Why should the government 'sort this out' there are several hundred thousand adults in Tauranga who I believe still have the ability to speak and write emails or letters.
What has happened in Tauranga Council is spreading around the country, and yes the government should have more control over the Councils around the country. How can we have democracy a center right government and the center left is running the country.Decline is our future.

@@Moanarose88 The Musket Wars were a series of as many as 3,000 battles and raids fought throughout New Zealand (including the Chatham Islands) among Māori between 1806 and 1845, after Māori first obtained muskets and then engaged in an intertribal arms race in order to gain territory or seek revenge for past defeats. The battles resulted in the deaths of between 20,000 and 40,000 people and the enslavement of tens of thousands of Māori and significantly altered the rohe, or tribal territorial boundaries, before the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. THIS is why the treaty was signed - for protection from each other! The grudges still go on today. Historical revision is pointless as none of us were alive then, so victim claiming has no mana, when a good life can be made, if anyone's chin is held high and internal issues are faced head on, including ALL of OUR issues from our early social conditioning.

The way to prevent this dilution of our democracy is to make it settled law that there is no "partnership" between maori and the Crown. If this was done there would be no justification for unelected reps on councils and committees. This is what the Treaty Principles Bill hopes to achieve.
The government was elected to put an end to all of these separatist policies and programs, and in this case the Local Government Minister needs to take control and legislate it all away overnight. No exceptions.

The ratepayers of most other Councils in NZ have shown a lot better sense than the residents of Tauranga - perhaps they are not capable of selecting and filling the Tauranga Council seats with people who represent their opinions. Perhaps time to put in another Commissioner to run their city if they don't have the 'nouse' to do it themselves?

I wrote a complaint to the council as I live in Tauranga. My response literally said “we voted for it 5-4 so it’s done.” Speaks volumes about councils…
Well, that is interesting because the BORA mentions it being illegal to discriminate based on race. If you appoint someone to a position based on race and it isn't open to other races then it seems to be an explicit violation of that act. But then we also get into the issue of Maori seats in Parliament which is the same problem. I think the crux of the matter here is that the BORA does not have constitutional supremacy in law. Which basically means that activist judges can pretend it doesn't exist when faced with competing demands. I personally think NZ is a sad joke when it comes to law... we have so many laws that contradict others... and unlike the USA we don't' have a clear hierarchy to determine what is most important. And of course that is just the tip of the iceberg.

KAWERAU COUNCIL is doing the same thing with youth council and Maori wards so undemocratic law to themselves already have five Maori councillors don't need more expense for ratepayers
Councillors have joined the Maori religion. If they researched history they would know that Te Tiriti was not a partnership. Get rid of the principles in our legislation yesterday.
There seem to be plenty of Maori people being voted onto local and national government positions. Why do they need these special privileges that the rest of us don't have? This is the sort of thing this government is supposed to be fixing!
This shows the dilution of democracy in NZ. Commissionaires run Tauranga for over three years. There is no electoral mandate for this substantial change. There was basically no consultation with the local community regarding this. These new committee appointees are unelected and unaccountable to the people of Tauranga.
Sadly this is how communism came to be These people who are pushing this maori thing wont stop here My town of Levin, i got to hear via Shauns platform of the local council wanting to send a submission to Act condemming their proposed Bill I wrote to the Mayor Bernie Wanden and ccd it to the councillor who shaun spoke to vigorously condemning their move The mayor wrote back ssying the vote was evenly split so it never went ahead But it should have never got to thst point!! Do the mana whenua pay special rates? No representation without taxation, right? Another Act for amendment. Keep stackin' Mr Clerk.

Wow, disappointed you're so bigoted that you can't see the bigger picture. Maybe you should talk to the Mayor about the sound economic, social and consultative reasons behind it instead of jumping on a soap box, and be aware that should council disagree with the decisions a committee reaches, the council still has veto power. It's one vote, and a voice, among many, on the committees (not full council) and should save a lot of time and $ in the long run by helping reduce consultative stresses.

Because democracy includes one person one vote and with Pakeha existing in greater numbers than Indiginous Maori, each voting along race interests, the Maori vote will invariably never prevail. Only the descendents of the colonisers vote will. This is when democracy fails. It seems as though this unfair weighting in favor of the colonisers can be addressed by representatives of tangata whenua Maori being included by appointment. That is the compromise. Maori themselves may want to consider choosing their Council appointees by a democratic vote, but in any event, that would be their decision to consider making. Realizing that whatever they do in public office will be scrutinized, analyzed, commented on and disagreed over and resented, It seems natural to conclude that Maori would be certain to dot the eys and cross the tee's by their legal representatives before they appointed anybody.

They set upa a email in call the other day to try to get the councilors to kill this decision by the mayor. It almost worked. But not quite.

THE TREATY OF WAITANGI
Victoria, The Queen of England, in her concern to protect the chiefs and subtribes of New Zealand and in her desire to preserve their chieftainship and their lands to them and to maintain peace and good order considers it just to appoint an administrator one who will negotiate with the people of New Zealand to the end that their chiefs will agree to the Queen's Government being established over all parts of this land and (adjoining) islands and also because there are many of her subjects already living on this land and others yet to come.
So the Queen desires to establish a government so that no evil will come to Maori and European living in a state of lawlessness.
So the Queen has appointed me, William Hobson, a captain in the Royal Navy to be Governor for all parts of New Zealand (both those) shortly to be received by the Queen and (those) to be received hereafter and presents to the chiefs of the Confederation chiefs of the subtribes of New Zealand and other chiefs these laws set out here.
The First
The chiefs of the Confederation and all the chiefs who have not joined that Confederation give absolutely to the Queen of England for ever the complete government over their land.
The Second
The Queen of England agrees to protect the Chiefs, the subtribes and all the people of New Zealand in the unqualified exercise of their chieftainship over their lands, villages and all their treasures. But on the other hand the Chiefs of the Confederation and all the chiefs will sell land to the Queen at a price agreed to by the person owning it and by the person buying it (the latter being) appointed by the Queen as her purchase agent.

The battles resulted in the deaths of between 20,000 and 40,000 people and the enslavement of tens of thousands of Māori and significantly altered the rohe, or tribal territorial boundaries, before the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840.

This shows the dilution of democracy in NZ. Commissionaires run Tauranga for over three years. There is no electoral mandate for this substantial change. There was basically no consultation with the local community regarding this. These new committee appointees are unelected and unaccountable to the people of Tauranga.
Sadly this is how communism came to be
These people who are pushing this maori thing wont stop here
My town of Levin, i got to hear via Shauns platform of the local council wanting to send a submission to Act condemming their proposed Bill
I wrote to the Mayor Bernie Wanden and ccd it to the councillor who shaun spoke to vigorously condemning their move
The mayor wrote back ssying the vote was evenly split so it never went ahead
But it should have never got to thst point!!
How dare these people decide on our behalf!😊
When you vote for Gold and end up getting Bronze.
😂😊HA! That's gold right there.😊
As a mayor Sandra Hazelhurst management if our city is very questionable at best
What would be good would be researching the link between the company colab and council. I’m not to sure how colab was formed. Or a subsidiary of wsp. Would be nice to see transparency and how much money is going into this organisation.
i have a list of those that voted "For" this proposal so will post this on the Tauranga Ratepayers Page.
Well what can I say what a load of B.S.this what has happened to democracy ,the mayor has to go so the council has to go as well.
Thin end of the wedge has passed. Now facing indentured b.s.
rate payers pay for elected people end of.
Te pati maori wont be protesting this!
Wokisms social justice DEI (diversity equity inclusion) v Democracy.
Co-governance rule in full flight. A very sorry state of affairs, coming to all Councils. 😢😮
Mahi is already another did mayor but the previous committee were iwi lovers as well. This is downgrading the bop. It must stop or tauranga will be as bad as rotorua.
Name and shame the councillors who voted for this!
It’s a ‘No’ from me. The ability to vote, and no doubt receive monies in the process is fraudulent.
Tauranga needs crown commissioner ba k again utterly disgusting behavior from the mayor 😮😮
So, the mana whenua group considered the non-problem carefully, and proposed that the non-problem of unelected representatives be given special access to council seats, to restore bad governance to the citizens and ratepayers of Tauranga?
Do the mana whenua pay special rates? No representation without taxation, right?
Another Act for amendment. Keep stackin' Mr Clerk.
How much is this costing the poor ratepayers?
so much for mahy and his promises.
Soaring rates bills ?
No one would have wanted these unelected maori on the council but it was ramed through with no thought of what the public want
And the idiot Tauranga council are going to build a Museum that we dont need (and i may go to once in my life time) while our roads and infrastructure need upgrading as this city grows
Im part Maori and knowing "Maori" as they are my advise would be to keep us Maori away from any Governance
this a a national wide thing and going to be implimented in every council and region , not drysdales fault as he cant stop or say no to this govt led project . no one can stopn this happening by voting etc its already been decided weather we like it or not. dictatorship nz
Can we please create momentum for a ‘New Green Party’ in New Zealand. We all broadly support sensible ‘green’ or environmental policies and the current Green Party are crazy Marxists who should never be near governing. If we take their monopoly over green policies then this may actually improve the environment and take some % of their party vote.
Cameron Luxton should be mayor, not this wet blanket drip we have instead. Mr Drysdale "I'll do what the people want".. "yeah right"... what a classic politician. Get him out of my city he's not fit to serve us
👍
First steps towards communism
The Third
For this agreed arrangement therefore concerning the Government of the Queen, the queen of England will protect all the ordinary people of New Zealand and will give them the same rights and duties of citizenship as the people of England.
(signed) William Hobson
Consul and Lieutenant-Governor
So we, the Chiefs of the Confederation and the subtribes of New Zealand meeting here at Waitangi having seen the shape of these words which we accept and agree to record our names and marks thus.
Was done at Waitangi on the sixth of February in the year of our Lord 1840.
The Chiefs of the Confederation
Heaps of chiefs didn’t agree with Hobson.
@@Moanarose88they were outnumbered.
What and why are you people so afraid of maori
Why are you people so scared of equal rights, justice, morality and democracy?
Politicians are chumps all a pack of liars like this channel absolutely right sided
Te Tiriti ensures Māori are at the decision table. Partnership ensures that all laws passed meet matauranga and ecological criteria that affect all New Zealanders.
Why are rural wards and cda,s legal if maori wards aren't, grow up ,stop being Seymour's sheep
why shouldn’t their be māori wards te tiriti o waitangi says so ‼️colonial have been grifting off maori for 100yrs at least time to right the wrongs for everyone sake corporates are just for themselves and the likes of tis coalition too
Where does it say that ?.. A Treaty Written by the British in 1840 says you must have Maori wards,, your delusional
Buddy it looks like its gone full circle do your home work and look bck in history the pot calling the kettle black .
How does it feel now.
Full circle, back to where?
Eden?
Maoriori?
Maori from Taiwan?
Evolution, smart pond scum?
Truth exists; for those willing to accept their point of origin.
Yah.
Or smart pond scum.
I wonder how a person feels being given a job based on their ethnicity and not their ability to do the job or earn the position for themself? It's like being given first prize for something you never took part in.
Its like winning a competition without even entering it @secondchance6603
What are you on. Maori dont have to run a race to get a seat at the table you think you own ,fool.
@secondchance6603
@secondchance6603
don’t know where the preferential treatment you speaking of lol? in my life time it seems maori have always came off last best in terms of fairness? when obligation of rights haven’t been met for 100+yrs right?is time for maori to move aotearoa forward colonial govt had 100+yrs chance to do the right thing by the people of aotearoanz
Do all Maori think the same?
How can this BS even be legally done
Drysdale is a traitor to the ratepayers
Excellent interview with a good kiwi bloke who makes excellent points.
Get elected on your merits...not special treatment, I'm sure all the people in this country would agree except the tea party..
