  • Опубліковано 3 вер 2023
  • If a Norcold refrigerator control board senses a NO COOLING situation, it will lock out the fridge and the board will need to be reset. This is how it is done on this particular board. There are several different boards and the reset procedure is different.

Your video helped me greatly, same model norcold, though mine didn’t have a 16 position on main circuit board, had 10 on a lower connection and 6 upper left, but my position 15 was on top board 5 in from left, i grounded that for 5 seconds and heard the propane trying to light, turn fridge off and back on, on light is not flashing error code anymore and fridge is working fine. I had tested the thermistor prior to this, thermistor tested good, glad i found this video! Thanks again

It's a Friday. Just replaced orifice last Wednesday. Beautiful blue flame and not sputtering. Pulled it down to 0 degrees. Turned control to auto, gas took over because 3 flashes started after a while. Restarted once, which is all your allowed to do, and 5 flashes happen and it's locked out!!! We leave in 3 days for a trip!! What to do??? Called up 2 different rv places. 2 weeks out to even look at it. BOTTOM LINE. You saved our trip. I'm a retired electrician so I had no problem with your procedure. I don't know what it would have cost if an rv place fixed it!! I don't know where you live but would sure like to send you something for this. THANK YOU.

N611 . . . It was running great for a year but then quit.
Could be the NM summer heat is too much and the cycle is disrupted by a fault.
I found page 21 in my Service Manual and will try the reset, and just not run the unit in Summer. 102 deg out there right now, but its a 'dry heat.'

It’s funny that the factory doesn’t want the owner of the equipment to know how to reset the fault. I personally don’t see it being a safety issue for the owner. If they keep trying to reset it, might not be good for heater or cooling unit, but it’s probably already bad, if that’s the problem. I’m sure you had to pay for training to become a factory authorized service person. Thanks for sharing the secret. I have always worked for Mechanical Contractors, never factory shops. It has always been an issue to get OEM manuals. The internet has made it easier, but some brands are pretty tight about information.

Might be a stupid question but do I have to have a battery hooked up to the trailer in order for the fridge to operate properly?? Is there a circuit that it detects when the battery is hooked up and that completes the circuit?? I’m new to this and I don’t know much about it…. But I have the exact same fridge and it’s doing the exact same thing and I don’t have a battery.

    • @hillbillyrv

It would be so nice if you would have a close up on how you were using the short wire to ground and connect it to the white pin or wire.
I could hear. But couldn't see what you were doing.
I'm just a rookie older woman that likes to learn but I'm a visual learner.
I like that you just go to fixing without a lot of chatter & think I could have followed you of I could have seen the board but the entire board was to dark.
The control inside was lit up but when
I went in and checked the fuses and put it back together the inside & the control buttons would not light up no matter what I did .
I've had the black cover where the fuses are off before & am very careful but have no idea what's wrong now!
I just need my fridge to work!

I had the Serpentine belt break on the interstate on a very long bridge in the middle of the night. Waited for Good Sams wrecker to show up but they never did. A friend showed up in his pickup and pulled me 30 miles home. After all that is when the refrigerator started the 5 light blinking. My manual says to use a 22 awg jumper wire but I haven’t been able to find that kind of wire. I don’t have any experience with this kind of stuff but figured I’d try to DIY it. You made it look easy lol! If you could tell me where to find the wire it would be much appreciated.

I am experiencing identical problem (n code) however I do not have that style pin in that location on the board. It has much fewer wires.....is there more than one style board perhaps ? My white/ violet wire is in a different connector up to left of board.....thoughts ?

Yes, there are at least 2 different styles of boards. You can't use this video for anything except the exact same board that is in this video. @@user-ry6wz2bz8c

I've got the 811 and no blinking light, it's solid green and no cooling. It's throwing me for a loop

@@hillbillyrv ok is there another video ? Everything seems fine except it suddenly quit. Power cord source good, components are hot and I can hear it running. Could it be freon? I don't use propane bc of a leak so it's on electric. Any thoughts on norcold N81X model

@@susanvillarini7763 If you had a leak, it's done. It is not freon it is an ammonia based coolant and even the smallest leak is catastrophic to the fridge.

I hate those covers, stupid design.
From what im seeing and hearing lp refers are going away , soon you won't have to
do this procedure but they'll be another one for the 12volt junk there building now.
    Nice work.

Those covers are completely stupid. I am not impressed by the 12 volt refrigerators.
