Really great series. I learn something new every time I watch your videos. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge and opinions on things and being straightforward and no bs about it
for reference, an unshielded birthday candle is about one lumen and one candela in every direction. If you throw a parabolic reflector on it, you still only have one lumen, but now you have multiple candela in a specific direction.
This was absolutely awesome, thank you. Im sure by the third or fourth time I watch it, I'll have understood half of it. Lol. Please continue to make these intelligent and informative videos.
What you said about BDC redicals. Would be cool if someone would come out with a bdc that you could adjust each dot to correspond to your load. I have great 223 loads at 100yards and better, but a bit don't work on targets farther.
Hey UF, FYI, I get what you're saying about the Olight, particularly the Baldr-S pistol lights. They are USB charge only. The Odin rifle lights can be charged with USB - but they have replace-able 21700 batteries inside. The Baldr Pro full-size pistol light uses dual CR123's. Yeah, I'd buy Streamlights or even Cloud Defense if I were I to do it over again. I have a Cloud Defense MCH EDC and they're awesome. So late, we get so smart...
Good stuff, as always. When it comes to WML’s I’m a big fan of what Arisaka is doing on their website where you can choose what tailcap, body, mount, and head you want. Hard pass on Olight weapon lights but their little keychain USB rechargeable light is nice. Gave them as stocking stuffers to everyone last year and it’s a great way to give some capability to someone who isn’t like us and not EDCing a gun, knife, light, med, ect… 100 Concept light covers are must have for all my rifle lights.
Shit, that reminds me, I need to find my Olight magnetic charge cable for my Odin and the DIFFERENT magnetic charge cable one for my Valkyrie PL-Mini. #Don'tBuyOlight
Truing the BDC: Things change if you zero on a 90F day and go to make a shot at -10F (actual temp, not wind chill). With M855 and a 100F change in temp, that should be, in theory, about a 5moa change. So 5 inches at 100y, and 15 inches at 300y. I'm thinking that bit me in the ass last week chasing deer at -12F (actual, not wind chill). My rifle was zeroed at about 60F, so a ~70 degree change with a .223 HP and probably had 8-10 inches of change. Missed 2 shots. Got hits later at about 200y.
This is also a function primarily of the ammo which is where things like match ammo Mk262, m118lr really shine using temp stable powders. Shooting m855 can get scary depending on who loaded it up and the powder they used. Anecdote for you I built a Mk262 clone using Power Pro 2000MR. It was hot like really hot 2810 fps out of a 18 in Douglas barrel. I devolved the load at 52 degrees F I shot a match with it Stell gong challenge ambient temp was 84 degrees,1.5 MOA plates at 300, 600 and 1000 yards 10 shots per with 2 sighters at 6 and 2 at 1000 as my gun heated up I started blowing primers and my Magentospeed was reading 2924 and my dope was off by 6 minutes at 1000 yards . I only develop with temp stable now lol I will talk a lot more about temp and ballistics in the upcoming Minutemen Designated Marksman (MDM) episode of the MML series
Dude, I love your Channel. I just found it a few days ago and have binge watched almost every episode. Great Info and Insights. I really appreciate your through and concise explanations, especially the Ammo Loading. I have a question and would love to hear what your thoughts are on Helmet and Night Vision options for the average Minuteman setup and not for the Tier 1 Guys.
That is coming as a part of the MML series but short answer is a good ballistic helmet like a Highcom high cut ACH and a Used PVS14. it's gonna be expensive but it's doable for most. If you have some coin DTNVGs or PVS 31 dual rubes are there it's at but all the other stuff still has to happen Laser aiming module, passive aiming reddit or eotech, Ir Illumination starting with basics and a used 14 looking towards 7 to 10 grand to get into it with duals that can easily hit 13 to 18k easy
@@unclefreedom213 Thanks for the direction...I still have several PASGT Helmets that were issued to me back in the "Old Days", (Hell, I even have my original Issue Steel Pot) functional but I think I need 1 set of something "Modern" . The PASGT Helms can be used for any Ape Brothers that don't have anything. 🤣I bought a couple of the Marine Corps Chest Rigs and T. Rex Harnesses like you suggested in one of your Vids for backups as well. I have a Mayflower for my 5.56 stuff and a Haley DC3x Heavy for 7.62 but these USMC Rigs are not bad. I'm an "Old School" LBE and Alice Guy (served in the Army - 80's) so the modern Chest Rigs are still a bit New for me.
For optics Ive been hooked on primary arms for a while now. I love the acss reticle. Been using them at some capacity for about 10 years now. Their lpvo’s under $400 leave a little to be desired in the glass department but are still awesome reticle durable and reliable in my experience. But I like the glx line of primary arms optics. They cost a little more but the glass is a lot better. I really love the 2x prism probably my favorite optic at the moment. The 3-18x50 with the hud dmr reticle makes an awesome spr/dmr scope. As far as lights I have surefire scout lights on my two main rifles my others have a mix of olight enforce and stream light. And as far as the bdc in the acss I use them on 12.5” - 18” 5.56 and even on my 6.5 Grendel’s. Usually if you zero at 100yds then I true it at 300yds. I have a chronograph and a ballistics calculator and how many moa/mil each hold over is so it’s pretty easy to figure it out just takes a little time. And I’ve found a lot of time it’s 50-75yds off. So the 400yd bdc I would actually use for 325-350yds just depends on the ammo and barrel length I mostly use 75gn bullets. And the Grendel I’ve found using a 308 acss bdc I can zero 3/4” high at 100yds and the bdc nearly falls out perfect out to 600yds.
I also run thier 3-18 mine has the Hera reticle PA is solid especially at the money. That's really cool to know on the Grendel to .308 connection I had no idea definitely putting that in the toolbox
@@unclefreedom213 they actually make one now that’s advertised as 308/6.5 Grendel. But any of the 308 ones work with an 18” barreled Grendel using 123gn Hornady eld and sst. And most other 120-123gn bullets.
@@unclefreedom213 Primary arms has some great optics, got their 3x SLX w/acss on my 14.5in 5.56. I just mounted an Athlon Ares ETR FFP 3-18x50 mil illuminated on my 6.5 Grendel. Really good glass and adjustable zero stop. Loading some 100gr Norma, 110gr Lehigh target & controlled chaos.
Packed full of info! I am not done with this series! I am going to have to watch this video again. Weren’t you going to do a lock picking video? Here is me hoping you get more glorious days off for my benefit.
If near peer doesn't scare you, you aren't human though good news we can own better rifles and gear but they have overmatch big time with auto and apcs

My new favorite channel!! I didn't have to fast forward through any of it and you kept it interesting with some great knowledge. Good job dude
