I believe starting with the P51C and some sources say the P51B say the American mustang was powered by a Rolls Royce Merlin engine. The first Mustangs in combat were equipped with Allison engines and were built for and piloted by the British Royal Air Force in fact the P51 Mustang was was originally designed and built for the RAF and the USAAF made orders afterward. The Mustang really became the best piston engine fighter of the war when it was equipped with the Merlin engine. P51D is my favorite US WW2 fighter that came with a new clean bubble canopy.
"Cadillac of the Skies" - Beautifully flown and displayed by Pilot Robert. No screwing, just a lovely sensitive display. Markings, if I recall correctly, are 355th Fighter Group Eighth Airforce based at Wormingford U.K. W.W.II (just a short drive from our home.) Very nice Boys!
That could not have gone any better. The plane is solid. No issues with anything.What a joy at the field today. I hope the Stuka will fly just like the Mustang did. Perfect!

Hi Petrincic Bros., I have next to this aircraft in the 90s, back when Colonel Urquhart was the pilot. I chatted with him quite awhile about Mustangs. He has since passed it on to Colonel Larry Lumpkin. It's good to see a model of it and that you are flying it.

I flew mine for a year or so on the stock power system. It is adequite. Flying with momentum helps but I can say that on 6S the power is outstanding. Vertical is practically unlimited. Not scale but it's nice to have that power. This plane is my favorite flyer and I have many. It just flies great

Hey Robert; before you fly that in the quarry, I recommend that you take the drop tanks off. I have nearly 50 flights on my 1450mm Red Tail. I have found that I get quicker, sharper responses without the drop tanks taking away lift and causing drag. Maneuvering around that quarry, you'll need all the response you can get. Now days I rarely put on the tanks. I mostly use them for static display and take them off before flight.
Good thinking my friend. But this baby is second hand and the previous owner glued the tanks on. I could cut them off, but it still looks much better with them.

Viewers and subscribers, I think we saw something here equivalent to seeing Bigfoot. We just saw Pilot Robert screwing around, hahaha. Very good show you just gave us. I've been flying for almost a year now and still get nervous as hell trying to pull off maneuvers. This P-51 is going to look sweet flying in the quarry.

The "GunFighter"is an awesome P-51 Mustang! The real one has been in Wichita many times,and we had it in our avionics shop at Yingling Aircraft a couple of times,while I was working there.Robert,I am glad that you are showing some of the planes from your hanger that we have not seen for a while! Hey Steve,worked at Cessna in 1978 till Feb 1979 when I went to Yingling.Stayed till 1998,then went to Lear/Bombardier Service Center.Just retired in '18 after 40 yrs.working in Wichita as an A&P mech.

I remember looking at reviews on this aircraft prior to me buying it and I read that the FMS P51 Fly's like its on rails. I never really understood that review until after I purchased the plane and flew it. It is a very stable plane and I finally understood the term. Very stable and easy to fly and very scale. Love the Video. Still waiting on the FMS Fox Glider 3000mm lol.

One of my all time fave FMS models! I have the B model and turned it into a Red Tail. Mine uses a 4s 35c 5800 Roaring Top pack, 4s 30c 6200mah pack or 5s 35c 4500 pack!! 4s pack yield abut 12-16mins flight time and 5s gives me almost 10 mins!!! Such a fun bird! You guys need to do the zip tie mod as well.

if you don't want a blury shot ...put the camera to manual focus then focus on the furthest thing away in the shot ie. a distant hill for example...every thing from the hill to the lens will be in focus.
The FMS P-51 is a great flyer and as you say Robert has been out now for a few years and proven itself to be a realistic rendering of the Mustang,this will look great straffing the quarry diving and pulling up at the end of the run.
The video looked really good as the machine comes towards you with the gear dropping plus the flaps too,the undercarriage is a little weak and the doors are flimsy,you also need to keep your eyes on the undercarriage suspension too as the screws can work loose and the wheels move sideways,yes this is a real pilots aeroplane and every warbird enthusiast should have one in their fleet.Incidently 'Gun Fighter' is really 'The Millie G' not sure why they changed that ? but it is an attractive colour scheme non the less,so head for the quarry brother's ! and lets see it in its element.

I have one of these v7 Ferocious Frankie and it's like flying through cream so smooth, have flown it on 4s 12ah for a long time no problem had batteries in the tanks as well as two in the fuse no problem. Also tried 5 and 6 S with prop mod. Has a lot of mods like lights In guns ,moving canopy, gun noise, moving pilot head, actual drop tanks etc and v8 landing gear and module and more it's a foamy but a great plane.
Trying to get wife's approval to get the Red Tail version. They no longer have the Shangrila version like my V1 Airfield 1450mm P-51. Showing your video now. Let's hope she says yes!😁👍

Beautiful flight Robert. This plane is a dream to fly. I have the 1400mm and the 1700mm Ferocious Frankie by FMS. I also have the Top Flight 63 inch mustang that i put a DLE 20 in and all flight great. No motion does not carry the gun fighter. Actually it seems that they are out of stock on just about all the FMS birds. I dont know if they are dropping the FMS birds or what. If they do that would be a shame because they are great for carrying any replacement items that you might want. Keep them coming my Friends. OH YEAH. SALUTES TO YOU ON SUCH A BEAUTIFUL FLIGHT.
