This video pointed me where I needed to go. I have a couple crack laser lites (you know, a back up for indoor flying). I set them up at different times but with nearly the same settings and call outs. I did this manually. I just got a crack Pitts. Everything is going to be almost identical so I looked into creating a template. But instead I "copied" one of the laser models to the new location, changed the name to Pitts and bound it to the Pitts. I think it's going to work great. I still expect to create a template for some other planes that still need binding to the NX-8. Thanks for explaining all of this.

I scroll to templates click it then scroll to the 3rd spot (/..) click it and it take me back to the template screen. Any thoughts. Thanks a bunch.
Hey BD I followed your precise instructions and created a template from my UMX Turbo Timer Evolution which has Safe Select and AS3X. I'm going to use that template and bind my next plane, which is the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5M. So I'm assuming the template will include Safe Select and AS3X for the newly bound plane. I know this is probably an obvious dumb question, but I'm new to the hobby and it's been a bit difficult to get my questions answered from Horizon Hobby tech support since they don't have phone support and don't ever give me a direct answer to my question. They suggested not to create a template but instead use the BNF file that's already on my NX8. If I do that I'm going to have to manually program all my custom settings such as audio events, D/R expo and switch preferences, correct? Thanks very much for your valuable time. I've learned a ton from your fantastic instructional videos.
Yes you can use template for settings to transfer over. However make sure you check surface controls,so not correcting wrong on the new plane. Go into Forward Programming and setup AS3X/Safe modes. Settings are stored in receiver of each plane not the radio. Using the NX8 BNF template will setup by the book rates and default switches. I have seen errors with BNF config files and imo dont recommend using them...

The endstate is that I have a unilight module, and I want to set the three position switch to be all off (-100%), Beacon+Nav on (-50%), and Beacon+Nav+Strobe (+40%). Just want it assigned to the 3 position switch F.
@@ssgfury thats correct! You can go into digital switch setup and change the values. Check out the video i have on the channel called "Customize Digital Switches"
This question is off topic but hopefully you can help. On an AS3X, safe plane. Draco, can you choose between 3 positions or is AS3X always going to be on as the manual says? Can I fly experienced with no help?
BNF Planes such as Draco with a AR637TA receiver you can choose 3 different "flight modes" on a switch. One can be setup with AS3X off. Checkout the video on my channel "How to setup a Eflite BNF & Safe Switch Assign with AR631/AR637TA " which shows you all the steps and explains in detail.

Yes when setting the receiver,radio and receiver needs to be bound and powered on.

It will keep everything the same across the templates.However AS3X and Safe settings are stored in the RX.
I believe it will save your as3x and safe switch settings as to which you’ve set to control it.
But the actual configuration is unique to each rx.
How do you delete a template (.NSPM) from the NX8 data set?
Hook radio to PC. Enable USB Storage Model. (System Settings > USB Settings)Then you can go in and delete

Both ways work... Basically takes the last settings saved and moves over to templates...

Feature was added in 3.08
Not all pics work correctly (colors and pixelated)and they have to be resized to fit.
