Just happy to hear people talking about PID. Real world targets arent high contrast standing out in the open on a bright sunny day. Know your limitations and the limitations of your equipment at various distances, weather and lighting conditions. And be realistic, dont be that guy with an eotech and a 12.5 chambered in 5.56 saying its good out to 600 plus (yes, real conversation I had with someone). Not saying he cant do it, but for me with an acog on a nice high contrast plate, 500 meters is about the max I can make good repeatable hits. Add, a low contrast target that's moving in less than ideal lighting conditions when you are dripping sweat and tired af and that distance is going to start falling off fast.
if you have a brain, you're not out and about in daylight, and you dont fire a supersonic load. Subsonic loads lack the power to stop a man from screaming unless you brain him. That limits such shooting to 100m and less. That's ok at night.
Sir…😂😂😂👍🏼👍🏼 First off, I just love your “rants “! I respect advice from someone who has been there done that and comprehend the wisdom you impart! Second, you have enlightened me in ways that are to vast to put in this comment! In my day, as a SWAT sniper, you shot what they issued and were happy 😂. Thanks so much for teaching/informing an old dog like me!! Fantastic video and please keep ‘em coming!! Stay safe sir!!!
This series is awesome, and well deserved that the channel is growing so quickly. On the optics - I run a 1.7-10x as my main hunting scope as ranges are limited to 300 yards and in. Naturally a lot of that is in imperfect lighting conditions. So based on that experience, if you really want to identify what you’re shooting at, my choice is a 3-18x with an offset red dot
In addition, you should be aware that even if you wear a bulletproof vest, most likely your opponent will also wear a bulletproof vest. And this significantly affects the requirements for the accuracy of hits at a longer distance. In general, we have increased the requirements for accuracy and aiming even for ordinary soldiers. So, marksman must be even more accurate.
Tito Freedom, love the wealth of knowledge and freshing insight not commonly regurgitated by many other channels. Was wondering if you were planning on taking us out of the classroom and to range sometime to show us how it's done? Cheers!

A 6.5 Grendel is far easier to get ammunition for and you can easily source 100 grain Wolf steel cased ammunition for it on the cheap. With the 123+ grain bullets it bucks wind well and has enough mass to do way more damage past 800 meters than any 77grain OTM. I just got into the Grendel game with a 20" barrel and I also have a couple of MKXII SPR's one Centurion and one clone I built that's more tailored to a sniper role with a Magpul PRS adjustable stock. I look forward to stretching them all out as far as possible as precisely as possible and know the absolute limits of both cartridges. I also plan to check differences between the 77gr OTM to the 75 gr ammunition that's available. Twist rate is definitely a factor. I know that my 16" heavy barreled S&W M&P Sport II rifle is a 1/4 MOA capable rifle with 55gr and likely with 62gr. I plan to try every possible loading and check the differences with that rifle also cause it's been ultra reliable and just bloody precise for the cost. I'm absolutely impressed. I expect that the cheap ATI Omni Hybrid rifles I got my son's as entry level AR's will put out similar precision at half the cost and likely less than half the weight despite them both having heavy barrels. I may well buy one of those for myself for Coyote's as they're more handy than the long barrel Mossberg MVP Predator bolt action I got for a song. I ended up building 3 different lighter weight 16" barreled uppers so I can have a more handy "go to war gun" now I'm actually finally building an AR10 in .308 so that will be interesting to support also as it's an 18" heavy barrel. It sucks waiting for things to ship😊😂
@@nikos6220 makes sense. Usually the answer is not "this material over that material." The answer is "these are my needs....which material fits my needs better?" Because different materials have different properties and advantages and disadvantages. So without some context for what you will be doing, how can one make a decision? Titanium is lighter weight for the same size can. Inconel stands up better to heat. And salt water/corrosion. Do you plan to shoot full auto? Or do mag dumps? Do you want to shave weight from a rifle? Do you need a large can? Or will a small one do? What are your needs? Do you have experience carrying your current rifle on patrol? If that is not something you have had opportunity to do, are you hunting with the rifle? Are you carrying it around while chasing deer or pigs? What do you think of the weight? What do you think of the balance? How many shots do you plan to take? Have you looked at what titanium cans are rated for? If you do 25 shots over a 20 min building clearance, then have to do a 400m shot, will a titanium can survive? (Yes). So what I'm pushing you to do is fish for yourself, not just spend money on something someone says to spend money on. Learn to learn. Define your requirements. Define what you need your tools to do. And if you can't do that, you don't need the tool, you need training and experience. If you can't define what your tool needs to do, get a $10 A2 flash hider and spend money on training and go hunting to cement the training. And study up on can materials. big game softpoints need 1800 fps to expand reliably in flesh. What happens in jello is irrelevant. Beyond 400 yds, with a short barrel, you'll not be getting bullet expansion from a 5.56. So you might as well have had ball ammo. Match hps are not designed to expand in flesh. They are designed to be maximally accurate. Softpoints are always a little bit less accurate than match bthps. However, at realistic ranges, that doesn't mean a thing. What the military gets away with doing, you better not TRY as a civilian. You have nothing to gain by engaging people who have no idea of your presence, and if they DO know of you, they wont be holding still and you wont be reliably hitting them beyond 300m if they are moving. All you can do is GUESS at the speed at which they are moving and GUESS how much "lead" you have to use in order to hit the mover. You wont have chopper evac, med care, uncle sugar's air cav or bases to go hide in. So dont start what you can't handle and you can handle, VERY little, in reality.
