I have lockup issues when I combine my Furia and my RGB2HDMI - both work flawlessly on their own. Also, IDESpeedup makes a HUGE difference when combined with ShadowROM - like from 700 KBS to 3+ MBS. Many, many times faster.
One thing I have pointed out on the RGB2HDMI design is that drawing the amount of power the Pi needs to run from the power traces on Denise is a Bad Idea. You may find if you add an extra 5V feed to the Pi (from the floppy header from example) things get more stable
@@10MARC I mean feed 5V power into the USB port from the Amiga itself.. it's still the same 5V, so no, nothing bad happens. The only difference is there's thicker wires which are able to handle more current
Nice! Thanks to your earlier videos, I've already added the RGB2HDMI to my A600, so I'm looking forward to finding out all about this! Thanks for all you do, Jan.
A great collection of things happening there on the A600. Pretty much as pimped as you'd like to keep true to the original idea. (ie no Vampire). It's always slightly ironic to see a modern single board Pi relegated to a single task of converting some video, when it could emulate the whole amiga faster than the original, but I guess this is tribute to how much we love the authentic machine itself!
💪😁🔥🔥🔥 Interesting video! P.S. It looks so easy to make such a video until... you really start doing this. Currently I'm preparing my first "repair" type film and video editing is so time consuming.... Probably doing this since so much time you have everything much better prepared but still my small initial experiences make me to appreciate your work much better!

What about reinstalling the kickstart switcher? It looks like its overhanging PCB may just sit nicely on top of the furia and provide some added stability. Also an extra socket under the switcher could add some clearance if needed.
How come it was showing 8mb of fast RAM... and 1.5mb slow... Also, the screen only showed barely 5mb of (Fast) RAM total. I read somewhere that some RAM is reserved for the PCMCIA port... Guessing you are using MapROM so that's at least 1mb.... So where did the extra RAM go?
OS 3.2 works without any issues in my A600 alongside the Furia and the Furia really is absolutely PICKY with both SD- and CF-Cards brands and sizes. I never managed to get it to work with models larger than 512 MB, well, you can live with it...BTW: there is a nice GUI for furiatune - renders things much cosier...I´m using a 4,5 Amp power supply as well - might be an issue for some users...
Works for me up to and including 1gb. Over that it only works using an older version of scsi.device and then performance of the drive slows down by 50%.
If I remember correctly, with the original 3.2 upgraded KS, you had to disable the cache on the CPU to get it to boot at all (I believe it was cache, it's been about a year since I upgraded a 600, and didn't keep it long afterward), but I believe they fixed that issue in a later patch level of the 3.2 OS. You may not need it for yours, but there's a 'thing' on Thingiverse that goes on top of the Furia, between it and the keyboard that helps keep it locked in the socket a bit better.
huh.. Adrian Black install an upgrade that connects just like this one.. they wonder how does it work.. it disable the original onboard chip.. how? ... or do they work together..
Unusual orientation for the power switch on your power supply. Looks like you're pressing it downwards to turn it on instead of the typical upwards direction I'm accustomed to. Is that typical for Europe (I'm from the USA)?
Great video, thanks. RGB - HDMI - how did I miss this? Time to shop. The a600 has become a little dream machine, starting out as an ugly duckling. I have a Vamp in one of mine, but am planning on another Furia in the other a600. How did the 3.2 work with other software with this config? Did I miss that?
I do not know if this was mentioned or not but have you tried flipping the pins of the Kickstart Switcher so the PCB is going down, away from the Furia accelerator?
Would you be so kind and could you point me to the shop where you got your denise hat for the rgb2hdmi? the Furia appears to use actual CPU and FPU parts - that's interesting - guess there's plenty of those to be had for serving niche markets like retro computing (and with current chip shortage, perhaps even easier to get than some FPGA chips???)
Jan your timing of his video to me its ironic as I just installed a Furia in my 600 worked perfect 1st try. I have a multi 4 rom switchable kickstart installed, it didn't have enough clearance between the Furia like yours so I added a dip socket as a spacer and gave it height to clear it and without hitting the keyboard so you could try that.
Exactly what I thought. I was scrolling down to see if anyone else had the same idea so I didn’t just duplicate a post. Not sure how much height there is to allow it, but I think it should fit.

I’ll say it again. I don’t think Jan is lucky it all works. I think his methodical approach to exceptionalism ensured this accelerator would work. No hack and slash job has ever been seen on this channel. Patience and dedication win out most.
Do you have enough keyboard clearance to stack sockets to get the kick start switcher higher so the pcb clears? Otherwise some ribbon cable and couple of sockets to make an extension to the socket.
Maybe something like a contact issue on the PLCC socket? Have you tried contact cleaner or cleaning the contacts with alcohol? I hear some people had to work around issues like that by adding bits to push down the card mechanically while the case was closed.
@@JanBeta I believe it is bad firmware, so i'm going to be sending my A4000 to get recapped at a local company that does amiga parts and recapping and he said he would reflash the Furia and see if that clears it up, since if i pull the Furia out, it runs with no issues (the A600, and the A600 has been recapped)
