How to prep IKEA style furniture ready for painting

- This is not the usual type of furniture that I would ordinarily buy to paint BUT it was £1 from my local charity shop and I am not one to resist a bargain! I also thought it would be a good piece to show how to prep this style of furniture as I have been asked about this plenty of times before. It's also going to be a little challenge to paint this kind of furniture for me and is going to push me outside my comfort zone which is never a bad thing every now and again!

A beautiful Crate & Barrel dresser/armour combination piece.
I think it's referred to as a Gentleman's Chest. Basically a 5 drawer dresser with door that opens up to 3 shelves that are built onto the side sharing only 4 legs. Its almost as wide as a queen sized bed!
It too is white. I looked up what it would cost new ... $2,000.00 US dollars!! Its in perfect shape and i picked it up for FREE!!
Ive thought about doing some sort of applique... well see how much effort ill need to apply after i see your two videos.
