Thank god for the new battery technologies. I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I have cut through the cord doing this job. It gives off quite a pop. My Arborist buddy tells me not to trim my bushes this way. The tips you cut off tend to bush out and keep the Sun from getting to the interior of the plant. Instead, he suggests, take the time each year to cut out a few of the larger branches at the base. Doing it his way, however, takes forever.
I agree, the corded hedge trimmer was a match made in electrocution heaven. That is a good tip from the arborist and it makes sense. If I have some extra time on my hands I'll cut out of a few bigger branches. My dogwoods could probably benefit from this the most.

How's the trimmer holding up? Any problems?
No problems, holding up very well.
