Installing Propane On Our Off Grid Homestead

  • Watch this week as Ryan walks through the process of installing our 1,000 gallon propane tank on our off grid homestead. We are excited that we also finish the last chore that required us to get on the roof. We were especially happy that we were able to do it before winter set in; we want to make sure no more accidents happen. Also, Von moves a little closer to getting the woodstove hearth completed..., in her words, "the never ending brick work!"

Ryan.....it is so EASY to watch projects like installing a propane line and say.....OH just run a line and spin it on, LOL....Then you actually do it and you run into 87 little parts and bends and secret issues to make it work. SO Great Job on getting it done yourself and finding all the information and parts needed. Best wishes

Ssswwweeeeeetttt! Yes indeed Ryan, you beat the frost and snow. Look how good it all sealed too! Nice Hearth Von. You can clean the brick with equal parts white vinegar/water before sealing or painting! You two are fearless and that is fun to watch. What satisfaction you'll have in your lovely home over the years knowing you did it all! Great priceless memories! Be safe! Soldier on!

If it was easy then everyone would do it..... believe you me, it seemed impossible till I did my own system. I then looked back and said, no more, never again .... yet really, it is that easy and the time spent sweating was needless. Crowley has to me been a life changer... they really come through for alaskans. I dealt with the old man himself and he was so hesitant at first to even deal with me yet once in to his confidence, I could of came for dinner, it was that kind of relationship. I looked the part of a old nam vet who could use a shave, and looked like my last bath was on a army inspection. I had two dogs and we spent all our free time together.. the other working time... well we spent that time together also. I loved those two dogs so much that a tear will roll from my eyes just thinking about them now. I never had a Von. I had what most called "You just lost your turn" woman who has a very special part in my heart yet today and that was over thirty years ago. Hell more than that because it was nineteen eighty four when our divorce took place. I never ever considered another woman an as for my dogs who passed on in two thousand ten, ... they were my entire life as they saved me from being myself, a self destructive negative person. I can tell you, if the dollars spent drinking her away were here in front of me now... I could easily retire without any help from government ssi checks. Ah back to you kids, its really not as hard as it is mentally a killer till the smoke is rolling from the chimney, the shepherds Pie is in the oven, a cold or hot beverage in hand an the lady curled on your arm. Of course the dogs are getting theirs from the cheese corn balls. They do know that dad never could finish his plate. So two beautiful Rottweilers, taking turns on the plate of goodies on their daddies plate was a heaven sent treat. I can see this at your home as well

I've installed gas lines before and it would probably be a good idea to install a pressure gauge at the end of your gas run . All you have to do is put in a tee and then screw in your pressure gauge , and then pressurize your line with air and make sure that it holds and you don't have any leaks ! When I was a boy I almost died from a gas leak in the house , the pilot light went out on our furnace and I was breathing gas fumes all night long , we all woke up with our heads pounding and I threw up all day long from gas poisoning !!
