Using the contrasting color of string was a smart idea. Made it much easier to follow what was going on. Nice Job.

I appreciate your making a video on this topic: Black string is very difficult to see, especially with the shadow-zooming in would really help.

Great stuff, nice and simple and less complicated than other videos I've seen. Is the half hitch the same thing as an overhand knot? Thanks in advance

Hello, very helpful video, however, in your videos where you string the racquets you don't seem to ever use the starting knot when starting the crosses. I see you using the starter clamp and then tying it off at the very end when the racquet is completely strung. Could you show what kinda maneuver/knot that is? thanks in advance.

    • @tennisbyspize1622

CLAymatorANIMAtor alrighty. using a starting clamp like that allows me to do a normal knot rather than a starting knot. the upside of that is it keeps the grommet in better condition overtime. starting knots are pulled directly against the grommet to tighten which can warp the grommet overtime

You could do that but I see no practical purpose to it. The difference to the overall dynamic tension of the racquet is extremely small

Half hitch, double half hitch...: non recursive knots are just nonsense, simply should not be even taught...
Plus starting knots makes premature damage to the grommets as you progressively pull on it.
In the end you only need to know Parnell knot and (wilson) Pro knot, this last one is good for thick strings or when you have little space.
Instead of doing a starting knot it's better to start with a starting clamp, after 3 passes clamp on start, do a parnell knot and on clamp release the knot with sit instantly on grommet edge without sinking/crushing on it.

Do you have data to show that double half hitch knots are poor? I have used that knot without any problems. I have also used the Parnell and Wilson Pro as well. All perform well. I like the double half hitch because I can cinch the knot much tighter getting all of the slack out better than the others.
