Was gonna comment the same thing as soon as I saw the title and thumbnail. At least it’s different from the hundreds of “Melina is Messmer” theories out there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but what the game tell us is that all Numen who were part of the Black Knife Assassins were women and not that all Numen are women. We can even create a male Numen protagonist and nothing indicates that we have another female half when we do so. I believe that this whole part of the theory is not very valid, but I agree that Miquella and Malenia's curses were caused by a kind of asexual birth (I think this is a Marika thing and not a Numen thing)
It's a reasonably Fair assumption that if someone can rip the concept of death out of reality they can probably have turbo incest with themselves and make some kids.
you are correct, although this might not be a marika thing but an empyrean thing instead, the ability to split yourself and it might be a requirement to become a god
Miq and Mal being cursed pretty much tells us that nothing about Radagon and Marika’s existence is “natural.” also, i’ve never seen this claim that Numen are only female either. heck, the friggin dung eater is a Numen. also, if this was a normal thing, why would it have been a big secret? literally all the kingdom would know that the Queen would have a male counterpart if all Numen were like that, but instead it was hidden. yeah.. their bond and/or just their existence is 100% as effed up in game as it is to we the viewers/players.
@@metalface_villainI think that's interesting because all empyreans have another version of themselves/offspring Miquella and St Trina (speculated) Malenia and Millicent. Radagon and Marika. Ranni and (???) I'm not sure with that one but she did "kill herself" to escape her empyrean fate so she might be an exception
I’m 99.9% sure Marika and Radagon were once seperate, like D. “O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order, Thou’rt yet to become me Thou’rt yet to become a god Let us be shattered both, mine other self.” I believe that due to Marika’s godhood and Radagon’s latency, they didn’t suffer from the same restrictions as the Brothers D. Marika convinced Radagon to become one with her in order to throw Radagon under the bus so to speak with the Greater Will, as exhibited in the penultimate fight in the game. In order to bring in a new age, the god of the current age pretty much has to die, and depending on the ending you choose, you restore Marika as the vessel of the Elden Ring, escaping death once again through scheming and manipulation. Miquella and Saint Trina could be in a similar situation, but we don’t have enough info yet.
Another way to interprete this is not as two separate entities. They have always been one. Marika is probably insinuating that Radagon disagrees with her for instance, she shattered the Elden ring, Radagon tried to repair it. Radagon and Marika are not synced in purpose hence her dialogue . Separate souls separate minds separate thoughts and motive
@@tomisinolapo2317 that’s the prevailing theory rn, but I’ve been thinking about the D storyline a lot. Also, there’s a bit Radagon’s history (that we know of) that also doesn’t make too much sense if Marika and Radagon were always in the same body. There’s evidence for him longing to feel complete when he was leading the armies of the golden order in liurnia, and that he really fell in love with Renalla. Both bits of info you can learn from ya boi the dog pope and various item descriptions, and details that conflict with Radagon always being Marika because he fervently believed in the Golden Order with Marika as his god, which would be weird if he already was the god of the golden order. “Thou’rt yet to become a god” makes no sense to me personally if it is the case that they were already one. In the last fight,(and maybe sorta in the new story trailer for sote) we see that Marika Radagon(god of the age) are literally the vessel for the Elden Ring, and Radagon probably could’ve defeated liurnia if that were the case. I’m probably wrong but if I’m right it’ll be the biggest serotonin boost since I beat malenia.
Here is an idea. What if there is no distinction in will? What if that speech is her mocking herself. She made the Radagon identity to steer the theology toward fundamentalist ideas bc she learned from Renalla. She is mocking Radagon as leal hound bc he is fake. He seems perfectly loyal to the order bc Marika uses that to evangelize. But, it fails bc Radagon as a leader can never replace Marika. Marika is the god to her people and this "new" figure can't supplant her in the minds of her people. When it says she shatters the ring and he repairs it... that is a trick! What she is actually doing is destroying the ring so that it can be reforged by a new Elden Lord/ god. The only way to fix the world is to destroy the ring and world to bring the runes back together.
@@birthrite8254 that’s fair. Especially considering that Miquella and St Trina appear* to be of the same mind. **also I just thought of this, Marika could have intentionally used Radagon to make Miquella disillusioned from the Golden Order, only for Miquella to discover MarikaRadagon due to his ability to have an alter ego, making him dislike the golden order EVEN MORE to push Miquella into doing everything possible to overthrow the golden order with a better one.
snakes will be a major part of the dlc, they are connected with blasphemy, messmer, marika, the godskins and the numen assassins. some theorize that there was some snake deity that marika betrayed and killed to take from it the thing that would make the rune of death to complete the elden ring and the golden order.
@metalface_villain that would make sense considering all the hate toward snakes, the fact that Rykard said a serpent never dies, and their connection to being "formless assassins" as described in the serpent bow's description. Messmer's flame snakes could make alot of sense in this regard.
Point of order: Marika created the Golden Order by REMOVING Destined Death, not by creating it. Previously, Destined Death had been wielded by the Gloam Eyed Queen.
This theory has legs. I always wondered why the improved albinerics looked like frogs, but the first generation not progressing past a tadpole stage could make sense.
From what I recall, the union of Marika and Radagon is synonymous with the alchemic symbol the rebis. It was the “alchemical marriage”, a union and merging of the red king (sun) and the white queen (moon). A hermaphroditic, perfect being. The belief is very similar to the “filius philosophorum”, or philosopher’s child, which very much mirrors what Miquella most likely is. It makes me wonder, considering Rennala being so clearly related to the moon and the symbology that stars and other celestial bodies represent regarding sorcery, if this Rebis was initially planned to be made of Radagon and Rennala if Marika and Radagon were truly the same being from the start. Part of me fails to believe that Rennala was just reduced to the barely functional state we find her in through heartbreak alone.
@@supremo5209 that part of the lore is still up for debate. The short answer is we don’t know, and there’s tangential evidence to suggest either that they were the same person from the start and that they were not and the merging happened later. It’s left up to your interpretation as far as I can tell. I personally believe that they weren’t from the start
Been doing a playthrough to prepare spellblade is pretty fun I barely use projectiles just buff weapons and hit them with giant spectral greatswords/hammers its great 👍
@@justhaku9240 For me it’s a Lightning Ronin build that I’ve been using for my pre-DLC playthrough since it was the build I used to beat the game the first time around, I’m gonna treat it like a continuation of my first run. Was also thinking of making a Miquellan Knight build since I’m a Miquella stan and want to be his blade.
i'm not religious or even remotely well study in theology but i always imagined it's similar to how the father, son and holy spirit are all the same, yet also three seperate entities
Guys, the DLC is just 3 weeks away, please hang in there, I know we are all going collectively insane but hold on for just 3 more weeks, we don't need the Marika is actually a gay frog theory.
My personal theory is that Radagon and Marika were originally two unique people, but they fused their souls together during the war with Liurnia, making them like a high functioning version of the D brothers. The thing that kicked this theory off was realizing that despite Renalla and Radagon being nothing more than champions, they had three demigod children together, meaning Radagon had to be a demigod when he started a family with Renalla, given the reveal later in the story it's not like it doesn't make sense, but I just found it interesting that I've never seen a seemingly important detail like that getting talked about in the community (It's never even questioned by the characters in universe despite the fact that it would make no logical sense, so I think this might actually be a plot hole) There was also the somewhat secret dialogue Melina reveals if you talk to her in the queen's bedchamber, "Oh Radagon, leal hound of the golden order. Thou art yet to become me, thou art yet to become a god." Seeing as this is a direct quite from Marika herself, to me this is confirmation that despite having to be a demigod at the time of his relationship with Renalla, Radagon and Marika were not always the same person. My theory is that seeing how badly they were getting their asses kicked in the liurnia war, Marika hatched a plan with Radagon to incorporate Luirnia into the golden order without shedding a single drop of blood, Radagon would marry Renally and peacefully merge Liurnia into the golden order as an independent state, meanwhile Radagon had become a demigod by fusing his soul with Marika's, and his children would then be born demigods, who would be granted seats at Leyndell and considered children of Marika despite having no relation. From there Liurnia would essentially just be another branch of the golden order and Radagon could safely leave Renalla to become the second elden lord
actually the game says something, I think Enia talks about this with the two finger that every demigod is indirectly offsprings of Marika herself... Clearly implying that Radagon was always Marika. Also in the first cutscene occurs the same thing when you use law of regression incantation in front of Radagon's statue. They change themselves, they metamorph themselves... Also there's not a single event in the game that picture for us that they were two different persons, besides the dialogues we got about Marika and Radagon are vague like Marika was more talking to herself that to someone else
This theory is immediately debunked when you consider the Giant’s Red Braid description that Radagon was a runt giant while Marika is Numen. They’re different people. They produced offspring sexually but they share one body. This exemplifies one of the Major themes in the game: The Law of Regression, where everything seeks to converge.
Uaed to work for a small third party for from software, the real marika is (still currently) nowhere to be found, Radagon..... Is a decoy, another gift from the eternal city, Marikas own silver tear, the elden ring cannot be contained for long in a silver tear hence the Hurry for a new lord, for this world is about to crumble
This theory has a new facet because Miquella was able to abandon St Trina in his path to godhood. "Silver sword of St. Trina, now stained the color of velvet. Inflicts eternal sleep. When St. Trina was abandoned, the faint, light-purple mists coalesced into an intoxicating deep-purple cloud." And in the DLC trailer, it said Miquella was even able to abandon even his fate i.e. St Trina. Radagon-Marika and St. Trina-Miquella connections might suggest that Empyreans are inherently dualistic beings, embodying both masculine and feminine, or spiritual and material aspects. The main point is these two seperate entities as St Trina or Marika-Radagon does not matter, at the end Emperyan's are people who can achieve status of godhood. And since these two fingers are grandchild of Greater Will, which we found out from the Ymir quest and remembrance of Mother of Fingers, it also reaffirms the theory that as long as there is some sort of order, the Greater Will does not care. I mis-intepreted that everything came from the One great meaning Greater will also came from one great, but that was wrong it seems, One Great is the source of primordial life in lands between , but Greater will came and influenced lands between. The reason rune of death was removed from golden order was not only because of Marika's eternal age desire but it also had the power to harm Greater will and its vessels.
I'm starting to wonder if radagon and Marika both plotted in the shadowlands to create the golden order and this new area. And that ratgon was the one who proposed this whole idea and convinced Marika to do this Radagom seduced Marika. Convinced her to betray the current order by stealing a forbidden rune the rune of creation and destruction. Then they would form a new realm by sacrificing the old realm to foster its creation. This could explain why Radagon is a Leal Hound of the Golden Order and Marika started to have doubts. Radagon was the real master behind it all. I think they came to the Lands within the golden star and within it they were converted into one being with two spirits within. Thus Radagon and Marika would be one. This I think was done by Radagon/the Elden Beast to secure power as Marika was likely not fully trusted. I think I rambled too much😂
What if Radagon left Rennala because he found out his female counterpart was already pregnant due to parthenogenesis? Also, your theory that Marika and Radagon have always been together makes sense to me. It's something that has been on my mind since I heard the lines of "the seduction and the betrayal" in the DLC story trailer.
Better than my theory. I always figured Radagon was living weapon that Marika transforms into like a living armor. And as for the kids I mean if she's a god she could potentially be powerful enough to just will her children into existence. If Zues was able to sprout Athena from hia forehead other gods may be capable of such a feat.
if Radagon and Marika are the same person, Radagon would have shown up at least once after Marika's village had become extinct, or at any other time during Marika's important events. That short you showed... it's just fan fiction, but there might be something to it. To me, Marika and Radagon look completely different in one body. When Marika began to rebel, the Greater Will began to look for a new lord. It didn't quite work out. Before Greater Will left the Lands Between, leaving Elden Beast. I don't know if it was after or before The Shattering that the Greater Will did the abominable thing of placing a second entity in Marika's soul called Radagon. In order to enslave Marika so that she would not be able to rebel. and the waiting for a new lord began. It disgust me so much. What you think?
To explain how she mated with herself, and how you could see her with radagan at the same place and time (which had to happen at some point to keep up the ruse) i imagine she used a mimic tear. If she was indeed one of the numen, she would have known about it. Furthermore, her story is similar to the gnostic story of Aeon Sophia, which would be worth a comparison.
0:22 Assuming Enia is being truthful and her beliefs about the world are accurate, we know that Radagon was Marika before marrying Rennala. Enia says "The demigods are each and all the direct offspring of Queen Marika." Radahn and Rykard get "Demigod Felled" screens, and I think we can assume this is objectively accurate, since "Demigod Felled" was patched in after release, so Fromsoft really wanted that in there. (I think there's also someone or something in-game which specifically calls Radahn the most powerful of the demigods, but I can't find one right now.) So if we take Enia at her word, and take "Demigod Felled" as literal, then Rennala's kids are the *direct* offspring of Marika, so Radagon was Marika when they were conceived. This also means that Rennala+Marika fan fiction is canonically accurate.
With Elden Ring theories I find we often miss the forest for the trees and go a little wild speculating about complex small details while the answers are staring us right in the face. That being said you're definitely onto something here, if you're vibing with the parthenogenesis idea I'd recommend taking a look at Human Chimeras (and plant chimerism by extension) as well as Vanishing Twin Syndrome. These are examples of real world biology that Elden Ring may have translated into fantastical manifestations with Marika/Radagon's weird situation. Further building on this is that genetic chimeras may not always share dna with their own children even which definitely fits with what we've seen from ER.
Considering the amount of inspiration FromSoft takes from alchemy I'd say Radagon/Marika is supposed to be a Rebis, a being which is the union of opposites, of sun and moon, male and female, spirit and matter, becoming a singular entity but one that still retains it's individual traits.
I always thought Melina, Malenia and Miquela are brothers and sisters. Because of the butterflies and M's of their names. That said , what if Mesmer is actually the male counterpart of Malenia? Maybe it's a crazy theory but I think it would be cool.
You don't need the DLC to know Marika = Radagon. It's in the base game .. The statue of Radagon which transforms into a statue of Marika when performing the right gesture in front of it. The DLC enpowers the idea, when it shows explicitly that St. Trina is Miquella's counterpart.
I feel Milicent's words are very telling, in fact, the introduction of a term or concept: "offshoot". I feel like Radagon, Milicent and even Melina are offshoots, parts of an Empyrean that was cast off. Radagon is the aspect of Marika, the loyalty and belief in the Greater Will, that she cast off. Millicent and her sisters are shattered from Malenia when she gives up her pride and everything in her fight with Radahn, Milicent is her pride and thus desires to return to Malenia and conjoin once more. And Melina is the body and familial loyalty that Ranni cast off, Ranni is body-less and her body was burned, Melina describes herself as body-less and burned.
I suppose there is something to the idea, but I really think the answer better lies in the concept of syncretism, and the various historical depictions of gods as simultaneous one being and two or even three separate ones going as far back as Ancient Egypt (and probably earlier). Especially considering that as people and concepts, Radagon and Marika are complex blends of a lot of gods (Norse ones in particular).
Keeping my expectations low for the DLC to answer important questions. Most likely will only add more. There’s so much lore in this world that you’d need many different expansions or titles to explain it. Eochaid, badlands, ancient dragons time, crucible, glintstone sorcery, etc.
I feel like radagon is a manifestation of the order that borrows marikas being . She is a vessel for the orders action . An embassy for of sorts . Forced to relinquish her individual
Quite a few gods have different aspects. It seems to come with the territory. In mythology, gods are created from all sorts of inanimate things. So I was less bothered by Marika and Radagon being the same god than others.
There is in game evidence of Parthenogenesis with the albernurics and the end of Latennas quest line with Phillia, the birthing droplet seems to be needed tho, i wonder what the birthing droplet even is, it says they were made of primordial dew, must be linked to Celestial Dew imo, its also called a Night Tear, sounds like a droplet to me, its silver as well mabie marika was using amber, life is born from the primordial power of glint stone (the blue dudes) and amber is similar but gold in this world where grafting is done on people usually a plant thing, and melania having bud babies i think this theory holds weight
Im just trying to figure out, when hornsent grandam is talking to the tarnished, she refers to us as "progeny of the wanton strumpet" implying we are children of marika and godfrey??
AGT: Rennala’s “children” from the rune of rebirth seem similar to the next gen albinauric females (no working legs, etc.). I wonder if they were experimented from this rune and the silver tears by Radigan. Maybe there’s something there….
I’ve always thought that Radigon was what Jupiter is to Zeus. What I mean by that is they are both representing a different elements of the same concept. Ie marika and radigon representing the greater will, with Jupiter and Zeus representing the king of the gods. In this instance marika just outright represents the greater will by being the god of life, and radigon representing the greater will by virtue of attempting to repair the ring and ensuring the age of order survived.
There is alot of plant aspects to marika and her lineage. I believe that what was born in the cocoon in the haligtree wasn't miquella but his clone body that would act as a new body to fit a gods soul.
What if Melina IS Mesmer... I know i sounds crazy but i have a theory: We already know that Miquella and Malenia have their counterparts, and theres one that we dont know of yet, Mesmer's. And from what we've heard from Melina herself is that she calls Marika "mother" in several locations. But she doesnt have a specific type of butterfly, like the sons of marika do. OR DOES SHE?. See, that would explain why melina also has the power of fire, or being able to use it, why we dont see 4 types of butterflies in th game, because melina Is the smoldering butterfly, just like mesmer.
Melina does not says Marika as "mother" and the only time she actually says something about her mother she didn't even specify who that mother is... Melina only says that she was born in the foots of the erdtree and she is burned and bodyless... Seems more like the gloam eyed queen or another part of Marika gerself before Radagon fused himself with her, that would explain why Melina real corpse are nowhere to be found. I mean the only thing in the foots of the erdtree are the eternal city without name and Godwyn's corpse
My headcanon/theory is sometime before she became a god she discarded a part of herself thus creating Radagon, just like how Miquella discarded her love which resulted of St. Trina. I just don't know what's the indication of Radagon to came back to Marika.
There is more convincing theory of Marika/Radagon being alchemical Rebis (perfect being) by Max Derrat, i believe, but i don't remember it's explaining their children curse, nice take.
It sounds simple, but what makes most sense is they are the one, because they both are creations of elden beast, maybe a whole numen race. So elden beast doing conquest of a world not only by war, but in arranged marriage too. Also that is why Ranni says “i wont be controlled by THAT thing”. I believe that she refers to Elden Beast.
Ever since the story trailer came out I've had a theory that Radagon came first and made Marika instead of the other way around. I'm not super attached to it, but none of the rebuttals I've heard when I've explained it have done much to disprove it, so now I'm just waiting for the DLC to see what it clears up about Marika's past and maybe the finer details on how Miquella's Empyreanship works.
What if becoming the god made him female to match his/her elden lord's gender appropriately. Godfrey being male made the god form of radagon become the female Marika.
With the dlc, i think Radagon and Marika were once not the same being in the start. Messmer, the oldest of all the demigods, have all the characteristics of a Radagon child, so i think Radagon and Marika were together before Marika ascends to godhood. Also, we have that one Marika line "Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god" that may implies Radagon was once separeted from Marika, and that explains why Radagon suddenly appears in the lands between, he could be in the shadow realm in Marika's birthplace or something like that
The description of Turtle neck says: A splendid, lengthy cut of turtle neck meat. Material used for crafting items. Turtle meat is said to boost virility, but none in the Lands Between seem to have much appetite for it these days. In Lands Between, the urge to reproduce has waned long ago. So, this means they either don't reproduce at all, or there is another way for reproduction. So I think what was described here makes a lot of sense.
I think you're 100% right. It explains why Marikas children with Godfrey were cursed in their own way (omen), and the children with Radagon are cursed in a completely different way. Also, I totally forgot about the detail that Numen were all women! One thing that I'd like the DLC to explore is the hair - how come Marikas is golden? Was it once red and changed when the erdtree was formed? Just a thought.
This may explain why she wanted to have children with Rannala, she knew her own virgin offspring would always become afflicted with Greater-Will-knows-what, so she needed children from another source in case all else failed with her own.
Even if a being, capable of parthogenesis, mated with a being that reproduce normally, their children will likely still be afflicted in one way or another. Every single child of Marika and Radagon, Marika and Godfrey, and Radagon and Rennala were all afflicted by something in one way or another - except for Godwyn, which is why he was so adored by the entire family. It's a classic tale of meeting one's destiny in the very road taken to avoid it; Marika lost everything before godhood and in ascension of godhood, in an attempt to mend everything to avoid losing again, she will lose everything once more. The lengths she went to cover her past up, the sacrifices her children made and the rejection of a few for such hypocritical order - shows how her intentions were that of brutal justice/revenge and of little compassion. Each child will either be better or worse than their parents; that definitely showed. Ranni was the scheming but well-intended witch, treacherous to the order but loyal and caring to her followers; Godwyn died despite being the only child being born without any affliction and thus, was a target for experimentations from all sides, yet became the source of Deathblight; Mohg and Morgott both were born with the very things that their mother detested - aspects of the crucible/the hornsent; Radahn was born with the desire for war and conflict, a remnant of her murderous past; granted that Melina is her daughter as well, she too is afflicted with the vision of setting everything ablaze, similar to her mother before establishing the veiled Shadow Realm; and the two with the greatest afflictions were none other than Miquella and Malenia, one with eternal youth, an aspect of Marika not learning from her mistakes and of non-flourishing potential, and the other with scarlet rot, an aspect of Marika's stillness that spreads throughout both realms, a representation of her stale order spreading; even her most devout family member, Messmer, was born with serpentine traits, telling signs of being part of the crucible. The fact that Miquella and Malenia, arguably Messmer and Melina too, since it is hinted that Melina is Messmer's younger sister, were born from parthenogenesis, from Marika and Radagon, shows the origin of their innate and deep flaws. Marika and Radagon creating their children from themselves and forming an order, a kingdom, is also represented through feminine Miquella and his desire to have masculine Radahn to be his Lord consort, similar how Radagon and Godfrey became Lord and consort to Marika. Even Miquella's wish to create a gentler world through forcible means is how his mother created the Golde Order.
you know this makes me think of something. Does Mohg need miquella to start his dynasty, or is mohg actually after st.trina and her sleeping/dream powers?
Mohg needs Miquella bcs he himself are an empyrean, would he emerge from his cocoon as a blood god with the ability to compel alffection that Miquella already had would attract more followers to Mohg dynasty... St. Trina in the other hand would be Miquella's fate if he stayed in the Haligtree, bcs we can see Miquella's face in the Haligtree roots where you fight Malenia and the part missing is more like another cocoon, probably the one he was growing himself into St. Trina that have the power to calm even the frenzied flame afflicteds
I think it has to do more with certain plants are androgynous and hermaphrodic in nature... its the same as 'single frog theory' but plant themes abound in Elden Ring, so Im putting all my unfertilized eggs/seeds into the plant theory
I grew up with Venom being a big deal in comics and a SNES red cartridge. Radagon is not Marika, Radagon is like Carnage from Venom. The Elden Beast goes through a lot of trouble to show us Radagon gets mutilated into a sword, separate from Marika's dead husk in the corner of the room. They are separate. Millicent is not Malenia. Trina is not Miquella. The DLC added the Jar Saint process, so the real question is about how far removed from reproduction the demigods were. The "normal" citizens were birthed from the erdtree, were the demigods birthed from warrior Jars? Did Marika bear children like we do or did she make more "jar saints"? Bloodborne wasn't shy about pregnancy at all.
Nice vid! although I like the correlation of possible parthenogenesis with the whole "born of one god" thing and probably the inspiration for the "curses" of Malenia and Miquella, I dont see exactly how this explains the Radagon part. Marika and Radagon appear to share the same body, as we see on the intro to radagon´s fight, in this sense, parthenogenesis doesnt seem like enough in terms of explaining this. Waiting for your coverage of DLC related stuff. Cheers!
I try not to wrap my ahead around it too much. She’s a god. She can literally do anything. Removing death from the order of life, I find to be a more impressive feat than shape shift . I mean Margot can shape shift, technically godrick can too. I’m sure we will get answers in dlc
I always thought about this, if Marika had that (possibly) numen ability of parthenogenesis or whatever ables just women to have offspring, wouldn't any of her sons inherit the same ability? anyway really nice video
Remember the story of Adam and Eve? God makes Eve from Adam’s rib. Notice how Radagon has his ribs exposed with the Elden Ring in it? Marika made Radagon from her own rib

**also I just thought of this, Marika could have intentionally used Radagon to make Miquella disillusioned from the Golden Order, only for Miquella to discover MarikaRadagon due to his ability to have an alter ego, making him dislike the golden order EVEN MORE to push Miquella into doing everything possible to overthrow the golden order with a better one.
maybe marika and radagon are two face of a greater entity, like the two face of a penny,
Fun thing I noticed, the "snails" that cast frost and sometimes call spirits are actually snakes with shells.
snakes will be a major part of the dlc, they are connected with blasphemy, messmer, marika, the godskins and the numen assassins. some theorize that there was some snake deity that marika betrayed and killed to take from it the thing that would make the rune of death to complete the elden ring and the golden order.
@metalface_villain that would make sense considering all the hate toward snakes, the fact that Rykard said a serpent never dies, and their connection to being "formless assassins" as described in the serpent bow's description. Messmer's flame snakes could make alot of sense in this regard.
@@metalface_villain The Gloamed eyed Queen ?
Point of order: Marika created the Golden Order by REMOVING Destined Death, not by creating it. Previously, Destined Death had been wielded by the Gloam Eyed Queen.
@Nemo12417 good point, I didn't think about that. Her order was formed more or less when Maliketh was tasked with sealing away the rune of death.
Its 1:35am and im listening to a man from the other side of the world comparing Marika and Radogan to frogs....i should probably go to bed
I love how Melina is Ranni is the gloam eyed queen is Marika is miquella
This theory has legs. I always wondered why the improved albinerics looked like frogs, but the first generation not progressing past a tadpole stage could make sense.
Yeah, maybe it'll jump off. Heheh
Thought the same, and the second generation can attune to use many different kinds of incantations.

"Life...um...finds a way"
From what I recall, the union of Marika and Radagon is synonymous with the alchemic symbol the rebis.
Dude i was just crawling the commenta looking for someone to mention the rebis
I’m lost, so do you mean radagon and marika are not the same person from the start?
@@supremo5209 that part of the lore is still up for debate. The short answer is we don’t know, and there’s tangential evidence to suggest either that they were the same person from the start and that they were not and the merging happened later. It’s left up to your interpretation as far as I can tell. I personally believe that they weren’t from the start
@@t.b.cont. Yeah i also agree with that, radagon and marika not being the same person from the start is better for me lore wise

It's the hollowing all over again
the fun part will be after the dlc when everyone realizes there are no answers and its all just vague bs
@@miceatah9359 we better get some answers since the dlc is supposed to be an exploration of the lore and how all of this started
I've been saying this for 2 years tho
This aged poorly
This video is more accurate than I could’ve anticipated, the shaman village heavily implies the inspiration from that Chinese myth
To go along with your theory of Marika being apart of the crucible… she was probably the original follower of the formless mother before Moghwyn
Uaed to work for a small third party for from software, the real marika is (still currently) nowhere to be found,
Radagon..... Is a decoy, another gift from the eternal city, Marikas own silver tear, the elden ring cannot be contained for long in a silver tear hence the Hurry for a new lord, for this world is about to crumble

Wake up babe, AgtJake released a new crackpot theory!
Frogs and mushrooms are peas in a pod
Omfg that witch clan story explains so much in elden ring lol
Interesting theory! Very solid! I always thought Radagon was a kind of Mimic tear, reason why Asimi's quest was deleted.
This is probably the most sensible theory I've ever heard! It makes so much sense!
I'm starting to wonder if radagon and Marika both plotted in the shadowlands to create the golden order and this new area. And that ratgon was the one who proposed this whole idea and convinced Marika to do this
Radagom seduced Marika.
There is info on Radagon. He came to the lands between at the head of a great golden host.

Wow this is a good theory and I feel like it explains the gaps pretty good too
To explain how she mated with herself, and how you could see her with radagan at the same place and time (which had to happen at some point to keep up the ruse) i imagine she used a mimic tear. If she was indeed one of the numen, she would have known about it.
Furthermore, her story is similar to the gnostic story of Aeon Sophia, which would be worth a comparison.
Brother you had me at frogs 🐸 🤣😂
I can’t wait to see which theory hits the closest. Been watching these videos everyday 😂🤣
And now wer have proof of Messmer being related to all of them, Melina included ("he had visions of fire like his sister")
You don't need the DLC to know Marika = Radagon. It's in the base game .. The statue of Radagon which transforms into a statue of Marika when performing the right gesture in front of it.
The DLC enpowers the idea, when it shows explicitly that St. Trina is Miquella's counterpart.
It's Adam and Eve. One emerged from the other.
Ranni's body is found on top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia.
Thy Frogs shall be praised
So is St. Trina and Miquella kind of the same as Radagon and Marika? Still confused by that entire concept
Life, uh, uh, finds a way.
So basically: Life...err... finds a way. I saw the frog and I immediately knew this is going the Jurassic Park route
I saw the thumbnail, but I'm actually wondering why there is NO frog between them and no Marika?
Awesome vid!
There is in game evidence of Parthenogenesis with the albernurics and the end of Latennas quest line with Phillia, the birthing droplet seems to be needed tho, i wonder what the birthing droplet even is, it says they were made of primordial dew, must be linked to Celestial Dew imo, its also called a Night Tear, sounds like a droplet to me, its silver as well
mabie marika was using amber, life is born from the primordial power of glint stone (the blue dudes) and amber is similar but gold
in this world where grafting is done on people usually a plant thing, and melania having bud babies i think this theory holds weight
I figured it out:
Radagon is actually Godefroy the Grafted. It all makes sense now.
Actualy there is plenty of evidence that Radagon is from Mountaintops of the Giants. But that is kinda not enough for a solid picture.
*rune of the unborn
I’ve always thought that Radigon was what Jupiter is to Zeus. What I mean by that is they are both representing a different elements of the same concept. Ie marika and radigon representing the greater will, with Jupiter and Zeus representing the king of the gods. In this instance marika just outright represents the greater will by being the god of life, and radigon representing the greater will by virtue of attempting to repair the ring and ensuring the age of order survived.
I THINK THAT LADY BURNING IN THE DLC TRAILER IS MELINA!!!!!! 🔥 How she became burned and bodiless
Hey nice vid. You’re always the best Elden Ring lore hunter that I know of!
Check out Vaati or smoughtown they're also amazing
There is alot of plant aspects to marika and her lineage. I believe that what was born in the cocoon in the haligtree wasn't miquella but his clone body that would act as a new body to fit a gods soul.
i think godwyn was also a child of Parthenogenesis though the tree, it says he was born of the golden boughs
Marika transitioned and is now Radagon. Their offspring are known as an immaculate conception.
Why such a specific thumbnail joke right at the opening if you're not gonna keep that thumbnail lol
Mesmer was sealed inside Merika creating the split personality.
its not meant to make sense, fromsoftware games lore are written to be disturbing, misterious and never present a definitive answer
I like the idea that Melina is Miquella more
Melina does not says Marika as "mother" and the only time she actually says something about her mother she didn't even specify who that mother is...
Lad predicted the DLC
Ummm there was no frog in the thumbnail. What are you talking about
With the dlc, i think Radagon and Marika were once not the same being in the start. Messmer, the oldest of all the demigods, have all the characteristics of a Radagon child, so i think Radagon and Marika were together before Marika ascends to godhood. Also, we have that one Marika line "Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god" that may implies Radagon was once separeted from Marika, and that explains why Radagon suddenly appears in the lands between, he could be in the shadow realm in Marika's birthplace or something like that
Ok the tadpole part is where you got me.
The description of Turtle neck says:
A splendid, lengthy cut of turtle neck meat.
Material used for crafting items.
Turtle meat is said to boost virility, but none in the Lands
Between seem to have much appetite for it these days.
In Lands Between, the urge to reproduce has waned long ago.
So, this means they either don't reproduce at all, or there is another way for reproduction. So I think what was described here makes a lot of sense.
Very skeptical until you brought up Millicent as a ‘bud’ and her sisters. Interesting……
WHERES THE FROG
you know this makes me think of something.
“Zwitter roldt oben salbst” it’s from a song I wrote. the hermaphrodite rolls over itself.
Cheers!
but you can create male numen characters starting the game right?
I suggest thinking on emphyrians as plants.
