Just finished it. Dude, this is literally near flawless. It's so amazing. The story was very good, animation perfect, dialogue fits perfectly with the tone of this, and a very good music choice. Awesome video, can't wait to see where the story continues
My god man that was spectacular! I can see all the hard work you put into this and it really shines through in the final product, this should be seen millions of times just for the technical aspects alone. Can’t wait until the next and it’s an honor to be in your presence
there's really nothing else I can say that I haven't seen already. this is really good. I think my least favourite part about this experience was the 20 second unskippable ad I got halfway through, fuck UA-cam fr. I just wanna say that I think the idea of this character is awesome. kind of a rookie-esque dude with PTSD, not so much that he's incapable but like socially he's inept and kinda depressed, but he's kept along because he's so fucking badass. when he gets into combat he just kinda sees red and goes ham, at least that's my interpretation. I'd love to see more of him being developed, not really see his face or hear his voice specifically but just get insight into how he is under different combat and social situations. be great to see the dynamic with the other members of the team, the leader who might see him as a useful pet or maybe even a son, the red ODST who's sort of becoming a chill best friend that believes in him and actually cares, maybe another guy that challenges him. I am definitely getting ahead of myself with thoughts as usual, but there's a lot of things you can do with the character, that's just how good you've portrayed him. only wish I didn't discover this so soon after posting, now I've got to wait for the second part, and I know just how long stop motion has to take to be this brilliant.
Such a perfect analysis. You almost aced everything I planned to do with character development. Im glad I portrayed the characters so well. I struggle with that stuff
Dave you've really outdone yourself. The camera movements are realistic and cinematic (which I love) and the animation is top quality. Honestly speaking great job easing in and out. Overall the animation is 11/10. Again, great work keep it up
Never seen such fantastic editing skills. Acting was perfect and loved the characters. Would love to see a part 2. Lighting of the bullet and the plasma fire were emersive and made a simple mega block feel into a war scene. Keep it up. Hope to see more of you in the future.
Man, that was suburb. I really love the theme of it, the intense and short feeling. The effects were also really awesome. The Covenant cruiser leaving slip space was really on par. Makes the atmosphere ten times better. Great job and I can't wait to see more.
Okay, gonna write all my thoughts as I watch. Already enjoying the opening shot. Very Star Wars. Excellent build and light effects. Good job establishing tone with lighting and longer shots. I think your composition could use some touch-ups, but I still have trouble with that kinda thing myself. I recommend doing some research on screen direction, the rule of thirds, and the 180-degree-rule. I went over it a bit in my video on directing action. OOOH DIEGETIC MUSIC NICE TOUCH Building up intrigue with minimal dialogue. Nice hook. Pro tip: Camera moves should always be motivated by on-screen events. If the camera follows a character, then the character should start to move before the camera does. If the camera sweeps to a door opening, then the door should begin to open first, and the camera should react. Also, I wanna point out that your set is fantastic. Just enough detail to look convincing, but not so much that it’s distracting. Okay, big action scene! Just the right amount of chaos! That Warthog impact felt great! And it looks like all practical effects, too- that lighting is INTENSE but it works perfectly! Must have been actual agony to animate that fire. So I take it this is the incident that’s got the private so distressed. Love the red accents in the briefing scene. Also, this dude has depression. Nice. Okay, your acting can be a bit much at times- waving arms everywhere and bouncing up and down- so my recommendation is to shoot some reference footage. You don’t have to copy it, just act out the lines and pay attention to what feels natural. LOVE that hard cut to the private just absolutely passed away on the crate. okay. that shot at 5:36 with the planet and the tiny ship. that’s good stuff. …How does that slipspace rupture look so good? I’m gonna have to get some details on your space scenes. I could learn a thing or two. DID YOU BUILD THAT ENTIRE CARRIER YOURSELF WHAT THE HECK The motion blur and the camera shake. Perfect. HOW DID YOU DO THAT SHIP EXPLOSION EFFECT IS THAT A 3D PARTICLE SIMULATION oh jeez the lighting on that energy sword is NICE actually that entire fight scene was NICE OH CLIFFHANGER Okay. Finished. Basically: that was freaking excellent. You’ve gone on the list of animators who I’d want to animate The Last Colony part 3 if someone kills me before I can do it myself.
Oh jeez! I appreciate all the feedback! I know my camera isn't the best and that probably takes away from some of the scenes. This is my first actual Halo Film I've ever made, so the dialogue and scripting was pretty rough.... Seeing as I winging all the writing on the spot lol. Part 2 actually has a script and I'd love to get your feedback on it if u want to revise it maybe?

Dude I literally rewatched this 6 times so far. I haven’t watched a single stopmotion that many times in that short of time, besides last colony part 2 from Mootroidxproductions and the planet qutari series from Badlaxe. This video is just so good dude
I like how the intro is played along with the somber music, and cuts right into battle. One of the best stop motions I’ve ever seen, with lights and effects. Props to you! I like how you give Private the personality of a guy with ptsd, makes him a more loved character
This is the best Halo mega construx stop motion I've ever seen, man I love everything, the way you did the shots effects is impressive, the set design is beautiful I love it so much, the lighting is perfect, the story is awesome and the action scenes are so amazing, a really enjoyable video, congratulations, can't wait for more
So good to finally see this video finished! You did an outstanding job. I'm still blown away by the parts made in Blender. And those muzzle flash effects, the animation and lighting were all superb. Well done man!! Really hope there's more to come!
Watched the whole thing. 1) lighting The lighting was sooo good it gave me that halo look but also that look of aliens bd other great films where you balanced colour and the amount making the cockpit of the ship look so realistic just by its lighting. 2) Sets the sets were phenomenal. Every single detail was thought of and they were realistic and well built. 3)animation Don’t even get me started on the animation. The animation was super smooth with your realistic take on human movements and with your style. Every movement had perfect ease in and out. 4) practical effects The practical effects were amazing the smoke was excellently executed and the muzzle flashes were really cool and different from what most people do! 5) visuals effects/cutscenes The cutscenes in space really took my breath away. The lighting in those shots was perfect and made me feel very much like I was in space and the slip space rupture and the covenant cruiser were phenomenal I really liked those shots! Your friend did an awesome job! 6) sound design! The sound design was detailed yet very simple not overdone not underdone! You’re much better at sound design than me and my software always has seizures and all. 7) music I cannot give you enough praise and credit for this. To be able to make your own music is phenomenal I mean even if you play a instrument it’s a different expirence from making music and so the music itself was great but as a soundtrack it really fit the story and helped the visual storytelling. 8) characters I loved all the characters. I love the halo 3 ODST vibe of the rookie with the main charater and also I liked how you developed them over time. (Ex: the sergeant/boss starting to respect the private more after seeing what he did teaching him to not judge people) 9) script The script was phenomenal! Great character dialogue that felt natural and realistic and casual and that’s something really hard to acehive and I’m impressed at how real the characters seemed. 10) story I really loved this story. So simple yet I’ve never seen anything liked this. I see you drew inspiration from halo combat evolved with the amber clad being attacked and boarded by a covenant force while master cheif and marines escaped although yours was entirely different. 11) overal review 10/10 I have absolutely nothing to criticize here. Maybe you could have used slightly less movements when they talked since people don’t move as much when they talk but it did add charater. You could have also colour corrected or used purple paper for the covenant cockpit to make it look more “covenant” but still that’s being very critical. This was a masterpiece probably one of the best animations I’ve seen in a really long time. I mean this is on the level of Badlaxe with the characters and all. I really enjoyed this story and the overal animation and I’m so glad you’re continuing this. Congrats on this and thanks for all the effort you went through to make this it must have taken a long time and lots of effort (I know since I’ve made sos and that was shorter). This was impeccable.
Oh this is very good Dave. I am intrigued by your halo stopmotions for I don’t play the game. But this is amazing in all ways . Music choice was very well put. Studio LD did a great job on vfx . This has to be your best work yet . Wow.
Glad u think so. Almost started working on pt 2 this morning
