Also, Miquella actually tried to bring about the Eclipse, think about it: the Eclipse implies that the Moon covers the Sun, so for this to happen, the stars have to be moving - however, Radahn held back the stars. And that's why Malenia tried to kill him during the Shattering, in order to make the Eclipse happen (that's also why Malenia ignored and spared Godrick - he wasn't her goal, she didn't want to kill without a purpose). In fact, Miyazaki confirmed we have to kill Radahn to enter the DLC. There are also at least two other meanings to the "Eclipse": one, the Night of the Black Knives, which was, at least thematically, an Eclipse (the Moon, Ranni, and the Sun, Godwyn, overlapping in death); the other, whatever the DLC tree is (it's speculation, but I assume the "leaking" tree is the real Erdtree, which we know is as important as the Sun, and the tree strangling it is Godwyn's Deathroot Tree, especially since we see its roots, but never the tree itself - so again, an Eclipse of the Sun, aka Death strangling Life).
I just recently noticed The erdtree in game is completely wrong on the map It doesn’t overlap the deeproot depths and the tree on the overworld map is placed wrong too
If Melania going for Radahn was a must it explains why she fought him the way she did. She was willing to die for that goal for and I think she knew it may go that route before the fight. There was 0 hesitation in her actions, and for someone who takes pride in the fact that that person is undefeated, couldn't stay cold in a heat of action. Radahn was the strongest, and she knew. Miquella did too.
With Mohg having kidnapped him and moved his cocoon beneath that battle field (probably to take advantage of that bloodshed), I foresee another potential fight related to the corruption from the Formless Mother.
After attending a watch party for Todays eclipse (April 8th, 2024), the line about "onlookers unable to move their gaze" hits deeper. hundreds of ppl were just looking up at the sky in silence(aside from some "wows"). It was kinda eerie It was kinda
You know, i wonder: His soul was killed, but his body was left alive. What if the tremendous transformation was because something _moved in?_ A living body without a soul is but a empty vessel, free for the picking. The question then would be _what_ could have found its residence within? Food for thought.
Miquella is one of the most interesting characters and we know little of him. Thanks for this video, Miquella is also known for his Needles and he's depicted in his own city as an adult male holding a gigantic needle, probably for Godwyn.
"The moon will eclipse the sun" makes me think he wants it to fully switch over to his female counterpart to literally embody being an empyrean, from there on idk what the plan was,I remember Tarnished Archaeologist "Purify the Erdtree" theory, recommend giving it a look
I feel like Tarnished Archeology is the closest from all yt channels I've seen to describing what is actually happening in the lore. I haven't seen anyone else bringing up Marika pose, or mentioning that she is impaled by red spear.
@@Sireas93yeah TA is on another level alot of people are just speculating based on story telling trops but he delves into the real life history of everything and actually backs his points up with good logic.
So Elden Ring DLC releases the year of an eclipse... wonder if that was planned at all. The last big solar eclipse was 2017, and earlier that year Ringed City / DS3 was released.
That’s just in the US though. There’s a solar eclipse every 6 months, they’re just visible in different places. You’d think that if it were on purpose they’d time it with eclipses in Japan, not the US
I don't participate in lore discussion so I'm not well versed but could the eclipse represent lunar princess ranni blocking the sun (godwyn the golden) to create a shadow. Weren't Miquella and Ranni compatriots in some way as seen by the torrent connection. Could Miquella have sacrificed godwyn his self to get to the shadow realm by helping orchestrate the night of the black knives? There has to be some connection between the eclipse and the moon.
The problem with Miquella trying to communicate with Godwyn through the roots of the Haligtree is that the Haligtree is just about the only place in the game that _isn't_ connected to the Erdtree's roots/Deathroot. I think he specifically grew the Haligtree outside of the Lands Between to escape the influence of the Greater Will.
The reason the comparison to berserk is so big is due to the casualty of the story. A lot of the lore we read is obscured during our play through. Everyone loves Miquella. Except ranni. I believe them two worked together. Miquella had to have known godwyn was going to die. It makes sense for what he’s doing now. If godwyn didn’t die would he still be doing what he’s doin? I doubt that.
They used Miquella the same way they used marika. As a husk and vision for what people view the lands between until we ourselves see through the corruption. Same with Miquella. That’s why emperians are at ware with the outer gods. They cannot control their own fate. Miquella and marika want the same thing. Rid of the outer gods influence.
I'm not sure if you've missed something from Miquella's and Godwyn's relationship, but it is quite interesting to humor the idea that Miquella purposely manipulated Mohg into kidnapping him to denounce his power and connection with the Golden Order in order to make it to the Realm of Shadows. After all, we can deduct from the dialogue in one of the voices from the trailer how Miquella's influence can be more terrifying and manipulative than benelovent.
But cheating the haligtree in on itself IS already herétic in on itself from the Golden order's POV, its why morgott brands both miquella and malenia as traitors despite that as Far as they know the two never acted directly against the Golden order, hell there are Stone carvings in the haligtree that depict a hooded figure(supposedly adult miquella) with a giant nail in the erdtree's roots(in reference to the Idea of nailing a tree stump to kill its roots), there is no point in miquella allying with mohg
@@mobgabriel1767 yep it's complicated because they haven't publicly denounced The Golden Order, but their actions (especially Miquella's) point towards complete defiance; from creating a tool that can sever the influence of outer gods to trying to create his own symbol of faith through the Haligteee. It's not so much that Miquella is allied with Mohg, but rather that Mohg got "charmed" with a similar effect from the Bewitching Branch that led him to love Miquella so much to the point of stealing him and trying to build a whole dynasty with him
@@osheroth but miquella's and malenia's actions of splitting off and creating their own order are clearly known, what isnt known is miquella's abduction by mohg só why would him being abducted denounce him more? Also why the hell would miquella even charm mohg? What would miquella even gain from his kidnapping? Mohg hás literally nothing that Miquella could bê interested in and there is the possibility that Miquella doesnt even know about mohg being alive due to mohg's actions being completely covert
Love the material, man. What if the Eclipse was a prior attempt by Miquella to reach the Shadow Realm, and Mogh's abduction was part of a more elaborate plan or an unexpected hiccup, that ended up getting him there?
I think that mohg's kidnapping might've let him stuck there, miquella being in the shadow realm pretty much confirms that there is no way he could have influenced mohg into kidnapping him(alongside the fact that miquella doesnt hás anything to Win by joining mohg's side), he probably reached the shadow realm trought the haligtree
Killin it again with the music and cinematography. You've managed to carve out a unique look and feel for your channel and that's no small feat, Tarnished! Great work

We can also simply take a look at what an eclipse is at face value to help us answer questions like this. An eclipse is where the moon perfectly aligns with the sun causing a shadow to appear on the earth. The Sun is Gold, Moon is Silver. The Sun is Masculine, the Moon is Feminine. The Sun is Day, the Moon is Night. At a face value even, an eclipse is a symbol that speaks directly to the subconscious as a means of combining two opposing forces in a momentary harmony. Such things also exist temporarily in chemistry or Alchemy as sudden states of unification, that are somehow very unstable. Life and Death Day and Night Male and Female There is a heavy fisted application of Dualism in Fromsoft games, I'm certain that Miquella was searching to bring about an Eclipse in order to help revive Godwyn. I feel he may have achieved that momentary blink of unstable unification, and may have seen a glimpse of Truth as a result, ultimately abandoning the project in favor of his Rebirthing ritual.
Very well done Jake. As with everything in Elden Ring, more answers lead to more questions. In my last play through, I spent much time in Castle Sol also. I began to think about the significance of the Eclipse, and, why there was a rather unique Mausoleum there. The Mausoleums duplicate remembrances. The Eclipse (rebirth, renewal). You have Miquella (Eternal Youth), and Godwyn (Eternal Death, or, eternal Undead). There are depictions in this game of one trees roots growing from the top of a tree below it, We have the Shadow of the Erdtree under a Veil (eclipse?) So, what does this all mean? I have no idea. But, my theory is this. Eclipse, Mausoleums, roots intertwining, eternal youth and death....Miquealla perhaps, was/is attempting to fuse his Soul into the Godwyns body. Why? Because it would in theory end the Death blight seeping from Godwyns corpse, and, it cures Miquella of his eternal youth. This also could give a reason as to why Melenia marched her ass all the way to Caelid to face off against Radhan...because he held the Stars (Moon included) in place. There COULDN'T be an Eclipse because of him. She lost, which is why the Ghost is lamenting. (Which is why you have to defeat Radhan before the DLC). Obviously Mohg stealing his body probably hindered things a tad also. If Ranni used a ritual to free her soul and destroy Godwyns body...then surely Miquella could use the Ritual to free his soul INTO Godwyns body. To offer a more, perhaps, sinister/selfish reason...is that this May grant Miquella ultimate power over Life and Death. In essence, he would become the God of the Eclipse, and have full Lordship and control over all those born, and all those that die. IE, he would actually become the next Great Tree (and I believe is another step in his plan to remove the Influences of ALL the Outer Gods, including the GW). Obviously this is all theory, and it all could be dead wrong. Either way, I believe that Marika's attempt to remove death was more successful than she had hoped....In essence, she created the violation of the Golden Order, she created Those that Live in Death, because they CAN'T die....but that's a completely different topic.
Throwing some ideas around: 1. Two headed snake reminds me of Messmer, maybe his lil skinny red snakes are just one two-headed snake 2. I always found the ghost’s dialogue from castle Sol to be kind of telling. Like, why did it say that it will never see the Haligtree? Is Miquella like incentivizing them to bring about an eclipse by saying they will only get access to the haligtree if they can summon an eclipse I don’t get it. Seems kind of manipulative on Miquella’s part but I guess that wouldn’t be very surprising
I always thought Miquella was the body seen in the roots of the Haligtree... but what if that's Godwyn? .... Also, Miquella and Godwyn both seem to have parts of their story that seem to relate to Griffith from Berserk... our view of Godwyn is similar to how people out of the know see Griffith. Golden child that does nothing but succeed and win... then BAM, out of the picture... I saw Godwyn in the Depths and it reminded me of Griffith being tortured......... Also Messmer's arm looks like Miquella's arm coming out of the pod at Mogh's place. So there's that.
Kinda ironic how Miquella is obsessed with Godwyn, while Mogh is definitely obsessed with Miquella for the sake of the Moghwyn dynasty. Anyways I throw my quick theory that Godwyn is The Sun and he sent presents to Ranni from Castle Sol like the Icerind Hatchet to court her and tragically we end up with lusterless sun and a dark moon joined in an eclipse.
Miquella and Godwyn were definitely close, even in Haligtree we see a statue of Malenia,Miquella, and someone who I believe to be Godwyn hugging them. Abandoning Fundamentalism is fs in character as his brother and sister have been inflicted by something they have no control over. Where I get stumped is, what is end goal essentially, I feel it can go both ways I like to lean more towards him being good, but also alot points to him using us for the sake of his plan.
It feels like everyone is overlooking some essential things. Ranni and Miquella knew each other, to the point he trusted her with a spirit summoning bell to give to whoever rides torrent, who he knew. An eclipse is a moon covering the sun, Ranni is a dark moon. There are lesser black knife assassins that guard the entrance to the haligtree. If anything, Miquella worked with Ranni to get Godwyn killed. But then Ranni did a plot twist at the end. It feels like this is being overlooked because, in a meta sense, Miquella has entranced the player base with affection towards him based on the mysterious nature of how he is covered
@@epiccthuluI actually have a theory about this commented on another of this channel's video about the lie of the Golden Order: ua-cam.com/video/vp6ck7yDiHA/v-deo.html
I have been anti Miquella since day 1. A genius in a child’s body would know that the only way to gain power is not through fear or brute force. He used his eternal visage of innocence to manipulate those around him. He “compelled’ love and devotion. Godwyn is in a sort of dark dream realm. Likely the one Miquella needs to truly assend to power. He needs to evict Godywn to achieve his goal. Tells his followers I do this for the love of my brother! But truly, he does it for himself. I can’t imagine find and returning his soul to his deceased rotting corpse would be a good thing. Horrifying really.
The game has so many different layers aside from the ingame story thats been told... The pictures with sun and moon and miquella as the healer are highly alchemical or occult (psychological) loaded pictures.. u might wanna look into individuation (C.G.Jung) or the magnus opus / the philosophers stone.
you can see an eclipse every dusk from the first step. The dragon temple ruins island block light from the setting sun. Coincidentally or perhaps not, the path of light the sun cast on the ocean almost leads to roundtable hold, and in the opposite direction is farum azula, where you can always see the sun from. Its almost like farum azula at some point, eclipsed the sun. All the martyrs and effigies around look like the shape of Marika's soreseal and the rune of death, but describe as being a connection to other worlds. I wonder if those other worlds could include the land of shadow, and when an elipse is cast, souls of the dead can spill into the lands between and spread not only undead, but deathroot too. I believe like regular trees grow toward the sun, there is a dark tree in the shadow land that grows toward the dark, and when an eclipse is cast or deathroot is spreading, these death trees will grow in the dark or toward an eclipse. I think this could explain the death of the fire giants, and the one with a lid blocked the eclipse from affecting him/her
Tarnished Archeology has a bit of content on Miquella. From what I remember - they pointed out he is very closely related to Godwyn - from item descriptions to visuals, it seems that Haligtree was meant equally for him and Malenia, as for helping Godwyn. Including the eclipse, which didn't happen for the same reason for which Ranni questline halted.
In Tarot which is playing cards from Ancient Rome and Greece that *could* be housed for fortune telling (tho it was mostly used like the trump cards in Uno) card the 14th of the major arcana and the most often misunderstood one is 13: Death. The card symbolizing change, new beginnings for the better. While upside down symbolizing destruction and the absolute end In Ancient Rome when a general was very successful it got a parade where they was pulled in a chariot around town, meanwhile there was another person in the chariot that whispered “memento mori” in his ear. Memento mori is a Latin phrase that can really translate to: remember that you are mortal, remember that you will die, remember your death This is used in a positive light as you may be good but don’t get a big head, you ain’t no god, you are just as fallible as everyone else, it will soon end so enjoy it while you can. Also vaguely threatening, which is the best kind of threat
i think the only possible moment for Mogh to capture Miquella was when Malenia went to defeat Radahn so Miquella's destiny could go on. That is one of the few momets for me that I can get in place in a timeline some of the lore events
Why did you have to hit me with that music though (if you know, you know). Great video by the way, I just had to rewind after going on a nostalgia journey first 😅
what good timing for me lol, I was at castle sol in my new playthrough the other day and read the dialogue of that spirit guy near the 2nd haligtree medallion and got curious about it because I hadn't heard anyone talking about it, I searched a little on the internet about it but couldn't find that many discussions
Please look into the towering sister Albenoric being connected to the giant Nox corpses as being a part of some sort of birthing ritual and also look into the St. Trina Lilies all over at the bottom of the Haligtree, they aren't lootable but are very clearly St Trina lily if you look at them and the icon, there is many purple butterfly there that look like they would be related to St. Trina mingling with the Aoenian butterflies. Perhaps this proves St. Trina is Miquella as those Lily are rare but not at the Haligtree. They numb senses and help with pain, and more importantly, they help you or force you to sleep, perhaps the original intent was to help ease his sisters ailment not only from the rot but also, from the wounds she received in battle, hence why we find her "asleep" and the first thing she mentions is how she slumbered for so long. Thank you, fellow truth seeker.
Loved the video! One thing I wanted to point out something. In an interview, Miyazaki said there is a hidden meaning in the Title of the dlc. If you look closely the “o” kind of looks like a two-headed oruborus, but the snakes look like trees.
Maybe Miquella wants the eclipse for Godwyn's sake for the same reason he may want Malenia to full bloom into the rot goddess? It seems like the reason the golden needle causes a more powerful bloom is because it's ability to stave off rot might be a double edged sword: it cures the symptoms, but allows it to "build up" so when the flood gates finally give it causes a more powerful bloom. Maybe Miquella realized this, and learned he can't start curing it until it's come to a conclusion? Goddess of rot and and the eclipse for Godwyn are both presumably the full impartation of godhood for both of them. A thought I had awhile ago while I was obsessing about Miquella, is that even though Godwyn and Malenia's afflictions have a lot of parallels, they are also kinda opposite. As far as the host/affliction relationship goes, Malenia was born with it, while Godwyn was "infected" with it. So while Malenia was built up on the affliction, with Godwyn the affliction was built up on him. So since unalloyed gold was a major breakthrough for Miquella with his research for his sister, maybe he had the breakthrough for Godwyn. But with the crucible. Their afflictions are opposite. So since unalloyed gold (pure, singular substance) helps Malenia, maybe the crucible (a mixture of everything) helps Godwyn in the same way somehow? It also makes sense considering their origins at birth. Malenia being born of a Rebis fitting well with unalloyed gold, and Godwyn plausibly being related to the crucible due to his birth circumstances. Considering his only siblings were omens. Food for thought anyways
What if Miquella is trying to seed his own soul into Godwyns souless remains? Solving his eternal youth situation? Maybe the eclipse was an essential part in that process but Mohg interrupted?
@@Galamoth06 I think so. The figure in the tree almost looks like a pregnant woman, but her stomach has been torn open.. what if the cocoon was a kind of womb?
@@TheWirewitch It certainly looks that way, but it's still very strange if it's the case. Not to mention Mohg has it resting on what appears to be a huge pelvis (I really don't understand this, it doesn't seem to have any physical connection to the cocoon. Maybe Mohg just had some bones lying around and thought it would be thematically appropriate?). The other main theory is that the figure in the tree was supposed to be Miquella's new body.
@@Galamoth06 I don't think its an accident that Mohg placed the cocoon on a pelvic bone, he's wanting Miquella to wake, since he wants to marry him or.. whatever.. he's clearly interrupted a process, one he's trying to emulate without fully understanding, or maybe he does and his interference he's hoping to influence Miquella's rebirth to suit his own motivations. I personally think the figure in the tree is mostly symbolic, it really drives home the point Miquella wasn't birthed yet, rather torn from the belly in a crude and violent caesarian.
Amazing video. Maybe this has been discussed, but I think the Eclipse is one involving the trees, and not so much celestial bodies. The Castle Sol sigil depicts the eclipse with the Sun’s light literally leaking out like we see happening between the twisting trees shown in the trailer and promotion material for the DLC. It is a tree of death eclipsing one of light. I am trying to rationalize how this might fit in with Miquella’s plan, but I’m fairly certain the eclipse he may want to bring about has already happened or is happening right now.
Its worth noting how Godwyn's character seems to mirror the norse god Baldur, whose beauty is said to outshine the sun He was also the first of the norse gods to die, an event which is said to be what triggers Ragnarok, just like Godwyn's death led to the shattering There is also a plot to bring back Baldur from Hel, due to him not having a warriors death, similar to how Godwyn didn't die a true death
@@millionairesburner24 not hate, we have the best food, especially in southeast Louisiana so that’s a plus, rich history, there’s just not much to do if you don’t want to go to the cities, which are full of criminals and degenerates like in New Orleans, which used to not be the case
on the cliff above the castle is a snow covered blob of what looks like growth of Godwyns deathblight like near summonwater village. Also the ghost trees and the "cataclyscm mechanic" in sekiro dubis video makes me wonder if those trees only appeared AFTER the eclipse which could have been triggered. i wonder if the DLC was actually always planned ot be in the game but had to be sifted and shifted around to fit the budget and time constraits of release. much like the game itself the dlc gets to rebirth itself anew.
If they’re going to give Godwyn a true death, are they going to give Godwyn his souls back just to kill him all over again? It would be quite the twist to see the most beloved empyrean, Miquella, commit such a heinous act against his own brother!
The eclipse symbol and the shotel look like the death rune and cursemark of death. I think bringing the eclipse also symbolises giving Godwin a true death via completing the circle. Miquella does want Godwin to die a true death, after all.
we thought this during our research but thought this would be better to have a separate video based around that concept to give it its own moment! but i’m so glad you think the same as Jake and I on this!!
The cape design knot pattern is not really closed loop. You can even argue it looks like thorns. I had thought the eclipse might be linked more to Radahn, Ranni and Malenia, since eclipse is formed by the sun and the moon... But I'm gonna call it here. Mesmer is not going to be the last boss. He will be the last to stand in the way of you and Miquella fighting Godwyn to give him a final death.
Haven't watched but I always thought that Godwhen is Miquella’s last obstacle. He lives in the dream realm and is immune to Miquella’s charm (the undead are not affected by bewitching branch). So by restoring his soul, he will be removed from the shadow/dream realm and thus be obstructed no more.
I am naturally suspicious to a fault. “He has learned to compel love” (paraphrasing there prob). People who are truly loved don’t need to compel it, they don’t try. Thus his obsession to “revive” Godwyn was never a loving gesture. It’s to achieve his only goal. Himself. I can’t wait to be right (I hope)
they had to have taken SEVERAL key notes from Berserk- calling it now- Milena is Miquella, and the eclipse was meant to resurrect Miquella’s body but failed(which may have been planned). I believe the tarnished will be manipulated by miquella/milena to slay radahn and enter the shadow lands to aid Miquella, who will be revealed to be the true enemy who seeks to bring destined death to all beings equally.
Life had to be terrifying for them old people if an eclipse meant killing their strongest god Like imagine your just chilling and one day god just fucking dies
Miquella being an empirean, godwyn was intended to be his consort. One of the ghosts in castle Sol mentions that the eclipse did not happen and that her comrade remains soulless, referring to Godwyn. You can also infer it because of their titles: Godwyn the golden, and Miquella the unalloyed, no other characters have titles directly referencing gold. The same way as the eclipse shotel uses darkflame, Miquella may have tried to cause an eclipse to get access to the darkflame to be able to completely kill Godwyn, granting him the true death.
Metal greatshield painted with a sun in eclipse. Carried by the headless mausoleum knights. The eclipsed sun, drained of color, is the protective star of soulless demigods. It aids the mausoleum knights by keeping Destined Death at bay. This bit always makes me feel like his intent was not to give Godwyn a true death, but to restore his soul. The Eclipse appears to weaken Destined Death, which wouldn't really help with killing Godwyn.
From the Eclipse Greatshield description: “The eclipsed sun, drained of color, is the protective star of soulless demigods. It aids the mausoleum knights by keeping Destined Death at bay.” When we killed Radahn, we broke both the dark moon and the sun from the eclipse that Radahn had them trapped in. Now Destined Death can no longer be held at bay.
Happy Eclipse Day! Totally didn't plan that out or anything 👀

so massmir came from a collection of blessings as life as whole was part of one thing and he got the snake, dragon combo or other explination we would find by playing the dlc
the old man being a tarnished who was leading the land and roling over it and Marika betrayed him and now she realized the golden order then she flips it back to the tarnished to set the records straight

FromSoftware causing a real life eclipse to boost hype for the dlc shows why they are the best game developers
Now that's marketing!
True dedication.
Only Miyazaki could pull off a stunt like this
😄🍷
Releasing it on the summer solstice is also a pretty sus move
I just recently noticed
The erdtree in game is completely wrong on the map
It doesn’t overlap the deeproot depths and the tree on the overworld map is placed wrong too

You know, i wonder: His soul was killed, but his body was left alive. What if the tremendous transformation was because something _moved in?_
A living body without a soul is but a empty vessel, free for the picking. The question then would be _what_ could have found its residence within?
Food for thought.
I believe that his body has no soul and the soul sort of guided the body’s growth so without the soul his body grew without guidance or order.

Guts in the corner “no no no wait wait wait”
Smoughtown has discussed thr relationship between Miquella and Godwyn a bit.
Love the material, man. What if the Eclipse was a prior attempt by Miquella to reach the Shadow Realm, and Mogh's abduction was part of a more elaborate plan or an unexpected hiccup, that ended up getting him there?
Happy coincidences don't happen in fromsoft games.
Miquella looking at mogh from the shadow realm like thanks dumber you just granded my wishes lol

Life and Death
Day and Night
Male and Female
There is a heavy fisted application of Dualism in Fromsoft games, I'm certain that Miquella was searching to bring about an Eclipse in order to help revive Godwyn. I feel he may have achieved that momentary blink of unstable unification, and may have seen a glimpse of Truth as a result, ultimately abandoning the project in favor of his Rebirthing ritual.
I just want the dkc to be as memorable as ashes of ariandel , the sister friede fight was so fkn legit
You ended the vid with my absolute favorite Skyrim song. Awesome !
Throwing some ideas around:
1. Two headed snake reminds me of Messmer, maybe his lil skinny red snakes are just one two-headed snake

Beautifully researched and presented. Excited to see what answers will be revealed.
Ooooooo good timing for this video. Happy eclipse!
Bro this video is crazy! Good shit
The eclipse Miquella was trying to perform, to revive a soulles comrade..had to him thr player character
Wow!!!! New sub here. Loved this video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and extensive research into a game we all love.
And Miquella makes self-detonators out of his devotees, from Haligtree soldiers to his sister, Malenia. Everyone seems willing to die for Miquella.
There’s also a headless eclipse knight guarding a Blacknife Assassin in Liurnia.

Heartbreaking, if Miquella is doing this all for his siblings... that is such a brotherly move
The game has so many different layers aside from the ingame story thats been told... I have a very confident feeling that Shadow of the Erdtree is going to take The Old Hunters' place as my favorite DLC of any videogame
you can see an eclipse every dusk from the first step.
While upside down symbolizing destruction and the absolute end
In Ancient Rome when a general was very successful it got a parade where they was pulled in a chariot around town, meanwhile there was another person in the chariot that whispered “memento mori” in his ear. Memento mori is a Latin phrase that can really translate to: remember that you are mortal, remember that you will die, remember your death
This is used in a positive light as you may be good but don’t get a big head, you ain’t no god, you are just as fallible as everyone else, it will soon end so enjoy it while you can. Also vaguely threatening, which is the best kind of threat
i think the only possible moment for Mogh to capture Miquella was when Malenia went to defeat Radahn so Miquella's destiny could go on. That is one of the few momets for me that I can get in place in a timeline some of the lore events

what good timing for me lol, I was at castle sol in my new playthrough the other day and read the dialogue of that spirit guy near the 2nd haligtree medallion and got curious about it because I hadn't heard anyone talking about it, I searched a little on the internet about it but couldn't find that many discussions
I love how well skyrim background music goes so well with elden ring videos
I watched a total solar eclipse earlier today. Miquella missed it from his egg, sadly.
Obviously "My brother come join me" but I did read that thumbnail as "And I'm Coming For You Brother!" Hulk Hogan style
What if Miquella is trying to seed his own soul into Godwyns souless remains? Solving his eternal youth situation? Maybe the eclipse was an essential part in that process but Mohg interrupted?
Wasn't that what the Haligtree cocoon was for?
Great choice of opening music
Amazing video. Maybe this has been discussed, but I think the Eclipse is one involving the trees, and not so much celestial bodies. The Castle Sol sigil depicts the eclipse with the Sun’s light literally leaking out like we see happening between the twisting trees shown in the trailer and promotion material for the DLC. It is a tree of death eclipsing one of light. I am trying to rationalize how this might fit in with Miquella’s plan, but I’m fairly certain the eclipse he may want to bring about has already happened or is happening right now.
The amount of Godwyn’s eyes on the character on a second play or just knowing of them, will change the way you look at Godwyn’s death
Its worth noting how Godwyn's character seems to mirror the norse god Baldur, whose beauty is said to outshine the sun
He was also the first of the norse gods to die, an event which is said to be what triggers Ragnarok, just like Godwyn's death led to the shattering
There is also a plot to bring back Baldur from Hel, due to him not having a warriors death, similar to how Godwyn didn't die a true death
Yeah only we're able never to truly resurrect him

No, he means Godwyn. His plan was interrupted abruptly by Ranni.
The weapon litereally is found near Basilisks, has an enchantment on it for intantly killing undead, it was about godwyn.
on the cliff above the castle is a snow covered blob of what looks like growth of Godwyns deathblight like near summonwater village.
What makes sense to me is that miquella’s body is dead as if he was recreating a similar issue as godwyn so he could fix it
The cape design knot pattern is not really closed loop.
The Erdtree is a lense, as a tree is a lense under the eye of the sun and the moon that creates the rings of light
for real though, did you know, trees can act as pinhole lenses during an eclipse, which cast down rings of light upon the ground

This DLC is gonna be phenomenal!!!!
Also, no undead at Haligtree. They can’t be controlled. Miquella’s natural enemy.

I believe the tarnished will be manipulated by miquella/milena to slay radahn and enter the shadow lands to aid Miquella, who will be revealed to be the true enemy who seeks to bring destined death to all beings equally.
radahn’s death is vital to the eclipse plan bc he holds the stars at bay

Do you think that Rannis great rune on the moon has something to do with making the eclupes faulty?
It aids the mausoleum knights by keeping Destined Death at bay.”
When we killed Radahn, we broke both the dark moon and the sun from the eclipse that Radahn had them trapped in. Now Destined Death can no longer be held at bay.
