.1920
      @cjh.1920 6 місяців тому +5

      @@tomisinolapo2317 that’s the prevailing theory rn, but I’ve been thinking about the D storyline a lot. Also, there’s a bit Radagon’s history (that we know of) that also doesn’t make too much sense if Marika and Radagon were always in the same body. There’s evidence for him longing to feel complete when he was leading the armies of the golden order in liurnia, and that he really fell in love with Renalla. Both bits of info you can learn from ya boi the dog pope and various item descriptions, and details that conflict with Radagon always being Marika because he fervently believed in the Golden Order with Marika as his god, which would be weird if he already was the god of the golden order.
      “Thou’rt yet to become a god” makes no sense to me personally if it is the case that they were already one. In the last fight,(and maybe sorta in the new story trailer for sote) we see that Marika Radagon(god of the age) are literally the vessel for the Elden Ring, and Radagon probably could’ve defeated liurnia if that were the case. I’m probably wrong but if I’m right it’ll be the biggest serotonin boost since I beat malenia.

    • @birthrite8254
      @birthrite8254 6 місяців тому +2

      Here is an idea. What if there is no distinction in will? What if that speech is her mocking herself. She made the Radagon identity to steer the theology toward fundamentalist ideas bc she learned from Renalla.
      She is mocking Radagon as leal hound bc he is fake. He seems perfectly loyal to the order bc Marika uses that to evangelize. But, it fails bc Radagon as a leader can never replace Marika. Marika is the god to her people and this "new" figure can't supplant her in the minds of her people.
      When it says she shatters the ring and he repairs it... that is a trick! What she is actually doing is destroying the ring so that it can be reforged by a new Elden Lord/ god. The only way to fix the world is to destroy the ring and world to bring the runes back together.

    • @cjh.1920
      @cjh.1920 6 місяців тому +1

      @@birthrite8254 that’s fair. Especially considering that Miquella and St Trina appear* to be of the same mind.

    From what I recall, the union of Marika and Radagon is synonymous with the alchemic symbol the rebis. It was the “alchemical marriage”, a union and merging of the red king (sun) and the white queen (moon). A hermaphroditic, perfect being. The belief is very similar to the “filius philosophorum”, or philosopher’s child, which very much mirrors what Miquella most likely is.
    It makes me wonder, considering Rennala being so clearly related to the moon and the symbology that stars and other celestial bodies represent regarding sorcery, if this Rebis was initially planned to be made of Radagon and Rennala if Marika and Radagon were truly the same being from the start. Part of me fails to believe that Rennala was just reduced to the barely functional state we find her in through heartbreak alone.

    My personal theory is that Radagon and Marika were originally two unique people, but they fused their souls together during the war with Liurnia, making them like a high functioning version of the D brothers.
    The thing that kicked this theory off was realizing that despite Renalla and Radagon being nothing more than champions, they had three demigod children together, meaning Radagon had to be a demigod when he started a family with Renalla, given the reveal later in the story it's not like it doesn't make sense, but I just found it interesting that I've never seen a seemingly important detail like that getting talked about in the community (It's never even questioned by the characters in universe despite the fact that it would make no logical sense, so I think this might actually be a plot hole) There was also the somewhat secret dialogue Melina reveals if you talk to her in the queen's bedchamber, "Oh Radagon, leal hound of the golden order. Thou art yet to become me, thou art yet to become a god." Seeing as this is a direct quite from Marika herself, to me this is confirmation that despite having to be a demigod at the time of his relationship with Renalla, Radagon and Marika were not always the same person. My theory is that seeing how badly they were getting their asses kicked in the liurnia war, Marika hatched a plan with Radagon to incorporate Luirnia into the golden order without shedding a single drop of blood, Radagon would marry Renally and peacefully merge Liurnia into the golden order as an independent state, meanwhile Radagon had become a demigod by fusing his soul with Marika's, and his children would then be born demigods, who would be granted seats at Leyndell and considered children of Marika despite having no relation. From there Liurnia would essentially just be another branch of the golden order and Radagon could safely leave Renalla to become the second elden lord

    • @axxgardian
      @axxgardian 6 місяців тому

      actually the game says something, I think Enia talks about this with the two finger that every demigod is indirectly offsprings of Marika herself... Clearly implying that Radagon was always Marika. Also in the first cutscene occurs the same thing when you use law of regression incantation in front of Radagon's statue. They change themselves, they metamorph themselves... Also there's not a single event in the game that picture for us that they were two different persons, besides the dialogues we got about Marika and Radagon are vague like Marika was more talking to herself that to someone else

    This theory has a new facet because Miquella was able to abandon St Trina in his path to godhood. "Silver sword of St. Trina, now stained the color of velvet. Inflicts eternal sleep. When St. Trina was abandoned, the faint, light-purple mists coalesced into an intoxicating deep-purple cloud." And in the DLC trailer, it said Miquella was even able to abandon even his fate i.e. St Trina. Radagon-Marika and St. Trina-Miquella connections might suggest that Empyreans are inherently dualistic beings, embodying both masculine and feminine, or spiritual and material aspects. The main point is these two seperate entities as St Trina or Marika-Radagon does not matter, at the end Emperyan's are people who can achieve status of godhood. And since these two fingers are grandchild of Greater Will, which we found out from the Ymir quest and remembrance of Mother of Fingers, it also reaffirms the theory that as long as there is some sort of order, the Greater Will does not care. I mis-intepreted that everything came from the One great meaning Greater will also came from one great, but that was wrong it seems, One Great is the source of primordial life in lands between , but Greater will came and influenced lands between. The reason rune of death was removed from golden order was not only because of Marika's eternal age desire but it also had the power to harm Greater will and its vessels.

    I'm starting to wonder if radagon and Marika both plotted in the shadowlands to create the golden order and this new area. And that ratgon was the one who proposed this whole idea and convinced Marika to do this
    Radagom seduced Marika. Convinced her to betray the current order by stealing a forbidden rune the rune of creation and destruction.
    Then they would form a new realm by sacrificing the old realm to foster its creation.
    This could explain why Radagon is a Leal Hound of the Golden Order and Marika started to have doubts. Radagon was the real master behind it all.
    I think they came to the Lands within the golden star and within it they were converted into one being with two spirits within. Thus Radagon and Marika would be one. This I think was done by Radagon/the Elden Beast to secure power as Marika was likely not fully trusted.
    I think I rambled too much😂

    if Radagon and Marika are the same person, Radagon would have shown up at least once after Marika's village had become extinct, or at any other time during Marika's important events. That short you showed... it's just fan fiction, but there might be something to it.
    To me, Marika and Radagon look completely different in one body. When Marika began to rebel, the Greater Will began to look for a new lord. It didn't quite work out.
    Before Greater Will left the Lands Between, leaving Elden Beast. I don't know if it was after or before The Shattering that the Greater Will did the abominable thing of placing a second entity in Marika's soul called Radagon. In order to enslave Marika so that she would not be able to rebel. and the waiting for a new lord began. It disgust me so much. What you think?

    To explain how she mated with herself, and how you could see her with radagan at the same place and time (which had to happen at some point to keep up the ruse) i imagine she used a mimic tear. If she was indeed one of the numen, she would have known about it.
    Furthermore, her story is similar to the gnostic story of Aeon Sophia, which would be worth a comparison.

    0:22 Assuming Enia is being truthful and her beliefs about the world are accurate, we know that Radagon was Marika before marrying Rennala. Enia says "The demigods are each and all the direct offspring of Queen Marika." Radahn and Rykard get "Demigod Felled" screens, and I think we can assume this is objectively accurate, since "Demigod Felled" was patched in after release, so Fromsoft really wanted that in there. (I think there's also someone or something in-game which specifically calls Radahn the most powerful of the demigods, but I can't find one right now.) So if we take Enia at her word, and take "Demigod Felled" as literal, then Rennala's kids are the *direct* offspring of Marika, so Radagon was Marika when they were conceived.
    This also means that Rennala+Marika fan fiction is canonically accurate.

    With Elden Ring theories I find we often miss the forest for the trees and go a little wild speculating about complex small details while the answers are staring us right in the face.
    That being said you're definitely onto something here, if you're vibing with the parthenogenesis idea I'd recommend taking a look at Human Chimeras (and plant chimerism by extension) as well as Vanishing Twin Syndrome. These are examples of real world biology that Elden Ring may have translated into fantastical manifestations with Marika/Radagon's weird situation. Further building on this is that genetic chimeras may not always share dna with their own children even which definitely fits with what we've seen from ER.

    Considering the amount of inspiration FromSoft takes from alchemy I'd say Radagon/Marika is supposed to be a Rebis, a being which is the union of opposites, of sun and moon, male and female, spirit and matter, becoming a singular entity but one that still retains it's individual traits.

    You don't need the DLC to know Marika = Radagon. It's in the base game .. The statue of Radagon which transforms into a statue of Marika when performing the right gesture in front of it.
    The DLC enpowers the idea, when it shows explicitly that St. Trina is Miquella's counterpart.

    I feel Milicent's words are very telling, in fact, the introduction of a term or concept: "offshoot". I feel like Radagon, Milicent and even Melina are offshoots, parts of an Empyrean that was cast off.
    Radagon is the aspect of Marika, the loyalty and belief in the Greater Will, that she cast off. Millicent and her sisters are shattered from Malenia when she gives up her pride and everything in her fight with Radahn, Milicent is her pride and thus desires to return to Malenia and conjoin once more. And Melina is the body and familial loyalty that Ranni cast off, Ranni is body-less and her body was burned, Melina describes herself as body-less and burned.

    I suppose there is something to the idea, but I really think the answer better lies in the concept of syncretism, and the various historical depictions of gods as simultaneous one being and two or even three separate ones going as far back as Ancient Egypt (and probably earlier). Especially considering that as people and concepts, Radagon and Marika are complex blends of a lot of gods (Norse ones in particular).

    mabie marika was using amber, life is born from the primordial power of glint stone (the blue dudes) and amber is similar but gold

Ie marika and radigon representing the greater will, with Jupiter and Zeus representing the king of the gods. In this instance marika just outright represents the greater will by being the god of life, and radigon representing the greater will by virtue of attempting to repair the ring and ensuring the age of order survived.

And from what we've heard from Melina herself is that she calls Marika "mother" in several locations. But she doesnt have a specific type of butterfly, like the sons of marika do. OR DOES SHE?. See, that would explain why melina also has the power of fire, or being able to use it, why we dont see 4 types of butterflies in th game, because melina Is the smoldering butterfly, just like mesmer.

Melina only says that she was born in the foots of the erdtree and she is burned and bodyless... Seems more like the gloam eyed queen or another part of Marika gerself before Radagon fused himself with her, that would explain why Melina real corpse are nowhere to be found. I mean the only thing in the foots of the erdtree are the eternal city without name and Godwyn's corpse

    With the dlc, i think Radagon and Marika were once not the same being in the start. Messmer, the oldest of all the demigods, have all the characteristics of a Radagon child, so i think Radagon and Marika were together before Marika ascends to godhood. Also, we have that one Marika line "Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god" that may implies Radagon was once separeted from Marika, and that explains why Radagon suddenly appears in the lands between, he could be in the shadow realm in Marika's birthplace or something like that

    Turtle meat is said to boost virility, but none in the Lands

    This may explain why she wanted to have children with Rannala, she knew her own virgin offspring would always become afflicted with Greater-Will-knows-what, so she needed children from another source in case all else failed with her own.

  • @sdgkh09
    @sdgkh09 5 місяців тому

    Even if a being, capable of parthogenesis, mated with a being that reproduce normally, their children will likely still be afflicted in one way or another. Every single child of Marika and Radagon, Marika and Godfrey, and Radagon and Rennala were all afflicted by something in one way or another - except for Godwyn, which is why he was so adored by the entire family.
    It's a classic tale of meeting one's destiny in the very road taken to avoid it; Marika lost everything before godhood and in ascension of godhood, in an attempt to mend everything to avoid losing again, she will lose everything once more. The lengths she went to cover her past up, the sacrifices her children made and the rejection of a few for such hypocritical order - shows how her intentions were that of brutal justice/revenge and of little compassion.
    Each child will either be better or worse than their parents; that definitely showed. Ranni was the scheming but well-intended witch, treacherous to the order but loyal and caring to her followers; Godwyn died despite being the only child being born without any affliction and thus, was a target for experimentations from all sides, yet became the source of Deathblight; Mohg and Morgott both were born with the very things that their mother detested - aspects of the crucible/the hornsent; Radahn was born with the desire for war and conflict, a remnant of her murderous past; granted that Melina is her daughter as well, she too is afflicted with the vision of setting everything ablaze, similar to her mother before establishing the veiled Shadow Realm; and the two with the greatest afflictions were none other than Miquella and Malenia, one with eternal youth, an aspect of Marika not learning from her mistakes and of non-flourishing potential, and the other with scarlet rot, an aspect of Marika's stillness that spreads throughout both realms, a representation of her stale order spreading; even her most devout family member, Messmer, was born with serpentine traits, telling signs of being part of the crucible.
    The fact that Miquella and Malenia, arguably Messmer and Melina too, since it is hinted that Melina is Messmer's younger sister, were born from parthenogenesis, from Marika and Radagon, shows the origin of their innate and deep flaws.
    Marika and Radagon creating their children from themselves and forming an order, a kingdom, is also represented through feminine Miquella and his desire to have masculine Radahn to be his Lord consort, similar how Radagon and Godfrey became Lord and consort to Marika. Even Miquella's wish to create a gentler world through forcible means is how his mother created the Golde Order.

    I grew up with Venom being a big deal in comics and a SNES red cartridge.
    Radagon is not Marika, Radagon is like Carnage from Venom. The Elden Beast goes through a lot of trouble to show us Radagon gets mutilated into a sword, separate from Marika's dead husk in the corner of the room. They are separate. Millicent is not Malenia. Trina is not Miquella.
    The DLC added the Jar Saint process, so the real question is about how far removed from reproduction the demigods were. The "normal" citizens were birthed from the erdtree, were the demigods birthed from warrior Jars? Did Marika bear children like we do or did she make more "jar saints"?
    Bloodborne wasn't shy about pregnancy at all.
