Thank you Allan, appreciate that.. you’re a diamond.. how did the school rooms work out? I recall you having more work there.. Hope you’re having plenty of success my friend.. regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Hi Pete, I’m back at the school again now. They were very pleased with the classrooms, that’s why I’m back again. More spraying, plus making cabinets and general maintenance work. So thanks to you, I am very happy.😀 I keep getting asked about kitchen door spraying, can I get a good finish with an airless? I see it on UA-cam but not sure which paint to use etc. Hope you’re well. Thanks Allan.
That’s great news Allan 👏 ..I like the sound of you also making cabinetry.. I’m by no means a carpenter, but I did learn a lot from my dad, he’s in his 80s now.. I still look up to, and admire what he achieved.. Allan, here’s my email.. painthq.mail@gmail.com When you get chance drop me a message, so I’ve got your address and I’ll reply with some information.. you can very much spray a cabinet / manufacturer like finish with airless.. it‘a a topic I’ll cover in a future video.. in the meantime I’ll point you in the right direction my friend 👍
Combining the thorough content presentation with the honky-tonk piano and cinematography made this short a joy to watch and learn. Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise and creativity.
Thank you I’ve had so much trouble with a clean shot and I thought it was the clean shot issue but it was my ability to correctly adjust the clean shot thank you for a great video about the clean shot😊
Hey Paul, I’m so pleased this video was helpful to you with your Graco Cleanshot 🙏 ..I really appreciate your kind words and support.. keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙
... nice and simple disclosure on Greco CleanShot Valve, keep them coming, and all others! Kinder on & off busy (... using the ancients methods)! Although not busy spraying (... gathering & practicing your's and others' insights), got to keep a steady income coming in London can be expensive
Hey Beija, appreciate the support.. so glad you’re busy 👏👍 ..If you need any help or advice, I’m happy to answer any questions if I can.. Yeah London is an expensive place in the world 🙈😆 ..Stay safe ..regards Pete
is it only use when you use extension? always wonder if uou cant put stright to the gun. before the housin will that work just sayin .. some guns spit. due to not cleaning em .
Hello my friend.. you’re absolutely right.. spits will occur when using an extension because the small amount of paint in the extension / after the gun (needle), is not at the same pressure.. so will result in un-atomised paint (a spit).. sure, you could add the cleanshot direct to the gun 7/8” fitting and if the gun was spitting for whatever reason, the cleanshot would help eliminate that 👍 really appreciate your input, keep in touch.. regards Pete
Hi Pete, Another very useful video, thank you. I wish I’d seen it before thinking my tip had a permanent blockage! Something made me twiddle with the flush valve and, suddenly, it worked! I’d be interested on your thoughts on Lumi v AR2. I’d settled on AR2 for ceilings but would be interested in what you think of the differences in finish and when you’d use one over the other. With thanks and best wishes, Rob
Hi Rob, ah thank you.. I’d been asked by a few people to put out a CleanShot video, I know they can be frustrating 🙈 ..Good question about Lumi Vs AR2.. I would hesitate to recommend AR2, it would be hard to beat.. Lumi retails at approx double AR2, you can see the quality, it’s a very smooth silky consistency.. just couldn’t justify the price tag.. being a flat matt finish, like AR2 but more durable.. where it would come in for me is an all white project, walls and ceiling, I would spray all in Lumi.. whereas previously I would use something like Optiva 5 (white) on the walls, mask off and spray the ceiling in AR2 👍 ..Keep up the great work my friend, keep in touch.. regards Pete
Hi Pete, when you take delivery if a new clean shot I notice there is a clear nylon washer in the thread that connects to the gun, does this come out? Cheers
Hi Richard, hope you’re keeping well.. there is a clear / white washer the size of a 5p that does stay in place ..is that what you mean?.. happy to help / clarify anything if I can 👍 regards Pete
Hi Javier, thanks for your question.. no my friend, you’ll get a beautiful sprayed finish to walls and ceilings.. I only bankroll if client requests, ie for easier touch ups.. otherwise, 9 times out of 10, I only spray 👍 ..keep in touch.. regards Pete 🙏
hi mate just brought a clean shot few days about as i got a high landing and stairs to do soon ... do you take apart your clean shot after every use as over time i see people struggling dailing it in🤯
Hey Gareth, ah cool 👌 ..I don’t take it apart, I just flush it through thoroughly In the ‘flush’ position.. you can use a silicone-free lubricant (not WD-40), something petroleum based, such as petroleum jelly (Vaseline), and work it into the thread 👍 ..gun lube and Graco TSL would be suitable also 👍😆 ..regards Pete
If you’re getting a spit when triggering on (Vs triggering off), it could be the gun packings / or cartridge swapping out of its the Contractor PC .. Or the gasket / seal needs checking in the tip guard (should be the smaller orifice gasket if using LP / FFLP tips ..if it’s the bigger orifice gasket that’s used with PAA tips, that could cause a spit like you describe.. hope this makes sense my friend 😆 ..regards Pete 🙏
@@PaintHQ thanks, Pete! The droplet occur when triggering on. My gun is brand new and the seal etc is what came with the tip. I put another set and it started to spit on On and Off lol. I now have a phobia that all these airless guns do that. I ended up using my graco hvlp to finish the job today. I didn’t want those drops on a new builtin unit :(
Hey Deaniho.. just wrapped up in a plastic bag.. I don’t think you need to, as long as it’s flushed out and clean.. just something I’ve done 😆 great to have your input on the channel 💯 regards Pete
Ah yes, I know that’s a common problem.. some spray with WD-40.. whether me sealing in a bag stops it drying out is beneficial, I’m not entirely sure.. I know it’s common to be difficult to turn and seize, resulting in grips needed to turn it
Hi Pete, hope you are well. Ive been spraying a full house and must admit its going well. My only issue is I'm getting spits, not using a clean shot or extension. the one seal is clean and tip is pretty new and clean, any ideas Pal?
Hey buddy.. is it spraying woodwork or emulsion your experiencing a spit?.. remind me which gun you’re using?.. if the gun is not old / sprayed a lot of material, it’s usually the tip guard seat / seal that could need replacing.. or if the gun has sprayed a lot of material, the gun needle / seat (packings) could need investigating.. If spraying trim / woodwork paints with a Graco RAC X tip guard.. it is possible the 2 sizes can get mixed up .. Graco Airless Spray Gun Spitting? You Could Have The Wrong RAC X Seal ua-cam.com/video/7jCl91jFpBw/v-deo.html Sorry I can’t be more specific, I’m happy to help if I can.. regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Hi Pete, its the standard contractor gun that comes with the graco 290. Im spraying emulsion but was also getting some spits with the satin wood. I've replaced the tip seal and its the one with the little hole. I'm spraying Johnos durable matt let down by 20% at around 1800 psi. Cheers
Hi Craig, I’m tall so standard height ceilings I tend to spray without an extension - I do always have one with me in my kit, in case I’m reaching over fixtures and fittings.. it’s also a handy swivel to angle the spray tip into awkward areas 👍 Regards Pete 💙💯
I’ve found the best way not to get air locks in the clean shot is to set up with the clean shot fitted to the gun open up fully then run paint thought the gun and clean shot until you get pure paint no water then make the gun safe add the tip guard with the tip installed run a bit of paint through the tip both ways spray and clear then dial it right down un till it won’t spray then start to dial it back open till it starts as soon as it starts you have the sweet spot you need to be above 800/900 psi for it to work anyway so be aware of the pressure if it stops spraying check for blockage by turning the tip if clear just open it up a bit more as your right on the cusp you may need to make fine adjustments also be advise clean shot does not completely stop spits it just reduces them massively to a manageable level all the above applies with an extension

One thing I don't understand at what point your dialling in your pressure for the required spray pattern? Do you do that when it's fully open? Get it working like the gun normally would with it attached open, then close it up and slowly turn back to eliminate the spits? Many thanks guys
