Jesse Rizo good video ... by any chance could you point me in the right direction to buy a rear bumper cap for a 2017 tacoma? Thanks
Honestly I would probably check eBay.com it offerup app or even craigslist one of those should have to one my friend hope that helps
I found a great deal on a TRD Off Road 2WD. I really wanted a 4X4, but this video gives me a lot of confidence in the 4X2. I may just buy it tomorrow!
Hope you didn't settle.
@@Conekiller29 naw.. I went all in.. got the 2020 4x4 offroad. Freaking love it!
Get the 4wd don't be dumb
Read the actual reply before u call someone dumb
I have 2010 fj with rear lockers
i feel like the 2wd went more smoother than the 4x4. its honestly all about the driver and tires for sure. i agree.
It's about the type of trail too. With the rear diff locked it was able to get power to the wheels that were touching the ground, where as the 4x4 had both wheels in the air that were getting power. Put a rear locker on that 4x4 and it would have performed better than the 2WD. Going offroading without lockers kinda sucks. You have to use momentum to throw your truck through stuff that it could otherwise just crawl right over.
OFF ROADING IS REALLY DEPENDS ON DRIVER AND TIRES
@T R I GUESS YOU CANT DRIVE AND RELY ON CRAWL CONTROL 😂
@T R yeah no, he knows more than you....
Nice video! I picked up a 16 TRD OR RWD last month, myself. I was wondering early on if I had made a mistake in not waiting longer and spending the extra for the 4x4. After a trip through Outlaw Trail up by Sedona, I became a believer in the locking rear diff. Sure, it's not as capable as 4x4, but it impressed the hell out of me. I'm stoked to take it on some more trips. This looks like a fun trail.
Congrats on the purchase!!! And I agree with you 100 percent
And this is why you see fat ruts, spinning tires. Really enjoy your videos. Momentum will carry you through a lot of Cleghorn. This trail changes week to week. Nice job demoing the 2wd capabilities!!
Thanks for watching :)
12:04 its impressive how the 2wd climbed that hill decently. Lockers make a huge difference even for 2wd. This is a great demostration for 2wd haters
Thanks for watching :)!!!
I can swear from personal experience to the fact that a locked 2WD and a seasoned driver will leave an unwitting 4WD buried on a tough trail 99% of the time. Extra bonus- it feels pretty damn good after you get through and you have to help them out too. :)
I used to have a 2wd. Sure it made it up hills but it did take momentum like you said. However I was going through too many tires. 4wd with rear lockers really just lets you slowly crawl up hills and you have all the oh shit buttons when you mess up. Great demo though
“Oh shit buttons” that killed me 😂
Just got a TRD off-road 2WD Taco and watching this inspires me dude! Can't wait to try it out! I'm a total noob so I figure I should start on some easier trails first.
Thanks for watching man
Welcome back Jesse!! Great video as always, I hope everything is ok with you and as a 2wd taco with lockers owner I appreciate this video a lot
Thanks :)!!! I appreciate you watching and supporting
I grew up with 2wds, we took those everywhere! Now the resale is important and it is much more valuable down the road with a 4wd!
That is true I can’t deny that
Nothing wrong with a 2wd, especially with a locker! A experienced person can take it places most 4wds wouldn’t!
Amen my friend, it's one of those things you have to have 'been there and done that' to know but is true none the less.
This past weekend I took my truck off road and only used the rear diff lock and I can honestly say I didn’t get stuck anywhere no 4hi or 4lo and I have a 2012 F-150 crew cab
Crazy right lol people underestimate them like yes a the end of the day a 4x4 is a 4x4 it can go way way further but still nice to know
Thanks for taking the time to do this videos. Been looking for a good video with a current gen 2wd with a locker. This gave me all the info I was looking for. Well done!
Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for the good info. I just got my 2019 TRD OFF ROAD 2WD and was looking for info on this subject.
You answers all my questions.
Keep it upm
Well done video, and I agree- lockers make ALL the difference. In fact, having had both limited slip 4WD's and a locked 2WD I will take the locked 2 WD every time. Nothing will make you feel dumber than getting your high buck unlocked 4WD hopelessly stuck!
Our vehicles are nothing alike of course but I have been pounding the deserts and washes of southern Utah (with an occasional dose of Wyoming gumbo mud) for going on 24 years now with a stone age tech Detroit locked '65 Dodge 3/4 ton and have yet to need winching out or rescue. Which brings up your friends point: EXPERIENCE!
The absolute best way to deal with getting stuck is knowing how to not to get stuck in the first place, learn your rigs capabilities before you push it too far! I strongly recommend every offroader spring for that locker and learn to drive well in locked 2WD before they ever even try the 4WD.
Thank you :)!!
This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. No offense but you obviously know nothing about 4x4s
@@alexgarcia3900 seems to know more than you buck....
@@greenhometony are you insane??? Choosing a 2x4 over a 4x4?????? You can always install lockers but installing a 4x4 system is just dumb . On top of that you can just e brake it and "lock" the spinning tire. Bro I've been off roading since I was a kid with open diffs and know all the tricks. Sure enough I own a 16 tacoma trd off road now and that has a locker but the dumbest advice is to choose a 2x4 over a 4x4 with low gearing. I also own a 19 tacoma trd sport with no lockers and I can guarantee I can get to the same places without lockers. Although my trd sport applies the brakes to the spinning wheel sending power to wheel with traction front and back so no need for a stupid 2wd with a locker and no low gearing. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The TRD Off Road 4x4 tacoma isn’t expensive at all. However I did buy the 19’ TRD Off Road 2wd because I’m not off roading this thing like most do and mainly needed a “cool” dad car. My FR-S wasn’t cutting it no more (still kept it). 4Runner was in my picture of vehicles but they don’t come with all the technology these Tacoma’s come with. I’ve never been off roading, ever, I do plan too off road some time but not to the extreme like others do. I mostly just liked the style of them and how they look hooked up rolling around LA. That’s what I plan to do with mine. This video tho did make me more comfortable about the truck after all the trash talk everyone makes about 2wd everywhere. I love my truck, it’s my first ever and so far don’t regret purchasing it. We’ll see what I go with down the line but for now going to mod this taco. Thanks for the vid, I subscribed! 🙏🏼
That’s awesome congrats on the purchase and believe me I get a lot of that trash talking I just ignore it u know to each there own u know , thanks for watching I appreciate the support :)
What? $39-$46,000 isn't expensive?
Lol not expensive. Get out of here
I have the same Model as you brotha! Thank you for showing how to actually use the locker and how much it can help. Makes me more confident to actually try to go Offroading!
You welcome 👍 just still be careful my friend and if possible read the owners manuel on the locker I believe u can’t go above 5mph when it’s engaged I
@@JesseRizo i saw the lockers weren't engage at your first push, do you know why? i have the 2WD 2021 off road and it use to happen, we took the truck to the dealer ship and they told us all looks fine, nut still it's engaging i'll say, whenever the Taco wants :( really hope you answer . Pd great videos!
Hey, thanks! I have Ranger 2019 2WD with a locker so good to hear that I can do little off-road.
I thought the only ranger that came with a locker was the fx4 and all of those are 4wd. Does yours have a limited slip?
@@JonBecker81 ..yes you can get a locking rear differential in the Ranger with the FX2 package.
Having more options is better but many people don't know how to use the options they have. Thanks for providing insights.
At the end of day, everything matters. Tires, suspension, driveline, terrain, driver skill all contribute to sucess or failure.
This video is what made me realize that a TRD Off Road in RWD is still plenty capable of what I want to do. Just signed a deal for a 2020 TRD-OR DCSB in quicksand today. Got tire and wheel protection and 75k mile bumper to bumper added for essentially 6 dollars a month from the finance guy after shaking hands on one amount with the sales manager. Ended up taking one home with the MSRP of 38100 for 32000.
Awesome video. Good all terrain tires make a huge difference with a rear locker, plus airing down when you only have 2wd. Loved the video
I have a 4×2 TRD Sport. Looking at your video make me apreciate even more my Tacoma. Continua haciendo videos. Son excelentes!
Gracias amigo:)
How is it working for you? I'm looking at getting a sport RWD.
@@Dienamus its working great. Low mpg for a truck(with the back cover) I dont go traling a lot. I live in Puerto Rico so no snow to be concern. However the height, good tires and the traction control off on certain conditions can go a long way in to a fun day on most moderate trails. My advice. If you dont want to go to extreme areas or if you dont have snow then 2wd can be a good option.
@@oldlefty alright nice thanks. Yeah im socal so don't wanna worry about snow till I want to go, an i don't wanna get crazy with driving it mainly trials an stuff like he did in the video.
Great video, I have same model as yours never tried using the lockers yet but after seeing this video I feel more confident what lockers can do if need to use it thanks for the posting very well done video👍
Dude that is pretty insane wtf thats nuts I'm surprised that one guy made it through I though his axle was gonna snap in half just based on how his truck was stuck going up the hill there.
😂👍👍 u n me both
Hi there Jesse, I have a 3:73 diff and TruTrac in my 2005 GMC Sierra 2wd. Very happy with the performance off road and very seamless on the highway.
If you did some suspension work as well it would help significantly. Just disconnect the sway bars when offroading . U WILL be amazed at how much that helps. And it’s cheap to do that.
340 put a smile on my face
Glad to see you back Jesse! I have the same model as you and I enjoy watching the truck in action. Totally agree it takes skill and good tires for off-roading.
Badass rig & you know how to drive it 🤙
Thank you!!
I’d rather have both. Try them in snow or mud. However, Nailed the pomade on the dudes hair on a dusty trail!
My brother!!!!!!!!! He’s back
☺️☺️
My is 2019 offroad , and it comes with lockers fullyloade
There's Hope for 2wd peoples! That hill was no joke. It was good to see this new upload finally after checking every week for a new one. Cool upcoming events too with syndicate. Smashed the like#22 💥😸👍🏻
Theres a budget (metal, off roadish) bumper for those available....to avoid all that plastic popping off. Happens alot on those Tacos
Great, got my first toyota and it's a 2wd 3rd gen 4runner. I want it more for road tripping and camping and not that into unnecessary off roading. So guess I'll get it locked for basic stuff if needed as I wait on a 4wd in the mean time and finally go all out
Good to have you back man! Hope everything is good with you man!! Love the vids 👌
Thanks my friend I’m happy to be back
I bought a toyota offroad 4x2 last year. I'm looking for a group here in inland empire so i can try how is it also.
Stay tuned to when I make posts on hosting trail runs and also follow my Instagram @_jesserizo as I post on there as well
YAY! Jesse is back!
Thanks my friend :)!
I would've liked to see that first run demo of the 2wd from outside the rig tho, wasn't that kinda the point?
Honestly I didn’t wanna run back down to get the camera shit was steep ass hell 😂 if anything I go to cleghorn all the time I’ll try n do another video there and I’ll get it from the outside?
@@JesseRizo Slacker. Haha ok fair enough. Great video tho, I was late back from lunch break finishing it. LOL
Good to see a video from you again bud
I got rid of my 09 tacoma prerunner trd off road for the 4x4 2018
After i got stuck
What if your truck didn’t come with lockers is there any manual lockers out there?
I'm really surprised at the 2 wheel off road making some of them sandy/dirt roads. Go get em.
I’ve gone threw sand I seriously wouldn’t recommend it in 2 wheel drive but it’s possible
I think it wouldn't make sense to have both front and rear diff locks because for the price u could just get a proper 4x4 but it would be unstoppable in a straight line
Nice Jessie! I’ve got a Arb airlocker waiting to be put in. Can’t wait to get it put in. Gonna make a world of difference! Thanks for the demo! Reallly helpful!
Welcome back Jesse! Awesome vid! 2wd rocks (and crawls!!)👍
Thank you :)!!! Happy to be back
Jesse, i just have a doubt about the trac off button, if you push and hold for 15 secs, there is a different leds in table. What is the difference between autoLSD and trac off (holding button 15 secs) ??? Something change in wheels traccion?
Wow what a world of difference with lockers on... i need to get me a 4x4 Toy.
Im still have my Tacoma 06 2wheel drive.
Glad to see you back Bro👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
If you haven't already, maybe compare a locked 2WD to an unlocked 4WD. I don't think my unlocked 4WD '92 Hilux would make some of the obstacles you demonstrate.
Thanks for the video idea :)
Nailed it brother. Lots of great examples. Glad to see ya again!
You should just buy a trd pro manual. Would do alot for your channel. I still lovee your 4x2 or Tacoma!👍
I have a 2004 4Runner 2wd do you think I can use locker like you? Am trying to get in the outdoor more. And what type of lockers do you use?
U can probably add a rear arb locker not sure what it would run though, on these trd offroad 4x2 Tacoma’s and 4x4 Tacoma it comes from the factory with a rear locker
Hi Jesse!!! I’m so happy to see you!!!! Yay!!!! Lolol!!! Yay!!! You did it with the lockers on!!! Ooh no her bumper came off!!! The little boy on the side he was soo cute!!! Describing what he saw lololol!!!! I could definitely tell Chris was hugging the wall or really close to it!!! I hope you are okay Jesse after falling!!! I agree with Chris you definitely need some to spot what your doing!!! I hope you get A 1000 likes yesss!!! Yesss you did the next one with lockers on!!!! The lockers helped a lot!!! I loved your video Jesse!!! You did really good yay!!!! Xoxo Pam 💝♥️♥️💝
Looks like a fun trip man. Thanks for sharing it with us🤙
Thanks for the experience, can’t wait to use my four wheel drive Toyota Tacoma. Did your buddy use a lift kit on his Tacoma, if he did how high did he raise it? What tire size?
Hey my friend yea we both have same exact lift it’s 2.5 inch
And 33inch tires
It has over 1.3k likes. Bring him back and scrape that bad boy Tacoma and record some off road gold!!
Hey jess isnt de off road a 4x4 stock?
I mean by beign an off road its supposed to automically be 4x4, isnt? Or what package did you got?
Fernando Macias it’s the Trd off-road package on a 2wd and it gives it a locker
I always tell people if they end up getting 2 wheel drive atleast get the offroad because it comes with a factory locker as @BBs 13 stated
How do you disengage the lockers?
Truck has to leveled completely put in neutral and hit the locker button put in drive pull forward a little should disengage if it doesn’t repeat the process until disengaged
@@JesseRizo thanks
Nice thank you for that demo! I'm set on a rav4, so my options are AWD and 2wd. I'm not doing anything crazy, but I like to go camping in remote destinations and sometimes I hit patches of dirt road that are definitely not maintained. So I'm just looking for enough capability to not get stuck. Sounds like if I get a 2wd with lockers, I'll be more than set
No problem thanks for watching!!
If u do plan on getting a rav4 though that I would recommend awd because I believe on those u cannot add a locker
Look like you have a cool group of friends
Will lockers work in the snow ina 2wd ? I have 2016 Tacoma off road 2wd with lockers and was wondering if it would work driving in the snow.
I want to install a locker on my '03 F150 2wd. I'm not finding much info.
Good to see your back brother! Been a while.
Glad you’re back! Missed your vids!
I’m happy to be back my friend thanks
It's 2wd you don't have "lockers". You have a locker! Also auto lsd brakes the spinning wheel forcing the wheel on the ground to turn. No Tacoma comes with lockers meaning front and rear. The front needs to be added aftermarket.
Dude, shut up.
4wd lockers ! 2wd locker ! Lol
RIGHT!
Yeah, that was driving me crazy!
Locker, not lockers, you only have one in the rear if it's 2WD. But nonetheless having a locker in a 2WD truck is amazing, my 03 S10 has one and I've also taken it up a couple side by side trails similar to this 😂
Yea I messed up LOL
And heck yea hahah
thanks for the video. i have a 2wd f150 with lockers and hope it preforms like this
What does eLocker do? My 2nd gen tacoma V6 doesnt come with eLocker. Can I still do off roading?
I once saw a guy in 2wd get stuck in the Glamis sand dunes and I told myself I neved wanted to be that guy. Another reason I have 4x4 in my Tacoma is because re-sell vlalue is always great on the 4wd.
Yea it ain’t a 4x4 so people gotta know there limits
Just wanted to demonstrate for those that can’t afford 4x4 they can still have some fun with it
@@JesseRizo Makes sense. You can still have fun and do a lot in a 2wd. No question.
Get some M/T tires and you can do all of it with Auto LSD
May truck is 4x4 can a use in 2 wheel drive may look different in 2 wheel drive
Love watching your videos 👍
Thank you ☺️
Little tip
Use wider angle camera. Alot of the shots were too close
Great video Jesse, good to see you’re back ! 🤙🏽
Aaaaaay!! Your back!! Happy to your making videos again bro! Next time u go off roading hit me up :) i got my truck back!
Good demonstration 😎👍
Thank you!!
Great video Jesse. Good to see you back!
Can you put lockers on 2.7 2wd sr
hey buddy i have a an SR5 2WD can i install a locker and is it useful too for sr5? thanks
Can you get the lockers with a SR?
Yea but id recommend taking it to a professional
Where was this exactly I would like to take my dirt bike ?
It’s in the inland empire area,ca
It’s off the 15 fwy exit cleghorn
I've never driven a new Toyota truck , only the old ones that were much smaller . With those one's the 2 wheel drive was to low for this kind of stuff . I have a 2003 Ranger Edge 2 wheel drive that could do this though .
And it looks like you did get those thousand likes .
Wait, is this a 4wheel drive just running in 2 wheel drive and turning on lockers, in which case, I didn't know you could turn on lockers without being in 4lo
Nice to see another video bro! Where you been at!?
How are the Toyo A/T tires treating you? Would you buy them again or a different tire?
Thanks bro!!! And just had some personal problems going on,
And so far there good I have 31k miles on them now lol and I would but I want to try falken wild peaks next if not toyo m/t
I have the 4wd TRD Off-Road fully loaded. However, mine has the double cab and long bed. I'm a bit worried about navigating the tight turns with such a long truck.
You will be fine because it's fully loaded
Debating between 2wd or 4x4 at the moment
Add about 500lb in 2nd drive unlocked and it will go lots of places!
I agree lol
Dope video good info i havent been to gleghorn yet but i will after this usually im up in jurupa hills its a lil bit more 2wd friendly..have you gone to the sand dunes yet? Prolly go to the stone meet in escondido trucks and beer equals a happy camper lol😎✌
Thanks my friend and I wanna try it there lol I have a friend who always tell me about Jurupa hills and I’ve only gone to razor road but with buddies that are 4x4 ua-cam.com/video/eDygwSaMSrY/v-deo.html only because it’s all sand dunes and heck yea I’ll see u there then I should be in the front so say what’s up 👍 syndicate-offroad.com/collections/events-page that’s the info for the event :)
Thanks for the vid man I got stuck on the beach yesterday lmao and this helped me 🤙🏽
U got it man thanks for watching
I dont beat up my truck like you guys😀
😅
Do you know how much should I put air pressure on each tired on Tacoma TRD pro 2019?
Welcome back Jesse! Awesome video!
ey Jesse, I have a 4x2/2Wd Nissan Navara Np300 2017 w/o LSD, I'd like to ask you if is it possible to put a differential locking system on it?
I love the videos chavos hello from Guatemala i have two tacomas the my is full 4x4 and my wife 2wd whit locker factory is a beast
Looks fun. Very informative
Trying to decide 2020 TRD off road 4x2 or 4x4 better because of price?
If you plan on going offroad I’d recommend 4x4
Really I was just thinking for resale one day but I’m going in the morning to test drive both. But after your viedo I’m leaning TRD off road 4x4 hmm but I live in fl no hills so hmm
Yea that’s why I’m saying like if you seriously think you won’t offroad at all I would atleast atleast go for the 4x2 offroad (it will come with a factory locker) vs the sport it won’t but if u think ur gna be traveling I would recommend 4x4
Amazing job Jesse hope your having a wonderful day
What size lift you have on that ?
