Sick build man. If the glare on the tv window gets annoying, consider some ND (neutral density) film that we use in film making. It’s how landscape & car photographers cut the reflections to see into the water/vehicles through the reflective surface. Keep up the solid content 💪🏼
That's polorized lens ur talking about not nd filters 😂nd filters are used when it is to bright and u need to lower ur shutter speed. Polarized filters is the one ur describing it is used to block glares and reflection

Great Build! As someone who has built a shed from scratch, I can appreciate the level of effort that goes into it. Regarding the river rocks....I had a rock path next to the house and no matter how often I blew the leaves out, they somehow get tucked down in between some of the rocks. Now mine were very white rocks, so it got dirty looking super fast. The only thing I would suggest is maybe placing a stepping stone path to the fire pit and shed. With little ones, they can easily roll an ankle on river rocks.
Looks great. 2 thoughts…. Gutters, at least across the porch. And bathroom facilities. It’s a hike back to the house. And if you use that refrigerator for beverages that I suspect you will during college football season, you might need to think of someplace to go. Outhouse greatness you can call that series.
Looks great, you did very well. While not a huge roof area you will get plenty of water running off the roof. It really needs guttering or channel & grate to ensure erosion does not occur.
I bought a used 12 x 20 Tough Shed for $800. Disassembled it, destroying the roof in the process, moved it, reassembled it on a 3/4 gravel base and roofed it for a total of about $2k. Total time one week.

Impressive. Watching your video reminded so much of exactly how mine went. I built a 34x20 almost entirely on my own and your video went almost exactly like mine. Trash pile, rain splashing dirt on the outside, stuff piled up instead. I'm about 95 percent done with mine. Way to go
Beautiful shed Travis. You will enjoy many years of fun and football memories with this project. The cost really isn't too bad. I did an extension to my garage, 14X20, for my workshop and it was over $40K. With all the rebar in the foundation I had to do to pass city code, you could park a tank on the foundation and not hurt it. All for a woodshop and our crazy city codes.
“…crazy city codes….” Having had to tear down extensions and sheds built by previous owners without consideration of codes, I favor code-built. I do not have to wonder how long it will last. I acknowledge that some parts of various code are overkill, nonetheless, safety and re-sale value are important to me.
Impressive build. I’m building an 8’x8’ “treehouse” that I budgeted for round $15,000. “You are cray-to the -Z” my wife said. So, had a lot of the lumber milled by my local sawyer and I’ll build my own windows and door….it’s pretty massive but, except for a slab foundation, has lot of similar features (photovoltaic cells, metal roof, live edge cedar siding…). Bottom line, passion can be expensive! Well done, sir!

@@CyArch97 I wish I could send pictures. Our trees are Live Oaks and they are much beloved trees here in central Texas. In order to preserve them I opted to get some big cedar logs and build a platform “amongst” the trees and not “on” the trees. Concrete piers, anchors, big cedar slab skirt joists and live edge cedar siding….a while thing! Good luck and happy building!
Great build. You mentioned running electric to it but I think going solar would be awesome. I also think running some gutters would really help with the drainage off the roof.
Besides all the trees blocking light self contained solar with inverter and battery would add in around $10k but he has youtube money for it so it's nothing.
@@superpj you can get a solar generator like jackery and panels for wayyyy less than 10 k.... I paid 1800 CAD for a 1000 watt generator and 2 x 100 watt solar panels. I'm saving for a 1500 or 2000 watt generator now for my 13.5 foot camper remodel It's built to be off grid but also has electrical cord if I happen to be somewhere with power plugs 🤗
@@mistyl1987 with the stuff in there those 200 watts with no battery won’t last long. Need at least 1.6 kWp but if they have a microwave or heater then 6 kWp minimum for the panels and a 5000 kWh battery to keep them going into the late night.
@@superpj the jackery is a battery. I charge it with a 150 watt solar panel I put on the roof. It runs my fridge mostly and everything I put in the camper is rechargeable, such as motion sensor lights, faucet and shower head. It seems to do the trick for me. I was just camping for 5 days and the jackery stayed over 90% battery lifethe whole time. I have a little propane buddy heater and a tiny wood stove for heat when needed and use a bucket heater for hit water. I'm working on getting a bigger solar generator just to have back up solar power. I got an energizer generator recently as well for back up power if needed. Plan on takin the kids to the mountains this summer for a month.
Love it. Built a 10x10 shed a while back. Didn’t know squat about how t do but figured it out along the way and it came out pretty good. Just purchased my first home that has a 20x30 metal shed that desperately needed to be demolished. Can’t wait to build a new shed/small house to replace it.

Looks awesome! You might want to consider a 30mil non-permeable membrane under the drip line of the porch (beneath your pea gravel) if you notice that area starting to erode and undermine the porch

A really cool (and motivational) item to add to the project cost would be an independent contractor’s quote on what they would charge for labor to build a duplicate tiny house… I mean shed. Your project cost figures are really helpful for appreciating the financial scope of the project. Your sharing of mistakes made throughout the project were great for making the project reasonably approachable by a DIYer who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. But the addition of a project cost line item that illustrates what the sweat equity represents could really highlight why curating your DIY skills is not only rewarding but also financially beneficial. After +15 years in the Automotive industry, I finally got myself some land. Just over a Acre, I have started to build sheds and tiny houses out of some of the Travel Trailers that were left on my property when I got it. The construction has been easy after tearing a trailer down to bare frame and the mess is cleaned up. I appreciate the prep time that goes into paint day. Cars will spend weeks or even months of sanding and all the bondo work before ever being considered ready to start masking off for paint. Paint day only takes 1-3 days including clear coats but any defects that were ignored are quickly noticed once a nice coat of paint is laid down. Nice build!

Wow! I built a couple of sheds in my lifetime and yours is most awesome. I didn't know what I was doing but after 18 years It is still standing proud and my neighbors love it. Mine is basically 11 x 12. I've had to replace the doors twice as they were old salvaged doors. I used T1 11. And I have had some rot issues I have had to repair. But it keeps going and yours will last a lifetime or two. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous little project. With that roof pitch you could easily install a rain barrel system and have an outdoor hose-off area for washing tools, your chairs, etc.
Looks great! As for cost, it seems to me, given your comparable examples, you definitely got the best long term value for dollars spent. The quality materials and features, the owner-built attention to details, versatility, longevity and the intangible value from use and enjoyment make it a big time winner for what you spent.
I remodeled a 13.5 foot skipper camper that was originally built in 1973. I had friends that know how to do lots of carpentry help me with a lot of the actual build so it only cost me materials and any extras I wanted- such as a tiny wood stove, small rv bath tub, and jackey solar generator with a bougee rv fridge/freezer combo. I offered food and drinks in return and got to learn a lot from the peeps that helped me. My goal was to be able to live in it off grid, if I wanted or needed to, but I also still have an extention cord out the back incase I camp somewhere I can use power. My kids and I are going to the mountains this summer for 4 weeks to live in it in nature and spend some time together. I love my little camper and I'm super proud of my layout and build ❤️🔥🤩 took 2 years to plan the build and I even made a small scale popsicle stick model of it before I decided how I was going to go forward with the build 😊😆 just added a small window air conditioner last week in order to take it camping this last weekend with my dogs. I hope everyone can get a solid building project to work on, the satisfaction of watching it come together is just so priceless 🥰🥳❤️🔥

I remodeled a 13.5 foot skipper camper from 1973. I even built a small scale popsicle stick model to be sure of the layout and dimensions of things I wanted before I got started. Took 2 years to plan it all and find contentment in my final design. Best times of my life building that though and going out camping with it now. 🥰
Beautiful shed, thanks for sharing. Only two things I would do differently is running conduit under the slab for the future. And use a smaller gravel and compact it for the area around the fire pit. Make it better to walk on and rake leaves. But again thanks for sharing

I have some of the poly-wood chairs with stainless hardware. Even though I could have made some great chairs, I enjoy the lack of maintenance and a 20 year warranty. True. I did't get that sense of accomplishment from building them myself but one less thing on the to-do list is kind of priceless around here. 😇
Turned out awesome. The cost is pretty good if you think that only a few grand more and you'd have a legit tiny house that could be rented out! $20K to add a rental space; seems reasonable. And yeah, that sense of satisfaction is priceless. Good work!

I built my shed 12x12 7-12 pitch 2 windows skylights 16 on center everything,self-adhesive base sheet and cap sheet, and much more i didnt mentioned as pressure treaded ground contact 2x6 on gravel and also had to spray 600 sqft with weed killer and also Spectracide Triazicide Insect Killer for Lawns & Landscapes. It came out looking great 240sqft 7feet high and 10feet to the Ridge bored where the trusses connected to. It only cast me $1800 3days work. I also used sidding to match it with the house since I just built the house with blue slate sidding color they both match up now.

I can't build a "bird house" but you make this look like anyone can. Your Blueprints are about $50-$100 too cheap but?? 12:05 go to a hardwood dealer and get skip planed 4/4 ceder lumber then use it to make a ceder bench Rough cut lumber is a lot cheaper from a hardwoods dealer then deck lumber from the big box store, skip planed lumber also looks nice enough for an outdoor bench you can always sand it.
Dude. Nice. Makes me want to redo the single-angle roof on the cabin I built with a proper peaked roof to gain the extra vertical space. I'm a chickenshit when it comes to height, but that 2x4 ladder/roof-climbing-thing you built solves all my issues. I'm having a classic "why didn't I think of that" moment here.

So remember that song "Sixteen Tons"?! That's how much gravel I ordered since I was renting the truck and driver for most of the costs. Gravel can be rather cheap that way. You always get the extra. Good to barter with the neighbors who might only need a few buckets or wheel barrow loads. Poor kid next door asked me why I got rid of his sand box. He thought it was to play in. You will always find uses.
The first few years, I sealed my cedar fence every spring, however, I quit after about 4 years and now it is starting to turn in patches, but it will look ok once it all matches again. Since you mentioned winter, I assume it gets cold, so am wondering why you chose not to insulate it and maybe put a wood stove in it to enjoy the Super Bowl...

Great build!!! I also build somthing-- a 30x30 deck one story tall. I can park 4 cars underneath and keep them shaded from the sun. I'm taking a 2-3 month break, but soon will be building my desert cabin on top of this deck.
I see that Menards delivered utilizing a Moffet fork. They really prefer using their own fabricated Masterlift 5000. You really would have enjoyed that, as its a forklift mounted on to the rear frame of a single rear axle semi tractor.
Gutters? That’s a good learning process, especially attaching to a metal roof! That’ll eliminate ALL of the back splash and give a much better flow of water runoff the roof and around the shed. Lastly, I know you’re up in OH, maybe a light till of the dirt areas and throw down some fescue seed? Then mud won’t be any issue.

FYI, paint the trim first with the sprayer. It's quicker to mask it off, especially since you have to mask most of it anyway

After +15 years in the Automotive industry, I finally got myself some land. Just over a Acre, I have started to build sheds and tiny houses out of some of the Travel Trailers that were left on my property when I got it. The construction has been easy after tearing a trailer down to bare frame and the mess is cleaned up.
I appreciate the prep time that goes into paint day. Cars will spend weeks or even months of sanding and all the bondo work before ever being considered ready to start masking off for paint. Paint day only takes 1-3 days including clear coats but any defects that were ignored are quickly noticed once a nice coat of paint is laid down.

Hi Travis, I think your backyard getaway is nothing short of beautiful & brilliant. It will give you, loved ones & friends a break from a busy life. It is worth all the time & money you spent. It seems more reasonable cost to me than I expected. Kudos to you & the fam that made all of this possible. I am curious about one thing, had you considered a foil covered foam insulation for your getaway? See you in the next installment.
Wow! I built a couple of sheds in my lifetime and yours is most awesome. I didn't know what I was doing but after 18 years It is still standing proud and my neighbors love it. Mine is basically 11 x 12. I've had to replace the doors twice as they were old salvaged doors. I used T1 11. And I have had some rot issues I have had to repair. But it keeps going and yours will last a lifetime or two. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous little project. With that roof pitch you could easily install a rain barrel system and have an outdoor hose-off area for washing tools, your chairs, etc.
Looks great! As for cost, it seems to me, given your comparable examples, you definitely got the best long term value for dollars spent. The quality materials and features, the owner-built attention to details, versatility, longevity and the intangible value from use and enjoyment make it a big time winner for what you spent.
I remodeled a 13.5 foot skipper camper that was originally built in 1973. I had friends that know how to do lots of carpentry help me with a lot of the actual build so it only cost me materials and any extras I wanted- such as a tiny wood stove, small rv bath tub, and jackey solar generator with a bougee rv fridge/freezer combo. I offered food and drinks in return and got to learn a lot from the peeps that helped me. My goal was to be able to live in it off grid, if I wanted or needed to, but I also still have an extention cord out the back incase I camp somewhere I can use power. My kids and I are going to the mountains this summer for 4 weeks to live in it in nature and spend some time together. I love my little camper and I'm super proud of my layout and build ❤️🔥🤩 took 2 years to plan the build and I even made a small scale popsicle stick model of it before I decided how I was going to go forward with the build 😊😆 just added a small window air conditioner last week in order to take it camping this last weekend with my dogs. I hope everyone can get a solid building project to work on, the satisfaction of watching it come together is just so priceless 🥰🥳❤️🔥

Turned out awesome! I think a boarder around the smaller rocks with some larger rocks would really tie it all together. And grass around that.

Took 2 years to plan it all and find contentment in my final design. Best times of my life building that though and going out camping with it now. 🥰
Beautiful shed, thanks for sharing. Only two things I would do differently is running conduit under the slab for the future. And use a smaller gravel and compact it for the area around the fire pit. Make it better to walk on and rake leaves. But again thanks for sharing

I have some of the poly-wood chairs with stainless hardware. Even though I could have made some great chairs, I enjoy the lack of maintenance and a 20 year warranty.
True. I did't get that sense of accomplishment from building them myself but one less thing on the to-do list is kind of priceless around here. 😇

I built my shed 12x12 7-12 pitch 2 windows skylights 16 on center everything,self-adhesive base sheet and cap sheet, and much more i didnt mentioned as pressure treaded ground contact 2x6 on gravel and also had to spray 600 sqft with weed killer and also Spectracide Triazicide Insect Killer for Lawns & Landscapes. It came out looking great 240sqft 7feet high and 10feet to the Ridge bored where the trusses connected to. It only cast me $1800 3days work. I also used sidding to match it with the house since I just built the house with blue slate sidding color they both match up now.

12:05 go to a hardwood dealer and get skip planed 4/4 ceder lumber then use it to make a ceder bench
Rough cut lumber is a lot cheaper from a hardwoods dealer then deck lumber from the big box store, skip planed lumber also looks nice enough for an outdoor bench you can always sand it.

Dude. Nice. Makes me want to redo the single-angle roof on the cabin I built with a proper peaked roof to gain the extra vertical space. I'm a chickenshit when it comes to height, but that 2x4 ladder/roof-climbing-thing you built solves all my issues. I'm having a classic "why didn't I think of that" moment here.

That's how much gravel I ordered since I was renting the truck and driver for most of the costs.
Gravel can be rather cheap that way.
You always get the extra. Good to barter with the neighbors who might only need a few buckets or wheel barrow loads.

The first few years, I sealed my cedar fence every spring, however, I quit after about 4 years and now it is starting to turn in patches, but it will look ok once it all matches again.
Since you mentioned winter, I assume it gets cold, so am wondering why you chose not to insulate it and maybe put a wood stove in it to enjoy the Super Bowl...

I also build somthing-- a 30x30 deck one story tall. I can park 4 cars underneath and keep them shaded from the sun. I'm taking a 2-3 month break, but soon will be building my desert cabin on top of this deck.
I see that Menards delivered utilizing a Moffet fork. They really prefer using their own fabricated Masterlift 5000. You really would have enjoyed that, as its a forklift mounted on to the rear frame of a single rear axle semi tractor.

Gutters? That’s a good learning process, especially attaching to a metal roof! That’ll eliminate ALL of the back splash and give a much better flow of water runoff the roof and around the shed. Lastly, I know you’re up in OH, maybe a light till of the dirt areas and throw down some fescue seed? Then mud won’t be any issue.
