😢 plumbing failure. Thankful for a nice inspector.
Keep going and smiling always bu julie 😇💪💪💪
As a plumber for 43 years, I’m impressed with your detailed and quality work. But mostly, I want to you and everybody else a Happy Easter!! Thanks for all the videos.
Great video. I doubled the size of my suburban San Francisco Bay Area house. By the time I was finished I had 12 permits and countless inspections. As an IT guy 40 hours a week, I spent a lot of boring conf calls reading code docs and guides, so it became a challenge to not fail my inspections... but I often did and I almost always appreciated the inspectors care and concern for helping me build a safe, to code home. Like you guys I grew to appreciate the sensibility of the building code - very cool and smart.
She smiles even when it hurts ,
Good afternoon Mr Johnson and crew. Sorry to hear you failed ur plumbing, never give up life goes on
Love seeing all the progress y'all are making!
I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter !!! I want to thank you from the bottom my heart for all the entertaining videos as well as the informative content . Please keep safe during these trying times !!
Wow Martin! Really nice doors! Three fails? Actually you got off really easy. I've seen many jobs that had a grocery list of items to fix. Good job!
you didn't have major faults to fail, so good job. and beautiful garage doors
Failure is never fun, but as you know it becomes a learning experience. Sweet Garage doors. Great video guys.
No such thing as failure...everything is a learning experience!!!
...now the fine tuning begins..lol.. you will get 'er done, stay safe and have a happy Easter...
You failed to give the inspector coffee and donuts😁
just saying your sons lucky to learn so much i remeber working my ... off and getting upset sometimes but now super happy i learned so much from my old man
Don't worry you people are fighters and you can do everything, better luck
I was a job site supervisor in commercial construction till I retired and I was thinking How many times when our professional plumbers failed inspection. Because our builds many times took me out of state we of course bid the plumbing jobs out. And you just never knew what was going to happen.or what the inspector was going to T off on. We counted on the local plumbers we hired thinking they would know what to expect from the inspector.. but many times we failed over the years you just fix it and move on
All findings has closed out. Well-done Pak Martin Luther. Good job But Julie.
👍👍👏👏
You 2 are a special team. Keep up the grand work.🌸👍
When you plumb a home the first time, you learn how to do things correctly after you've done it incorrectly because of inspectors. Although it costs you additional money you usually remember how to do it correct because it cost you. Some inspectors are very difficult to work with and I have found if you keep your cool and ask them questions, most seem to give you a break by letting you send them photos of the corrected problems, rather then shutting you down for the 30 day period most states allow them to. Others can be really difficult to work with. You got a good one, guys.
I've never seen those nail plates before, what a great idea. glad your fails weren't huge fails
You are made of really good stuff Jules. I'm impressed at the jobs you are tackling. Also watching the lifecycle of that coat.
Looks good guys .Just one thing I wish Mrs.Johnson would do....PLEASE PUT YOUR HAIR UP UNDER A HAT BEFORE THAT DRILL GRABS IT AN TWIST IT AROUND AN PULL YOUR HAIR OUT OF YOUR HEAD ROOTS AN ALL . I've seen it happen to a guy with long hair an it pulled a big hand full out .. hair, roots, skin looked bad an he's still bald in that spot.... just saying... love your videos .. GOD BLESS AN STAY SAFE
Out of all the plumbing you had to do...just three things! I'd say that is something to celebrate and they are some what easy to fix. Great job!
I am so sorry. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Super cool that the inspector allowed you to send pictures in lui of reinvention. Not that cool making you cut out the San T on its back for the dry vent of the shower. Removing the union abs trap definetly a good idea. Nice job love your channel
Thanks for reading my comments and thanks for showing the reason we couldn’t see the install. Keep up the good work
Great video. It's the little things right. Hope you are feeling better Marty
Great idea of two jobs going at the same time. With Sethers as well. Kinda nice !!!! Nice to switch it up a little. Great job
Hey folks, ex home inspector here. There are 'cliff note' style flip chart reference guides and books on building codes you can get that might help out a lot. Cheers!
Plumbing and electrical are the two areas you really, really, really want to get right in your home otherwise the consequences can be disastrous. So honestly I would be a little dubious of an inspector's qualifications is he DIDN'T fail me.
You did great! Just 3 minor things. Glad you throat cleared up! Love those doors!
Very nice video. A lot better than the TV shows which are repeated. Nice updates. I learned something new. Thanks for sharing your projects. Hi from Syracuse, New York.
Hang in there guys. With those positive attitudes, nothing can get in your way! 😁
The thing is not that you failed but that you fixed it all :) God Bless!
Great job on the plumbing fix!!!!!☺️☺️☺️👍👍👍👍
Live and learn guys, God Bless You.
Another terrific video. Happy Easter
So much for freedom and independence. I feel for you guys.
It's all part of the dance. Do it right and they'll leave you alone in the future.
From a DIY install, and being unfamiliar with the trade and it's idiosyncrasies, those were minor fails, and easily taken care of. I say you did an excellent job, and the plumbing will last the life of your home.
Talented and beautiful... great job Jules!
You guys are great. Keep up the hard work.
Happy Easter And God Bless You
Different states and cities have different rules, in my area you can use a tee on it's back for venting. But better practice to have a wye. Great job!
Happy Easter to you and your Family
Love the Garage doors....Happy Easter.
Love your choice of music for your videos 👍
When you fail we learn. : ) I'm learning more that way. I'm sure everything will work out fine. You all are doing great.
💯💯💯💯💯
Its not a failure, its a learning experience. :)
Minor stuff and not too time consuming or expensive. Oh by the way good work apprentice. Love your channel especially the FAMILY effort. Keep it up guys warm weather is coming!
Oh man! Annoying to hear of course but remember you guys worked hard and had fun!
Morning Martin u might have failed on the pluming but what u have done so far is amazing what u have built wow 4 someone who has not a lot of building knowledge and I do not mean that in a bad why u have done good all your family help u out sweet stay safe u till next time Tony from england
Your a great couple, you work well together, fun vid good luck with the build
Always looking forward to your videos. Small hiccups for Martin .. no worries cos Julie is there and she got your back.
Hello martin no worry o mos yuo dou everything right and hopefully you feel better for tomorrow Easter Sunday
Failing is ok. Always give inspector something to find. Keeps him from sniffing around. You did ok. Love you guy's attitude. Positive and willing to show your mistakes. You did fine. Great job.
You are a nice couple. Happy Easter.
I love the garage doors!
Nicely Done!!!!
Keep going and smiling always pak martin 😇💪💪💪
You are such a good guy man! No ego no macho, just honesty. You and your family are a great example of how to live our lives.
Thank you sir for everything you do!
Awesome video 🤙🏻
What an enviable life.
You guys are funny! Don’t feel bad about your glue Julie, when I help Stu my glue looks the same. Doesn’t seem like you failed too bad....nice job!!
Safety Sally just fainted when she saw you hand-holding that pipe while you sawed it!
Your work is excellent and you didnt fail. You simply didn't do it the way someone has deemed appropriate.
Just FYI next time you do not need to use primer for CPVC you are supposed to use flowguard one step cement
For a couple of rookies having only some minor fails like that is pretty good. Easy fixes. With regards to your garage doors I hope you went with teflon rollers for the door panels. It will be much quieter. If you have not done so install several layers of rubber padding under the brace bracket that holds the opener to the ceiling. Install sound deadening insulation in the bays around the opener. The sound and vibrations will travel up the floor joists into the unit above. This will help mitigate this. Lastly, get a jar of vaseline and a rag and rub vaseline on all rubber parts on the door. This will help preserve them and extend their life. This works great on fridge seals and car door seals.
Don't forget to mesh cap the exterior white PVC drain lest you get critters moving in to love...
May be too late to tell you but auger bits are a lot easier for drilling through studs than spade bits
Love that Boston !
I would call anything that can be solved in one trip to the hardware store a win... LOL Great job guys ! Keep building the dream !
We all make mistakes. We all dust ourselves off and pick ourselves up and make life better keep smiling
Great job on the plumbing, there's always some small issues to address, like an additional clean out, maximum 30" spacing on those water supply pipes, and I missed the third issue...
instead of using spade bits for drilling through the wood you should try wood auger bits
I watch a lot of home building shows. And i have to say i enjoy yours the best. Why you ask because the wife gets right in there and works. And not scared to make a mistake
Julie could adjust the torque setting on the drill down so if it binds that way it doesn't smash her wrist around. Clutch is your friend.
In my area your Tee would’ve been fine as long as a fixture didn’t drain from above, however that P-Trap with a union would’ve failed I must add for a DIY homeowner you did a great job
i hope you are using pex point to point home runs off a tree - Manifold. Manifolds with shutoff valves are easy to add lines to, like for bibs or hot water bibs, etc. btw insulate the pipe while it is exposed.
Tip about drilling holes with paddle bit try using an impact gun instead of drill it won't twist your wrist when it grabs little trick my electrician but he told me works great
Martin you should of hire a plumber
Consultant to help you along the way.
Awesome you got a graph over the tractor that's that's awesome and cool you got your garage doors
3 minor adjustments and they just sent the inspector pics to show they did them. They didn't need to hire a plumber, they did an excellent job.
I don't know if anyone else notice about 9:15 mark on video. That you have altered/removed part of an Engineered truss/floor joist. I believe it will cause you grief on your inspection. Even though its the cord, you have notched out the plate as well. I would seriously check with and engineer in reinforcing that member. Good luck, like to hear back from you regarding concern.
11:19 - It worried me watching you do this. Many years ago, I broke my left wrist while using a 1/2" chuck drill to put holes in 2X4's for black ABS drain lines. I got careless and did not properly hold the drill motor. In an instant, the drill motor snapped around and my left wrist snapped backwards. It was very painful and took a long time to heal.
If you use JIS Japanese cross head bits, they will get a better grip on Philips head screws and resist cam out.
You can use a ty on its back for a vent air does not need direction
For messy PVC glue on pipes a can of white Kyrlon spray works wonders.
Awe, man! Sorry y'all failed. I really thought y'all had it in the bag this time. At least it was not hard to fix.
a little tip for the lady drilling holes in the wood is to have high speed and then have some drill chuck latch so it doesn't bite back.
Looking good, and pipe dreams lol.👍
It all comes right in the end,
Not bad at all. It’s nice that you could send the pictures in and not have to have the inspector come back out.
Firecaulk, a vent tee was backwards, not large enough nail plates
I'm surprised the water heater pressure temperature relief pipe didn't need to be copper. In CA mine needed to be copper all the way to 6" off the ground.
I’m amazed any inspector would drive down that muddy a road !
At 8:55, the video shows a notched floor truss. Holly Smokes. Near the center of the span no less.
Saw that too. Did they call you guys on this?
Luvn the build. I would luv 2 do this 👍🏻
12:24 you are not the only person to spill the cleaner. I spilled a big can.
I think the primer is designed to tip over and seems to flow exceptionally fast.
Fail is a rotten word, I like to think that you just ommited a few a few things , Good Job!
Please buy some PVC pip cutters. So much easier than a saw.
Just a tip use spiral tip drills and you won't get your hands twisted off.
I don't know what you failed on. It looked good to me. But the absolute Non-fail is Julie's smile. I'm unsure of the dental access in Idaho but Julie has the prettiest teeth on all of UA-cam.
