We would still go for a nugget over this, mainly as we need the five seats and it is also a much neater design of bed.
No idea why you would think this is a Nugget beater? It looks cheap, half baked attempt, not even windows all round. A faff of a bed, not enough travel seats for my five, I guess you are pandering to the dealer/converter. The Nugget review was thanks to being lent one by an owner and it was rushed and didn’t do the vehicle any justice. Perhaps you’ll address that one day by I doubt it. Your credibility appears to be on the slide.
Interesting van, on first glance it looks great but those bed cushions need a re-think - far too loose. That shower tray might as well not be there for all the use it is. The storage looks well thought out and I like the reverse pop top. Overall the Nugget wins out of the two. It is nice to see designers trying different lay-outs but they still need tweaking.
Great video thanks guys. Nice to see an alternative layout in a ford transit. But i’m afraid it’s still very much the Nugget that wins for us. Prefer the nugget as it has two swivel captains chairs, bench seat with room for car seats for kids, windows along back, along with storage for the indoor and outdoor tables. Not sure where you’d keep outdoor stuff in this van! The nugget also has all those positives you mention like the rail for awning on both sides (would need to consider where diesel heater exhaust is too) large tinted window at back , just generally think the Nugget is a better use of space. I think its important to point out that you can get to the back of the Nugget with roof down- yes its a bit of a crouch but certainly not on knees! We constantly access the back with roof down to access the fridge or use the toilet and it works for us.if anyone wants to see how it works in reality - we show it in a couple of our videos. That looks pretty awful a layout to me! wasting the cab area, poor space in the dinette, a ridiculous bed construction (especially for the double) ....... Is that loo area wide enough to use (... completing all yer business!?!) and with no adjacent window/vent wouldn't boiling a kettle cause a load of condensation with the roof down? ....... Finally where do you store chairs/awning etc ........ Have you seen the Marquis Randger 535 conversion? that is awful too! I think the Cali style layout is the one that really does work in smallish pop tops.............. Always enjoy your reviews and thanks for them.
You couldn't compare this to the Nugget. The bed, toilet and shower looks far to fussy and time consuming to set up. It's also a very dated beige and cream. Reminds me too much of my parents decor. Don't like it, sorry.
The Triton from Wildax is very similar in equipment (both owned by Rapido). The shower curtain is a bit of a faff but is usable and was a godsend when campsite shared facilities were closed. Two of us used it everyday at Latitude festival as main shower block was 20 minutes walk away.
Not bad, but there's little point in reinventing the nugget. Leave it to Westfalia they've created a much more elegant solution to the excellent Transit Custom base. Good review, thanks.
You need a degree in origami to master that bed! 🤣 The nugget wins for me, less fussy more modern design and nice options like the fly screen on the sliding door. Although the toilet is better executed in the Dreamer, I don’t like the continually ‘on show’ approach in the nugget and think they could have made better use of the space. What a dog's breakfast of a van.
There's nothing worse than a bed made up.with so many cushions. I had a van bed like that in the 90's. Drove me absolutely crazy. The cushions must be snug up against each other and unable to move otherwise they will move all over during the night. Been there done that, not doing it again ta.
Interesting design but that double bed would be a nightmare. Imagine trying to fit it together on a stormy night when you couldn’t open the sliding doors! I much prefer the Nugget.
Honestly, I hate this.
And I don't mean that because I have built VW camper vans or that I've lived in a camper van, I hate it because it's so poorly laid out, the back seats aren't at all practical, the whole thing is reminiscent of the caddy camper. Poor quality, no thought put in, even the bed assembly just proving that it's a terrible design.
Imagine laying on that lower bed with all those cushion gaps, arse, arms, legs, head all getting stuck between cushions.
What an absolute disappointment of a vehicle.

But it's nowhere near the quality of the Nugget, the bed making process is terrible

Think the Nugget edges out this van. The kitchen placement at the back makes the Nugget a win for me, now if only a shower /toilet curtain to pull across for privacy. This shower would work only with a pull out shower curtain. The pop top version is the only model that could work for me (no high top). My storage space is only 7’ high…then there’s always the big question…not available in the USA!?
Definitely wouldn't put up with a bed that you have to leave the van to assemble. Thought it was a bit rubbish to be honest
would be interesting to get your take on sustainable development in the Campervan world. What about (PH) EV's or maybe even fuel cells, "off the grid solutions" through e.g. solar solutions etc. I'm considering to buy a complete new van within the next 1-2 years, but I'm having doubts about the fact that the current offer being rather conventional in these aspects. What's available, or coming up, what's your thoughts or maybe even some product developers talking ? Just my 50cts, thanks for making awesome productions, really a big fan.
I like the seating bed, a good width for 1, & I5"5' so a good length. Don't like the hob+ sink combo, would get water around gas cooker points, I'd have to rig up something to cover it when washing up, perhaps cutting Gluing a thin silicone sheet, or baking sheet. Fridge too small, you've got 2/3 inches wasted space on top of it- would prefer next fridge size up, 2 good shelves + small ice box.. And small cupboard, mug, spices, tea at top of false window.
I like the nugget, but how they can say it's better??? I prefer the nugget tbh. I'd hate to sleep on that lower bed, looked awful. But great review guys. 🤙🏻

I love the sliding door on both sides.
Waaaaay too much work to convert the seat into a bed… and there are gaps between the cushion which would make that a very very uncomfortable “bed”.
Ace video guys, not sure I could deal with the bed set up.... id have to sleep upstairs instead, a great "guest bed" for just in case though! Loo could also do with a sliding door or curtain 🤣🤣!

Still missing the mark, a few important things needed are a private shower, toilet and bath room sink , include these with a comfortable sleeping area is all you need. cooking is best done outside with a portable grill.
Not bad of a layout. Do think the nugget is better on the seating area.

Yes you do get the L2 Nugget Plus in the UK. I’ve bought one and it’s so much better than this!
Thanks for mentioning the Burstner Copa: definitely better thought out than this Dreamer! A much better alternative to the Nugget, in my opinion.
Ford transit custom Devon Firefly hightop automatic is my choice.
If Grasshopper's Master made him construct the lower bed then tackle the shower/curtain rather than walk the rice paper he'd still be in the monastery! Nowt like a early70's TV reference.
Definitely would have the capland over the nugget. More versatile with that reverse pop top and that shower and toilet combination is a winner . Great video 👍

Thanks for sharing as always interesting other van designs. For me it looked like hard work setting up bed and cut off the front of van ie one goes to bed you all go to bed whereas some designs where the bed at the back allows this option. Personally never sure on toilet as reality you aren’t going to use for nos 2 with someone in the van so wasted space and may as well tuck the toilet out the way. Shower like that in the van again not sure with water everywhere but appreciate you can go outside . I am sure for some it would work I still prefer my Auto-camper hi top but it maybe more basic to. The second door on our Ford as you say is really useful . Both our seats turn around so gives more space imho

All in all, I like the Camper, but what I don‘t like is the toilet in a vehicle that small, in my opinion it is quite unhygienic to use a toilet so close to the kitchen and dining facilities. Therefore I would prefer not having a toilet but even more storage room in the Camper. And I must agree with other comments, as much as I like playing Tetris, when I am tired, I would like to sleep and not to play😉
Prefer nugget as the bed on this is a jigsaw puzzle.
Death by beige!! Very fussy with all those separated cushions. Like the twin slider and awning options but that's about it. Love your reviews though 👌

Interesting video (Thanks for sharing guys). Is the line between camper and and motor home being blurred. A camper I would expect a bed a hob and some storage, where allot of the features we are seeing on these, toilet, shower seem to be more motor home crammed into a small van. (However a water outlet just inside the back door seems a good idea)
If the baseline is a California for it's more car-like size that can do the winding single track road to the car park at the foot of the mountain trail then a Transit footprint has to offer a hell of a lot to compensate for the misery (or impossibility) of that journey. Am still thinking through the practicalities and politeness of a portable potty in a Cali though ...
Really enjoying your vlogs - loving the Harvey interludes. Fantasising about campervanning while shielding for medical reasons and thinking about what I'll do when the shielding stops. I'll hire one or more for sure...
Thanks for the review. That bed does look like way too much work. I think beds need to be simple to make from the inside of the van without the need to be outside. On a cold night with the rain coming down I wouldn’t want to have to stand outside to make up a bed. I realise you probably stood outside for filming but it didn’t look like it would be easy to do from the inside.

Standard Westfalia Nugget Transit camper design is better w/L shape rear kitchen and fixed cassette.
I'm trying to get the Ford Transit Hybrid with the 1 liter gas engine. As I will wire that 7.3kw generator to run everything in the van...Then use the gas engine to charge it. As that battery is huge enough to run an RV for a week,,,No solar panels needed. It's all built in to the Van....
Nice campervan but having to make up that downstairs double bed would be a nightmare, other than that its a nice van
Shower tray not really needed. Possible for small storage space there. I think great for two people and hot water to the sink is great.
I absolutely loved my M sport transit crew cab but its poor reliability was the reason I sold it . The bed set up in the dreamer looks a bit of a real faff, I've just ordered a 2020 high line t6.1 dsg 150 Lwb from van haven, I've speced it up to be a fantastic day van with twin captain swivel seats and a full besoke leather interior, but I'm having a rear slide pod kitchen fitted and a wind out awning. As its only for the wife and myself we have not bothered with a pop top, as we was more concerned about getting a much bigger sleeping area that the slide pod creates. Love the videos keep up the great work 👍
Oh my goodness Harvey is such a sweetie, so contented (on the vid anyway! Hope he’s the same most of the time and treating you kindly) and chatty, bless him. I like how much Dreamer have squeezed into that van, really excellent storage, the bench behind the passenger is interesting but I think would work much better with steering wheel on the other side I.e. most of these vans they sell. Is somewhat beige though, hope there are leather colour options. Assume the Truma hot water is just the small therme unit, although I thought these are electric only so I don’t understand why it’s vented or if it’s the Truma com I why on earth they’ve also added webasto heating... excellent thorough tour :)
Like the van in general, I hate the bedding. Nugget is better overall, I think.

No, sorry. Nugget all day long. That downstairs bed! what a faff! I love the separate kitchen in the nugget. And best of all, the nugget is made by Westfalia. One of the best campervan builders in the business
You’d be better off with a simple VW California Coast. Also check out Jerba campers and see how simple it is to fold out a bed.

seems a waste to have that bench behind the passenger seat. Just have the passenger rotate and you’d have more legroom too. Benches are very close to each other and perhaps not great for 4 for long periods stuck indoors
That bed looked like a bleeding jigsaw puzzle. Certainly no good if its raining and both side doors are shut.
Interesting layout, definite hints of the Kepler One, but the beige on beige (furniture OR seat cushions, not both) really “dates” this conversion, and the bed time Tetris would make this a very occasional 3/4 berth for me personally - the Nugget is far better, lower bed wise. Did you have a price (from, or as shown)?

Why do you need the extra bench seat.
All you are doing is losing space.
The extra Captain seat is a better option.
I cant understand why they assume its always going to be 4 people.
This van has most of what I need. I have arthritis and can't manage high steps. How do you get into the roof bed and how high is the cab entrance step? I have a Kepler One and have to use an additional step to get into all the van doors. The Ad Blue tank is in the way of fitting a step into the cab.
Hat weight do the overhead beds take , nobody ever shares the max weight load 😊

Not as keen on this one although I like the sink set up that’s interesting. I live in australia and haven’t seen that before. Vans are really starting to utilise the minimal space these days.

Does it have sola panels on the roof? had a 7 m motor home traveled to Tareffa and stayed for 4 months each trip and parked up on free camps so no hook up

Looks a little cramped/cluttered inside. With all the solid wood storage fitted, how much of the 3500kg payload is left available for use by the owners?

Bed, stupid, shower tray, stupid, dated style, just seems cramped access to everything given the size.
I noticed quite a few videos a while back on camper conversions that the laws changed, they said that pop tops were a no no, high tops only, and there had to be at least two windows on one side of the van, not including the driver/passenger window. If this is the case how do these companies register the vans as camper vans? Or do these rules only apply to self builders? TIA I’m looking to convert a van this winter.

I’m sure you know this already but Dreamer is another subsidiary of Rapido, just like Westfalia, hence a lot of the fittings being the same as the Nugget. Awful lower bed though.
Please keep an eye on the child as priority. He was practically out the door onto the pavement.
