It's crazy to think about. I'm Ethiopian born and raised and ran 5k as a separate race in high school in around 17:30 mins (in Canada). My Ethiopian friend from my high school ran it in about 16:05 mins. We were considered to be amazing distance runners in our city but it's funny to think that there are humans running sub 14 mins in the SECOND half of their 10k. Unbelievable
Let's not get carried away, it was about 12.9 or so. 26s roughly for final 200, and 55 seconds for final lap. Bekele is crazy good, but he is not capable of running 11.0s for 100m. I'm guessing you just made the mistake of using the orange looking line, which is not the 100m line. If you look at the 100m run from this WC meet, you'll see that the start line is very much back from the start of the straightaway on the track. The white dotted lines that Bekele runs over at about 26:36.6 on the 10k timer are what make up the actual 100m start line.
