The "somewhere a great rune has broken" message you can get in other location as well. I got it when I skipped Rellana in Castle Ensis to search for more Scadutree Fragment. Following the spirit, spring jump past the Fort of Reprimand. Needle Knight Leda (or whatever NPC) can't be summoned anymore when actually fighting Rellana etc. a lot of dialogue stuff auto-resolves.
So all of those things some creators are telling you to do quick to get stronger or get fast may have more serious consequence for the story (just like in the first game).
