Recorded back in 2007, Ron Bennington sat down with the great Patrice O'Neal to tape the second episode of Unmasked ever. This is also the episode that set the tone for the entire series and every episode that followed. Those who knew Patrice O'Neal before he passed away, knew he was one of the greatest, fastest funniest comedians on the planet. Since his passing, his reputation has grown and now you'll find Patrice's name listed among the greats everywhere lists are made. One of the greatest hour interviews you'll hear, here or anywhere else, Patrice talks about "righteousness" and what it means to him to be true to his art, above all other considerations. He also talks about why he considers himself a 'back of the bus' comedian. This is a must hear hour for fans of comedy and anyone in the industry. The episode was taped on July 12, 2007 at Comix Comedy Club in New York City.

And he's superbly respected for who is. He's been a great influence and it's led me to live a "righteous" life.

Well... I'm sure you try man, you try and that is good enough for you and me and most people.... but his concept of "righteous" is a pretty high mark, even he couldn't live up to it all the time, but he constantly tried. Love that man.
Tell me though if you are of a mind, I would love to have this discussion with people who knew of him more than me and have probably seem more of him than me, or people who actually knew him in the flesh... what exactly did he mean by righteousness, being "righteous"??
I started watching him to get his female perspective, al his take on relationships etc, and from that I took that he said be righteous as be more sure of yourself, don't doubt yourself so much, if you want pussy tell her you want pussy, though you might calibrate it to the woman, also don't sell yourself so fast because you're more able and valuable than you think, if a thing or observation applies to a woman, it also applies to your sisters and mother, that shocked me quite a bit, but I learned it and accept it. He also meant by righteous that you gotta do what you want to do in life and not be something society or someone tells you to be, don't be a soldier if you're a comedian, etc etc...
Please tell me what YOU understand when he says be righteous?? I truly want to have this conversation with you and whomever reads this far into this long ass message!! --->>LOL

@@ggrthemostgodless8713 great message man. I'd definitely like to discuss more in depth.
I consider everything you've said to be part of being righteous. He says it in the interview.
To be completely honest with yourself and live your best life. In summary, to me, it means living a life where I can never be called a hipocrite. Cultivate strong solid values, live by them, be honest and direct. Be you. Know thyself.

Patrices take on race issues, are superb.. very brilliant, in fact. So brilliant that we all(every race) come together, and agree with Patrice. He was on to something powerful, but we lost him too soon- he was on the verge of being a A+ celebrity with a relevant message that could’ve possibly changed the world in a way.
Who knows, but I hope we can all carry the torch, and remember his words- don’t distort, or twist them to fit a narrative, or your skewed worldview, or political view.
Let’s just come together, and embrace The Patrice O’Neal philosophy.
