- Absolutely loving this amp, it's the most flexible amp I've ever owned. Capable of all sorts of tones, from super clean to blues to crunchy rock'n'roll to hard rock to metal to uber gain melt your face off territory. Killer amp! I love you Jim Marshall !!!!!
Back in the 90's I had a Marshall JCM 900, and man this JVM just blows my old amp out of the water !

Lots of great amps on the market but for me, it always comes back to that Marshall sound.
Couldn't agree more with you. I also love a nice clean Fender. Twin Reverb is next on my list. But Marshall flows through my soul and my veins!
if you are into Marshalls, try a Metro or Fargen plexi...I got the Fargen MiniPlex MKii and it's incredible. Blows away the JVM....

Yes, it has higher gain. way better amp than TSL or DSL.

What is that guitar? I love the green flame top! It looks like a PRS Custom 22 Piezo but the knobs don't match that model...
It's a Warmoth "V.I.P"; sort of a PRS but it's not a PRS. Super high end Warmoth. www.warmoth.com. Killer guitar, Wilkinson trem with semour duncan srcreamer pickups.

That sounds great, I wish marshall had another amps with less Watts :) Could someone tell me if is possible to play this amp at home?
I had the 1X12 model and it was my favorite amp but you need a PA to get to band volume because it gets a little squirrely (to much breakup/feedback) at high volume. Haven't tried 2x12 model like yours. Just a blast to play with any guitar but esp. a Les Paul. I actually liked it better than any friedman I've owned because it has a more vocal quality for lead playing imho. It also has a much better clean. The friedmans held together better at high volume but both my friedmans were 100 watts so it to be expected. The 50 watt marshall just has the mojo over the 100 watt marshalls, but again you need a PA for live stuff. Just a bit of a trade off I guess. The marshall is also more of an old school on the metal end ie kill em' all by metallica. Not so good for a modern metal sound. Just my impressions, take it or leave it. A lot of people watch these demos for shopping so just offering my insight. This amp is great for clean, crunch, and old school metal sound. My favorite reverb also. It is good for chugging which I don't like friedman's for either. Friedmans need to sing. (I've owned the jj, and the be 100's.) Enjoyed your demo, thanks.

I didn't mic it at all. This is my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone taking audio & video. Had I used real mics the sound would have been 100 times better.

How do you find the noise levels on the OD channel? How high can you take the gain on OD orange and red before it's too much or too much noise? I ask because I'm considering the amp but getting it modded first. Also thinking about the greenback thing like you are.
I find the noise levels quite good to be honest, it really depends more on the guitar and pickups you are using. I used to have a noise gate on my pedal board but found out it was one of the other pedals making noise...not even my amp or guitar. I use a Gibson SG for the most part with this amp and it sounds amazing.

I can tell you why. I have one and was pulling my hair out because the noise in the orange and red over drive channels. Terrible hiss noise even when you turn guitar volume all the down. Here’s is what must be done to eliminate it. Get a good noise suppressor. ISP Decimator works great. But you can’t run through the front of the amp. It won’t help at all,,,!! You must run it in the effects loop with the wet\dry switch on the back of amp turned all the way down. Cured. Won’t make a sound until you want it to. I always run mine last in line after anything else such as delays, chorus etc.
I have had this amp since 2008. Use it at rehearsal and to gig with. In the last few years I have just stopped using the overdrive channels. I simply stay in clean channel, orange or red mode and use good overdrive pedals to drive the amp. The red clean can get a good crunch all by it self. I actually have 3 drive pedals for different amount of overdrive. TS 9, and two others. I typically use the TS9 as more of a boost. Basically use it as a one channel type amp. I play mostly 70s style classic rock, no metal so this works well for me. Hope this helps.
Debating whether to sell my JCM2000 half stack and get one of these. Sounds really good.
Do it. I just A/B'd my amp to a JCM800 and my JVM blew it out of the water. You won't regret it. The Orange and Red stages of 2nd channel get a bit noisy but that's why Joe Satriani put a noisegate in his signature JVM. If I could do it again, I'd get the 4 channel JS model.

Thanks man! I'm just LOVING this amp. I've had it long enough now for the honeymoon to wear off. I find I barely need any pedals with it as it just sounds so good. I'm going to be doing a much better demo soon, showing which pedals I'm using with it, and also with a Strat & Les Paul. I've brought this amp to a few jams and it really performs well. Best amp I've ever had, no question.

yeah, stock speakers. Amp is well broken in. To be honest, I'd like to put Greenbacks in the amp. Not crazy about the vintage/heritage combo

Yes you can. You can save 6 presets. So clean, light crunch, crunch, light high gain, super high gain, explosive, etc.
Long about the 4 minute mark ya went into another gear....id love to have that amp b.t.w
the orange channel is the good stuff on these amps.... green and red is crap IMHO. You can get good cleans from orange as well.

I honestly think so. You know, now that I have not owned the amp for a while, and have had numerous other amps since then, I can honestly say it's one of the best Marshall amps ever made. It can do some serious metal that's for sure...go give it a try.

+max walder Yes. definitely It's 50 watts !!!! That's louder than many amp heads. 50 watts is insanely loud when cranked.
Where did you get your information that different gain stages in the 1st channel are JTM and JCM modelling? I own this amp, and as far as I can tell, it doesn't copy anything, it's a tube amp with lot's of 12AX7 preamp gain stages.
This is an old video and I was mistaken lol....but somewhere I read something along those lines, that the various "modes" were replacing various marshall amps, but that was marketing bullshit

can you gauge on how loud this is? good for lowering volume for bedroom practice and also playing in louder areas?

Do you have any experience with Orange? how do you compare them with the JVM?
Yes, I had an Orange TH30H and HATED it. Really couldn't stand that amp. I'd never buy another Orange. I sold the JVM and bought a Fargen MiniPlex MKii....so far, the best marshall sounding amp I've ever had, I posted a video on my channel check it out. It can do JTM, JMP and JCM800.

sounds kinda tinny. maybe its my speakers who knows - you could've also put the mic closer to the amp i can hear your strings... you are not slash
Bob S. Stevenson ubr right. It does sound kinda tinny. I ended up getting a Friedman and never looked back. 4 times the price but worth it
yeah these were not the greatest amp if you modded them they are ok but alot of people felt the same as you. friedman are good cheers
