Redd Foxx's phrasing is crazy! What a voice! 💜💜💜 There's nothing better than organic artists that have multiple talents. It's like they can do nothing wrong, art is just "in" them.
Redd Foxx and Scatman Crothers did it with such ease! No straining and tiresome emoting. Love them both. These days everybody needs AutoTune? I'm 63 and I give today's music a pass -- big time.
You can't watch this without thinking how much we miss these stars -- Red Foxx and Scatman Crothers. Lovely song. Their warmth was always felt with everything they did even when it was a low-key duet. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love these guys always!
One of the great moments in Sanford & Son history... Great musical chemistry between Redd and Scatman. Love this version of the song and how they play off one another.
Foxx & Scruthers came from a period of entertainment where performers had to do a bit of everything. Scatman could act & be funny , Foxx could sing a bit etc. We should never lose this part of our history, it is at the roots of American music & as we move forward, should be respected as such.
At the very beginning, look at the expression on Lamont's face. In real life Demond Wilson plays jazz drums. The expression on his face was not scripted. No actor can act the feeling a real musician gets from making music. He can feel the music that Scatman is laying down.
Scatman Crothers did the voice of Scat Cat in Disney’s Aristocats. Louis Armstrong was initially supposed to play the role that Scatman ended up doing. Louis recorded an album of Disney songs in 1968 and a preliminary drawing of Louis Armstrong’s character was on the liner notes. Louis got very sick near the end of 1968 and was inactive for most of 1969 and into 1970. He resumed performing in 1970 but on a limited basis. His health continued to fail in 1971 until his death on July 6, 1971.
A match made in heaven- Fred Sanford & Bowlegs- shup, shup shup, shup, shup shup shup, shoo be de day do, to which Mr. Stone replies I love it, I love it! Another top 10 best episode of the whole Sanford & Son series!
Scatman and my dude Red Foxx, or should I say that's Fred S A N F O R D (Period). Man this brings back so many memories. So much time have passed and so many loved ones and friends have passed on. I'm happy and sad when I watch this masterpiece.
Does anyone know if Redd Foxx ever did a music album? I know he did a blues album when he was in his early 20's, but I LOVE his aged singing voice of his later years. It reminds me of a guy who lived in my neighborhood growing up who everyone called "Mr. Chillbill". Guy would sit out on his porch picking and singing all the time and he loved it when us kids would sit and listen. Redd sings just like him.
I know this was made forever ago but i love this song so much im going to be listening to it a lot now its such a great song they should be making more of these duets these days
I remember the scene didn't know the song, then later learned the song and loved it. Then realized that was the song Scatman and Red Foxx were singing. Gotta love those moments
Redd Foxx always joke that he didn't know how to sing, but this is contrary to it. Good singing is all perspective I mean you take Louis Armstrong and he had a conventional voice and it was still a Joy to hear and listen to
Tears in my eyes with a smile as I watch this.....They don't make 'em like this anymore! REAL entertainers!!!!!
Pure joy!
If you love Sanford and Son, Redd G Foxx channel is all about it 👍

Such a marvelous rendition! After listening to such incredible artistry, it pains me to think about what gets passed on as music these days.
Indeed :-(
Redd Foxx and Scatman Crothers did it with such ease! No straining and tiresome emoting. Love them both. These days everybody needs AutoTune? I'm 63 and I give today's music a pass -- big time.

Such a genuine look on Demonds face. He witnessed greatness live on the spot.
When Fred is not trying to be a clown and singing “How can I be sure”…..

Next to Lady Day's, the best version! And hers wasn't televised. The low response is a sad thing - truly this is a work of art.
