New 2024 Ford Transit Custom Nugget - Next Generation Camper Van

- Ford is revealing the all-new, next-generation version of its popular Transit Custom Nugget camper, combining the latest vehicle and interior features to offer more enjoyable adventures on the road. For the first time, Nugget customers will be able to select an advanced electrified powertrain, with a flexible new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model.
The all-new Nugget camper has been developed in partnership with leading camper converter Westfalia, and features the popular multi-zone unique interior layout that continues to set Nugget apart from its competitors.
The next-generation Nugget benefits from Ford’s all-new vehicle platform launching this year for the market-leading Transit and Tourneo Custom family, 1 which introduces new advanced design features, connectivity and driving technologies. In the living space, customers will benefit from new premium finishes, enhanced functionality and power from a useful solar roof option to make getaways easier and more enjoyable.
“Nugget is about helping owners discover new places - and with the extra comfort, connectivity and PHEV option of the new model, they can go further than ever. Customers tell us they use their Nuggets as family cars, to get friends and bikes to the next trail, or as a more exciting kind of retirement plan, so we designed our latest Nugget to do it all,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe.
The next generation Transit Custom Nugget will be launched in phases, starting with the Nugget Titanium series with tilt roof and 170 PS EcoBlue engine with eight-speed automatic transmission, available to order from Ford dealers in August 2023 for delivery in spring 2024. Other models, including the PHEV option, will be introduced in the following 12 months.
In a first for the Nugget, Ford is introducing a PHEV powertrain, sharing technology with the Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid 3,4 - Europe’s top-selling PHEV in 2021 and 2022. 5 The all-new Nugget uses a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an 11.8 kWh (usable) battery and electric motor to deliver a combined output of 232 PS and pure-electric driving capability.
An all-new chassis with independent rear suspension improves refinement and handling, while all-wheel drive models will be available to suit customers who use their camper vans to access wild areas for outdoor sports or who simply want more confidence leaving festival car parks.
The stylish cockpit features a full digital cluster and large 13-inch touchscreen; finding a destination, staying entertained and keeping in touch is simple with Ford’s latest SYNC 4 software. 6 The system’s connected navigation, audio and communication features can be controlled via the touchscreen or natural voice control, and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay phone integration are standard. 7
Special attention has been given to making the new Nugget safe and easy to drive, even for drivers more used to smaller cars. As well as a car-like driving position and new eight-speed automatic transmission option, Nugget features a suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

I wish we could get these in the USA. Ford should redesign the passenger seatbelt so it can be used when the seat is rear-facing backwards.
Think child-seat not placed in front facing backwards for the same reason: airbag.

So, I go with the whole family, in nature! We walk, we eat, we drink, we feel good, but at some point, necessities come upon us! The whole family in the bush! The evening comes, we go to bed, we sleep, it's morning! First thing...to the bush, the whole family! We have breakfast, the wife is already fed up, she wants to go home! This was her last outing in nature, with this car! For me too!
Portable toilet will do. Can do a his and hers. Just have it inside a retractable mini tent. No need to go to the bushes.

I really don't like the layout of it. If you want to use the kitchen comfortably, you have to lift the roof and imagine if you have some luggage with you. You would have to relocate all your stuff somewhere. I would like to have a Transit with the "Westfalia layout". This looks nice but is impractical even as a weekender.
Where does the luggage go.. or do you have to unload the luggage every time you use the kitchen?🧐
That's the big problem of all those vans. I got one and It's really not for 1week vacancy but 2days only
@@grondebarbe3997so not true! I have one myself and went on vacations with four for more than two weeks. For two persons I don’t even need an extra tent for luggage storage. And the van isn’t a mess neither. I drive a VW California though

Yes, this price is too high...but you can use this the entire year, whereas a motorhome is useless 99% of the year...and too expensive too stand still 320 days a year.

Seems like this actually could be one of the Californias as Ford Connect will eventually become VW Transporter.
That transit base is available as BEV with a factory built 3,6 KV AC plug inside and electric heating, in my opinion that is a much better base than this diesel fueled stuff. Just saying.
Maybe better PHEV? Have you saw any offering in BEV or PHEV? For custom conversion, which base would you recommended for family of 3?
@@andnrk There are some pössel have their Citroen based E-Vanster and there is at least one companz in the US building something. There is an ID Buzz kit available, too. We are getting there slowly!
@@fnordpol I did reseach and based on my findings I will select on of these as base: Ford Transis Custom PHEV / BEV 2024 (currently not available), MB EQV 300 or Maxus eDeliver 9. What do you think?
I am not sure if the MB EQV is as good for the job as the eDeliver9 which is definitely looking great! I would definitely get the eDeliver has a towing capacity, too. The eqs looks a bit better at charging speeds but only the brand new 2024 variant.
EQV charges way quicjer than eDeliver9. Also air suspension and another level of quality/comfort.@@fnordpol

Perso, j’aimais déjà la version précédente mais celle-ci , moins haute ( 2m ), une banquette très facile à transformer en lit et toujours l’accès facile pour le coin cuisine très bien organisé.
Si j’avais un reproche : il manque une 2 ieme porte coulissante coté conducteur.
Et son prix optionné qui est plutôt élevé par rapport à un flex 5 de chez antilope, certes aménagé différemment mais presque 20 000 € moins cher !!!
En revanche ce Ford a un charme fou et existe en version plus spacieuse …

Im not 100% sure if the info is out yet, but will there be: PHEV - AWD - Nugget Plus (one with the toilet) as that would be my dream vehicle and would sell my current camper one + eletric car to have one of those as my only vehicle. I would have slight concern about the storage of bags and stuff, but as we are only 2 people and never use the back seats could make that into bed and store all our stuff on top of that and sleep up where I believe the bed is wider anyway. One worry is, will the heating work also when the roof is up?

does not flow thru the van nor gives a sense of fun. you are going to get walked all over ...what a waste, particularly as the exterior looks cool. do another one!
