- Oklahoma scores a whopping 55 points against the Florida Gators in the 2020 Cotton Bowl. Oklahoma finished with a Cotton Bowl record 435 rushing yards in the blowout win over the Gators. With this win, Lincoln Riley surprisingly wins his first bowl game as Oklahoma's head coach and the Sooners finish with a 9-2 record. Florida disappointingly finishes the 2020 college football season with a 8-4 record following the loss.

Lol they could’ve had Tebow himself play and deliver a speech sent from God, and they would’ve lost. When you have 8 starters removed on defense, you’re going to give up 50 points because every other play will be a breakdown in the secondary.

Yeah I thought the same thing. Clemson lost to a top 5 team on the road and went down three ranks. But UF lost to a 3-5 or something team (I don’t remember) at home and only went down one rank. It is that sec bias man.

Yea that was brutal. Having all those opt outs and playing one of the hottest teams in the country was not a good combination for Florida.
With THAT defense, Florida would not have won EVEN IF their star receivers played. Combine that with the turnovers, and this was an insanely sloppy performance by the Gators. OU deserves a bunch of credit for disrupting them though.

What kills me: even after three 1st qtr picks, UFA didn't quit. They cut the lead to 17-13. Then OU with 4:09 left in the half makes it 24-13 OU on the innocent looking crossing route. And that seemed to sap them. Then they gave up a TD with 0:22 left and that seemed like the back breaker. My point: even after 3 picks, and spotting OU 17 pts, UFA closed to within 4, then the wheels fell off.
Oh Oklahoma fans don't think you beat Florida like this that you going to beat anybody else in the SEC like this. Florida didn't have the quarterback the top tight end the top wide receiver and other players. Not saying that Florida would have won with them, but it wouldn't been this lopsided score.

You got to understand that Oklahoma has a legacy. Remember Oklahoma dominated football back in the 70s and 80s and 90s. They have a legitimate program. I thought it would be a close game but Oklahoma just blew out Florida. This game makes some teams in SEC look bad. But Oklahoma are better than you think. I believe they could beat teams like LSU, A@M, Auburn, and a few others. Oklahoma are a top 5 team. A lot of speed and depth.

The last time the Gators got trounced this badly in a bowl game was at the hands of Oklahoma's old Big 8 archrival, Nebraska, in the 1995 National Championship game.
Oklahoma really needs to be given the shot at the national title next season, best game of the year. As for Florida, first it was the penalty that ended the Gators hopes of competing for the national title, and then getting blown out in the Cotton Bowl. There's no way Kyle Trask is gonna win the Heisman Trophy now

I don't think they would have won anyway. With that defense and turnovers, it might have been like a 55-38 or so loss instead. The Sooners took full advantage of the Gators' mistakes.

What the other person said, plus I feel like when you have a chance to get into the playoffs (if they beat bama) you’re gonna play as hard as you possibly can. And then when you lose that game and have your possible playoff seat taken from you it kind of takes the fight out of them. I’m not taking the win away from Ou because they played a great game. I also just know that Florida was missing a ton of star players on offense and defense. Hell Kyle trask is a really good QB regardless of what people say, and even he did horrible tonight. I’m also not a Florida fan and can’t stand them but i do recognize they were half the team they usually are. Their loss to LSU was pretty convincing they aren’t the 7th best team in the nation though lol, but I’d still give them top 10.

I think we really have to put the game into perspective, don’t get me wrong I love Oklahoma they have been my team since I was four or five years old. However, Kyle did not have four of his top receivers in this game and that made a huge difference on the offensive side of the ball. If they played in the game it would be a lot closer. You got think too Ou did not push Florida’s offensive line around consistently and that worries me. With that said Florida still should have played better and Boomer Sooner!

Players opt out of bowl games, players aren't motivated, and the media pays attention to the semi-finals. Yeah, Florida played like garbage, but the interest of bowls in the CFP era is waning. After the loss to Alabama, Florida doesn't need to prove anything else they are a top 10 team. Part of the reason I think they should expand the CFP to 6 or 8 teams. Get rid of divisions, and have rivalry week midseason.

The reason people r losing interest is because every year they make a mockery of the rankings by trying to include so many teams from sub conferences and make them out like they belong there. @@teofilstevenson yeah there’s actual proof of that, they failed their drug test last season. The NCAA suspended them so they missed the CFP over it and most games this season. Also since they came back, we haven’t lost a game and we beat Iowa St (they beat us by 7 at the beginning of the season) in the Big 12 championship. So them being gone definitely impacted the team
