Contemporary Marching Band - Grade 3-4
Even though the opening is mysterious sounding and features the woodwinds, this creative chart still provides some powerful ensemble moments, a brief trumpet solo, and a soaring chorus before returning to a quieter ending.

As a new marching band member and also a freshman, this was really fun, and the coro we did this with was so fun. I still have the music for it
we played this for marching and we did great!! I'm a flute and it was soo much fun
Tammy Jett How do you possibly let yourself get played over by the band? Since I'm the tuba in my concert band, I'm always the loudest. How do you do it?
Tammy Jett Not to be offensive, just curious.
My Band is doing this song and "It's my life" for our show this year. Really excited for it!
Bro same tho...wait a minute.
GHS?
@@Multifunctionalfan wait a minute
@@Multifunctionalfan CHARLIE?!?!?
@@Multifunctionalfan what a coincidence
Playing this in marching band this year, its really cool! Our shows called heist.
We are playing it this year, tomorrow we are blocking out the moves for this song and everybody is struggling with the speed of the song. I’m trying to learn it so that I’m prepared 😂
We did this song during marching season last July and we had Wanted, Livin on a prayer, then you give love a bad name last
My school band did the same thing in 2013. It was my favorite show!
my band's doing that this year!
Haha, we are doing those exact songs this year! (As I’m writing this - just came back from a day of band camp)
were doing the same exact thing this year in that order.
No more than 2 songs by an artist. We’re playing “You Give Love a Bad Name” in our Scorned show this year.
We play this and it is GORGEOUS
This is so beautiful
My school did a bonjovi show and this was the middle song and it sounded almost like this without the whole coda weirdness
God this gives me memories of Deadliest Catch. I wanted to be a crab fisher when I was like 12. (2010-ish)
Playing this in our show Journey to the Old West
My band is too! I'm playing the "villain" of the show, so they rewrote the solo for my part (baritone) and I'm having a lot of fun. It sits in the middle of our opener (Oh What a Beautiful Morning, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and The Magnifenct Seven) and our closer, Cheyenne.
ashley is that you
@@rubyvalentinnovoa9400 yeah lol
@@zanderford2733 We also do Magnificent Seven
@@zanderford2733 yeah, same with our baritone part 😂 I play baritone too
Did you watch your drum major-
I synced up and transposed down the guitar solo from Bon Jovi's original track and it sounds AMAZING next to this arrangement! If only a Sax or French horn had the solo!
For those wondering this arrangement is a major third lower (4 half steps) than the original.
Love it.
At 1:40 put a high C on trumpet over that G and then Bb then A and G it sounds amazing
measure 59 🤩
we had a western theme lol
Same
Why not just make the flutes in the key of A-flat major? It would be so much easier than writing them all as flats lol
the original song is (mostly) in D major, so when it was transposed they put the key as Bb major, probably to preserve the original more. there would still be a lot of accidentals if you wrote it as Ab major, so i don't think it would make much of a difference to read.
Good aranngment except that in the original song there is a chord shift before the initial riff. Also the trumpet solo in my opinion would've worked better a a tenor saxophone solo it seems to be a bad habit of giving the trumpet all the solos.
I think they give the trumpets the solo's, because every marching band has trumpets, but not every band has woodwinds...
The only reason they give trumpets the solo is because they are one of the few instruments that can project across a stadium with a good tone
That and trombones. Basically you've got a high option and a low option, anything else wouldn't work because people couldn't hear it.
Because we have a loud and clear tone that goes with marching band dynamics. Giving, say, a flute or clarinet a solo in marching band is stupid because they are way to quiet. But a bone or maybe horn may have been great.
SonoftheBread usually mellos and altos have different rhythms
Oddly serene in my opinion
Book mark for me 1:29
Play this song at 1.5 speed, I think it sounds better
How DO I change speeds?
My legs dont think so😂
That messed with me
