You can use the mag of the nail gun as a strait edge to line up the facia instead of pulling out the speed square every time. Learned that the other day thought I’d share
One of my guys put his 2 weeks in, today was his last day. Exact same scene played out today. It’s always light weight emotional. Awesome labor, terrible carpenter, but a great presence on the job site. He will be missed.
Hey bro, just wanted to know how you get into frame carpentry. Im 22 years old and i have 2 years experience as an HVAC Installer, 1 year experience as Plumber, but my DREAM JOB is Frame carpentry. I want to get in but most companies that ive seen want people with experience in carpentry. Any tips on how i can get into a company ?
Awesome! From working in HVAC and Plumbing you should have a good idea of developments in your area. You’ve probably seen a lot of framing crews too. I would drive around and stop by each crew you see and go up and ask if they need a laborer. You’d start out moving lumber and cleaning but have the ability to quickly move up the ranks. I’m going to have a video coming out soon about what to expect as a new guy on a framing crew. Hope all works out👍
Have you ever framed its backing labor high turnover rate in small companies there is not much room for advancement your either laborer foreman or owner
I’ve had my construction company for 4 years now and want to get into new home building. Currently taking Michigan builders class to become certified, I would love to come join the team for more new home building experience and knowledge if possible.
In my opinion yes. This is only an 8/12 pitch. Which I am comfortable enough to walk it without slipping. However we do still nail toe boards on the first row. It’s very rare to see a crew in my area use harnesses. You either walk it or chicken board your way up every row. Now granted I have days where I don’t trust my feet as much. I’ll take precautions if I need to. Just depends. Thanks man appreciate it👍
