    One might ask how did curry end up in Vietnam. Isn't it a spice from India? Why yes, curry is a spice from India. As history is written, when the French settled in Vietnam, they also brought with them Asian Indians who saw an opportunity to trade and find employment. The French were introduced to curry spices through the British whom ask Asian Indian cooks to add more flavor to their bland proteins. That's how Asian Indian spices were introduced to French cuisine. This is just the short version!
    Cà Ri Gà is a hearty but healthy dish to consume. Curry and turmeric powders have healing properties. It is said to boosts one's immune system, relieve arthritis pain, prevent Alzheimer, good for heart health, fight cancer and help with digestion.
    This dish will take ten minutes to prepare fresh ingredients and a total time of 30-minutes to complete cooking. The process goes really fast and before you know it, it is ready to be served with some fresh hot baguettes! (Baguette recipe here: www.deanathai....)

    I got to try this dish out tonight! The instructions on your video was awesome. Step by step and what to do vs. what not to do were extremely helpful. It was also helpful that you explain slowly so a slow person like me can grasp it easily. 😁. I like the fact that you have the recipe on your website so I was able to know what I need to get before I start.
    The result was awesome! My family thought that it was EXCELLENT ...and they are very picky eaters if I have to add. Thank you, Chef Deanna! I may have to try some of your other recipes next time. Too bad I can’t post picture of the dish on UA-cam or I would do that so your followers can see...

    Hi Deana! Can I sub coconut cream with milk? My bf dislike coconut cream.

    • @DeanaThai
      @DeanaThai  3 роки тому +1

      You would need to use half and half or heavy cream. Milk will make it watery.

    • @DeanaThai
      @DeanaThai  3 роки тому +1

      Also, note that the curry won't taste the same without the coconut cream.

    I tried making this tonight. I thought it was too sweet.

    • @DeanaThai
      @DeanaThai  3 роки тому

      I'm sorry you thought so. Maybe reduce sugar to a quarter cup instead of the half. The fish sauce can be super salty so the sugar helps balance it out. But then the coconut milk/ cream can also add a natural sweetness to the overall flavor too.

    • @davidhuynh5600
      @davidhuynh5600 3 роки тому

      be careful on every recipe you cook because all spices are dependent on your taste buds. she did a great job and I appreciate that she did it in english as well. I can't wait to cook it for my husband to taste but I will taste before I add to much sugar for my liking as well. I usually only add 1 or maybe 2 tablespoons of sugar if any because otherwise I could die.

    coconut cream ? not coconut “milk”. -because isn’t cream sweet

    • @DeanaThai
      @DeanaThai  4 роки тому

      Either is fine. Coconut cream isn't sweet at all. I prefer cream but you you can use milk. Cream from can will thicken broth!
