    Actually tons of Imperial supporters still worship Talos. Torygg worshipped Talos. It's implied that Elisif worships Talos. It can be seen that Rikke worships Talos. Contrary to your belief, most people, Imperial supporters or not, still worship Talos. They do this because they hate the Thalmor, everyone hates the Thalmor, so they worship Talos to spite them. And only Thalmor justicars actually enforce the Talos ban, Imperial soldiers turn a blind eye at every chance they can.

      MemeMaster 420xX People like Elisif, Erikur, Rikke, Aldis, Rorlund & Freir are nothing more than puppets of the imperials. They listen to their imperial masters and spread their imperial propaganda. They don't have free will. they just do&say what their masters tell to them to say. As I said, they are puppets to the imperials, and imperials are puppets to the Thalmor.

    You forgot part.
    If you follow Hadvar at the beginning, in Riverwood you will learn from Advar the Blacksmith that, while open Talos worship was prohibited, everyne had their own shrines to Talos at home.
    The worship was tolerated, if frowned upon. It wasn't until Ulfric started making a big deal about it that the Aldemeri Dominion demanded that the Empire crack down on it.
    While I agree that the Empire has become a shadow of its former self, they simply have a better chance against the inevitable conflict with the Aldmeri Dominion.

    The line General Tullius says at the end of the Stormcloak side of the Civil War sums it up perfectly. "This is what they wanted" The Empire can only beat the Dominion unified, by breaking Skyrim away from the Empire, Ulfric is doing exactly what the Thalmor want.

    • @ahtinen4004

      Thomas Hague What about Hammerfell?! They declined White-Gold Concordat and were disbanded from The (shadow of former Glorious Septim Empire) Empire. Dominion invaded them shortly after, and Redguards were able to defeat them. When Skyrim becomes independent and joins forces against Dominion along with Hammerfell or even High Rock, they have pretty good chance to not destroy, but defeat Dominion invading forces and drive them away from Hammerfell&Skyrim

    • @HumanOfPrey
      @HumanOfPrey 7 років тому +65

      +Ahti Kõks Hammerfell didn't beat the Dominion, they fought them to a standstill and asked for a treaty, after which the Dominion left willingly. The only logical reason why they wanted that land was for an invasion into the Empire or resentment from Hammerfell towards the Empire. They don't try that because they don't want, nor need them. And If you honestly think that Hammerfell will ally with the Stormcloaks you haven't heard of their national pride and the cities of Dragonstar and Elinhir.

      by the time that happens, they will have lost the protection of talos, which is what the dominion was truly after in the first place. they couldn't actually eradicate all of mankind, because their belief in talos protected them. if the empire wins, worship of talos is banned, his power fades, and mankind becomes vulnerable, allowing the dominion to pick them off at their leisure. if the stormcloaks win, the dominion can just cut off all trade to and from skyrim, and sit by the waterways to windhelm and destroy any ships that try to leave with their magic. skyrim now collapses under their lack of farms and self-sustenance. either way, skyrim is completely screwed.

    Also worth mentioning that the reason Talos is banned is mostly Ulfrics fault.
    Look at whiterun.
    Until Ulfric attacked and forced Balgruuf to pick a side, there was free talos-worship in Whiterun, even a preacher yelling in the middle of the street.
    But because of Ulfric's attack, Talos is now banned in Whiterun.

Just like HITLER used the jews, and Lenin used the Bourgouesis. The big question I have is: Where does the Dragonborn fit into all this? The Thalmor will want him/her dead no matter how the Civil War ends, so a possible scenario is the Dragonborn making a play for High King, getting the crown, and then uniting Skyrim under their banner. If that happens, I see Hammerfell and Black Marsh falling in, with High Rock joining soon after. And unlike the Empire, chances are good the Dragonborn can take the fight to those jackass elves. At bare minimum, if Dawnguard is counted as canon (and it should be), they'll have 2 dragons on call, and one of them cannot be killed.

    I always thought, and kind of still think that the stormcloak vs Empire debate was mostly deciding between now and later.
    I think the Empire has made it obvious that they don't agree with the ban of talos and planned to eventually go to war with the thalmor. I'm not too familiar with elder scrolls lore, but I got the impression that the ban of talos was a surrender term so it was either don't worship talos or we wipe out everyone. Given that, if the stormcloaks win, the thalmor would most likely come in to lay waste to everyone (due to the loss of the Empire, there'd be nothing stopping them), and since the stormcloaks would be fresh out of war, they'd be weak and easy pickings.
    If the Empire wins, they'd have time to actually prepare for war to fight to gain the right to worship talos back.
    This is what I thought was going on. I always thought that if the stormcloaks win, they'd be put straight into another war (kind of like when you're being given a swirlie and you get a slight breath right before being shoved back in.) I might be wrong about this though.

    HAHA! Suck it, Stormcloaks!
    But seriously though, at the time of The Elder Scrolls V backing The Empire seems like the more prudent action for the long-run seeing as there is a pretty good chance that The dominion will attack again . Then again, they may have somewhat of a smaller army and less diverse army, seeing how they treated the Bosmer.... Personally, if i where in charge i'd start making arrangements with the clans of Valeenwood, restock the Imperial Legions, build a massive fleet, re-open comunications with Hammerfell, broker a peace between Morrowind and the tribes of Black Marsh and propose an alliance with The Empire and rip the White-Gold Concordat as a final, defiant gesture before invading the Thalmor outposts in on Tamriel and start to an invasion of The Summerset Isles..... but that's just me

They have Summerset to the west and Elsweyr to the east sorrounded. Defection is very unlikely. There would be a bloody reprisal against them.

      but what if they just got out of the way? what if they come to terms with the empire to simply not interfere with the advancement of the legions and after the imperials take the thalmor camps they decide what to do? sounds like a good enough plan overall

      @paulgrattan8172 8 років тому

      Most Bosmer in Valenwood probably agree with the Thalmor and the reason this Aldmeri Dominion was created. Using the failings of the Empire to protect them and the abandonment during the Oblivion crisis is a very strong reason why the Bosmer gave the Empire a big fuck you and joined with their Elven cousins. The idea of a pact of the Elven races like the pacts of old would be very tempting. The Thalmor did point out mans failings. And yeah the Thalmor did assassinate the resistors but most are in favour. The Bosmer will have to be beaten in war im afraid.

  • @hankhill8146
    @hankhill8146 7 років тому +141

    The Imperial armies are already greatly replenished. As General Tullius says
    "Most of the Legion is in Cyrodiil, waiting for the Dominion's next invasion."
    "From the Imperial City our war here is just a side-show, an interlude before the main event against the Thalmor resumes."
    The Dominion would have a very hard time replenishing their armies, as High Elves have a very slow reproductive system and Valenwood and Summerset were both purged of all non-Mer. The Thalmor also kill nine out of every ten babies that are born, to keep the ones that are purest.
    But, even if both the Redguards and the Nords went up against the Dominion, they'd lose. As neither of them use magic and they both have inferior navies. In fact, most of the ships in Skyrim belong to the Empire. And, Hammerfell still relies on the EEC for trade, as does every province, giving the Imperials an immortalized standing, militarily, politically and economically in every province in Tamriel, even the Dominion ones, though Dominion provinces have proven to be very self-sufficient.
    It's not like the Empire wanted to outlaw Talos worship, they were forced. And, it was actually Ulfric who caused the Dominion to have a standing in Skyrim, being able to arrest people, with his Markarth incident. The Thalmor patrolling the Empire originally wasn't part of the treaty, the Dominion just wanted it outlawed and when they found out of the Empire's betrayal of the treaty at Markarth, the Emperor's hand was forced and the Thalmor took it upon themselves.
    Also, Ulfric didn't have to kill Torygg in the Duel and shouting in battle is frowned upon in Nordic tradition and has been ever since the massacre of Red Mountain. In the duel, Ulfric only had to make Torygg yield. Take the duel between Jorrun and his brother for example. This duel was for the Nordic throne, and Jorrun won and he didn't kill his brother. Only made him yield. The Imperials also have a law in place for this kind of traditional dueling that gives magistrates the right to arrest Ulfric for foul murder, if the weaker party was goaded, or intimidated to doing the duel and the weaker party is killed in the process.
    There's a misconception about the Medes. That they're some kind of corrupt horrible machine that purposefully causes pain onto others. The Medes are very humble, in fact, Titus Mede II saved the Empire during the Great War with the concordat, to rebuild the armies. The Medes don't have a reputation for corruption. They've never had a single bad Emperor, as far as we know. The notable Emperors were Attrebus Mede, Titus Mede I and Titus Mede II. You already get to meet Titus Mede II in the game and he was a humble guy, but sadly, the community has become so backwards with this Stormcloak mindset that the Medes are the most hated people in the game, especially Titus Mede II, which sucks because he pulled the greatest military victory in history. He defeated the Dominion's army wiping out most of it, which not even Tiber Septim could do with just his armies alone. Titus Mede II was only in his late 20s when he pulled off this victory.
    I know you'll probably miss this, but please read it and take my points into consideration.

      Aldmeri Dominion = High Elves + Wood Elves + Khajiits. This is not just everyone Vs High Elves fight, it's much bigger than that.

    • @hankhill8146
      @hankhill8146 7 років тому +21

      +HumanOfPrey I wouldn't be so sure. Both Summerset and Valenwood have been purged and we know that they were also killing Wood Elves. It may have only been the impure Wood Elves, but as far as we know, the Khajiit and Wood Elves don't fight along side the High Elves in the Dominion's army, or as Justiciars, rather they're used according to their race. The Khajiit as assassins and Wood Elves, well we don't know what the Wood Elves are used for. But, take Malborn's family in Valenwood, wiped out by the Thalmor during their purges. This shows that they were killing Wood Elves, but they haven't purged Elsweyr.
      But, if you have any examples of Wood Elves and Khajiit fighting in the Dominion's army, then I'll wait. The Thalmor and the Dominion may be separate, but all of the Thalmor Justiciars are High Elves. So, either the Thalmor only take High Elves and the Dominion army is more diverse, or they both only take High Elves. But, lore-wise, there's never been a recorded instance of a non High Elf fighting in the Dominion's army. Take Salvianus' quote for example.
      "Their skin was golden, but their blood was red. I knew it would be."
      and this loading screen; "Only by signing the peace treaty known as the White-Gold Concordat was the Empire able to survive the onslaught of the *high elven* Aldmeri Dominion, and thus end the Great War."

Alduin's intervention only delayed the inevitable. What hope would they have against an immediate thalmor invasion even if they did win? The game already told us what's gonna happen, the Empire will gather its strength, stop the rebellion and fucking destroy the nazi elves. The Empire fucking LOVES Talos, it's his empire after all. Outlawing his worship was an ultimatum from the thalmor after the imperial capital was sacked. If Ulfric really loved Talos he wouldn't have abandoned everything he stood for to strike out on his own, and he even admits his actions were stupid.

      Relevance to Ulfric's view on the war?
      As to the "problem" you speak of I don't recall Ulfric implementing a ban on Talos worship, taxation to pay war reparations to the Dominion, or creating the dissatisfaction with how Imperial leadership has handled the Dominion threat. Those things were in place for the past 30 years and are in fact stated reasons for the rebellion. Removing Ulfric doesn't magically resolve the unrest that the WGC created. The circumstances that birthed the rebellion will still be there and as soon as someone else starts taking action, then all the people currently supporting Ulfric would simply support whoever the next person would be.

    • @tylerpeterson3281
      @tylerpeterson3281 8 років тому +29

      Raving Nutter, it's a debate where both sides are wrong, the empire is looking over a much larger area and is attempting to look out for all of its people, at the cost and dissent of Skyrim, where as the stormclokes, legitimate rebellion or thalmor plot, are looking out for skyrim alone at the cost of the emperor. the loss of skyrim would start a domino effect leaving a broken, weaker continent for the dominion to dominate leading to dickish high elf rule, where as an imperial victory would still soe the seeds of dissent leading to problems further on. remember, the entire provence is divided on this issue, nearly 50/50, support for both sides, and like all politics, there is no right answer, just areas of grey. moraly it comes down to personal preference, do you stand for racial, or religious freedom? do you believe in unity, or independence? can the provinces stand alone, or do they need the empire to stand against a greater force?

    Honestly the bit that many don't consider is WHAT ELSE HAPPENS when thinking of the Civil War:
    - The Emperor dies - The Imperials lose their emperor to the Dark Brotherhood, which means that regardless of who wins, there will be a change in leadership for the Imperials, which will probably lead to the agreement with the Dominion being dissolved.
    - The Blades are reformed - The NSA of the Imperials is restarted with a Dragonborn as it's Leader.
    - Tiber Septim The 1st WAS Dragonborn - That necklace that keeps the Daedra at bay is powered by the blood of Dragonborns, hence why it doesnt work when worn by other people. This could open the possibility of the Dragonborn in Skyrim becoming the new lineage of royalty.
    I get that the Empire in its current state before the events of Skyrim was definitely in a weakened state due to its poor leadership. However, given the Mead Dynasty is killed off in Skyrim, leadership change is unavoidable. And with the revival of the Blades with a Dragonborn leading them, this will strengthen the Empire in a serious way.
    The Empire banned Talos worship OFFICIALLY, but unofficially? Highly doubt it. The Empire needed a way to build back up their forces and this was the only way. If the Empire stood their ground when they were in no position to do so, things would have been a HELLUVA lot worse for Skyrim. And thats what the Stormcloaks dont see. Plus any moron can see that the Dominion wanted this Civil War to happen.
    And in truth, Ulfric Stormcloak winning would be a GOOD THING for the Dominion, as it severely weakens the Empire, making the next war a DEFINITIVE victory for the Dominion. After that, Skyrim will be targeted next since the Dominion take extreme issue with Talos worship. You can bet that the Dominion would win after that.
    If the rebellion fails, then the Empire has a much better chance of winning the next war and possibly driving out the Dominion from the continent. And before that war happens, the Empire will abolish the agreement about Talos worship.
    The agreement was a temporary compromise, nothing more.
    Ulfric winning may APPEAR good for Skyrim, but thats only in the short term. Its the long term most don't think about, which will prove to be fatal for the Empire, Skyrim, and everyone else.
    And replacing Dominion racism with Skyrim racism? How the hell is that better? The Empire isnt racist towards anyone, yet Ulfric's "My race is better" is somehow the best option? Its only the best option if you wanna ensure that Skyrim dies as not just a country, but also a culture.

    I've played both sides, first as a "Stormcloak" rebel when I first got the game, then again as an Imperial Legionnaire after reading more about the lore.
    Preserving the Empire is the only thing that will protect Skyrim from the Dominion.
    Ulfric is, indirectly, aiding the Thalmor by draining the Empire of resources and men by being forced to fight what General Tullius referred to as a "sideshow."
    Ulfric preaches about freedom to high-spirited farmers and blacksmiths, as he sends them off to die against well trained and disciplined soldiers, while he sits in a palace at the back of a decaying apartheid city.
    The Legion's test for your recruitment is also 10x better than the rebels.
    Legate Rikke has you clear a bunch of bandits from an abandoned military fort.

  • @jacobfreeman5444
    @jacobfreeman5444 8 років тому +52

    Honestly, I played through the storm cloak ending once and found it distasteful. Ulfric is an egotistical traitor. He doesn't care to better his people. He just wants to be the one making the decisions. His rebellion, when you really think about what are the likely results if he won, will actually weaken Skyrim. I can believe part of the rebellion is to escape Thalmor control...but it won't happen. The Thalmor would likely just attack, very likely with Imperial soldiers, if Ulfric decided to thumb his nose at them. His pathetic "rebellion" would be crushed, slowly so that the Thalmor can be certain the Empire is quite weakened, and his vanity will likely see his people's culture destroyed.
    While the Empire does have it's flaws they at least understand what it takes to beat the Thalmor. That is why they let the Thalmor have their way for now. Because it takes much longer for an elf to be replaced than a human. Peace for the Empire means the Empire gets stronger faster then the Dominion. Much faster. Tulius makes it obvious he doesn't care for the rules the Thalmor imposes anymore then the Nords do...he is just practical. A career soldier who understands war very well and knows he must make his nation ready for the fight ahead to throw back the Dominion. His eyes are on the real prize while Ulfric chases vain glorious dreams.

Further, every race in The Elder Scrolls sees themselves as superior to one if not all the other races, based solely on the fact that they are of the race they are birthed from. The Empire is better due to these reasons:
    They aren't racist, they welcome people of all backgrounds.
    They still worship Talos
    Talos was the former first Emperor of the Empire who ruled Skyrim and Tamriel. Everyone was basically worshipping the best Imperial ruler who became a God in the world of Tamriel. One could say, Tiber Septim was basically Tamriel's Augustus Caesar who respected everyone and brought unity, peace and prosperity.
    The true enemy is indeed the Thalmor.
    Clearly the Thalmor made them look bad for standing against them in the previous war
    Ulfric basically fell for the oldest trick in the book, he took the blue pill of ignorance and believed he is fighting for freedom but is really a puppet King used at the Thalmor's pleasure. He was always used as a pawn....and there is evidence to support that he is being used by the Thalmor...and Ulfric has no idea....somehow. Therefore, it can't be biased, it's based truth, the unbiased truth.
    The Empire is redpilled with the honest truth. Anyone offended by this statement is ignorant, a snowflake and definitely a heterophobic truthphobe. (The Thalmor and some Stormcloaks act gay lol and it's degenerative)
    Ulfric should've known better than to kill the previous High King just because he wanted to ally with the Empire and follow tradition. This decision wasn't even a threat to Ulfric in the first place but he took it offensively and "challenged" the King which then led towards his rebellion which isn't for Skyrim's people but for control & power. This leads towards my next point; Jarl Baalgruuf knows that Ulfric's Rebellion isn't about freedom, it is about his self centered dream for power to become King.
    For many years, non Nords have lived in Skyrim and have come to call it their home as well as the Nords. Why must you hate outsiders for loving the land that you are native in? If the Imperials were truly evil, wouldn't they want to exterminate and burn the land like the Thalmor does? Clearly, the Imperials are not the bad guys, they have been framed. General Tullius is right about one thing, Ulfric did start the war but what he got wrong is, the Thalmor manipulated him into doing so with deception and false promises. I wouldn't even be surprised when the Thalmor show their true hand and kill Ulfric after you help the Stormcloaks kill the General of the Legion.
    The Thalmor wanted the civil war in order to distract everyone while they cover their asses and conquer the rest of the world. For those of you who don't know about the true intentions of the Thalmor, they hate anyone who isn't elf kind, especially humans.
    The Nords have always needed the empire and vice versa.
    When Titus first united Tamriel and formed the first Empire, the Nords never hated the Empire.
    One last thing, just because people are loyal to the Empire, it doesn't mean they agree with everything. This is prior to what Hadvar's uncle was going on about; "I may be a man of the empire, but it doesn't mean I agree with everything they have been doing." You go with it because you somehow know it's for the best, that it's for the greater good. In this case, there should've been a better solution than to just execute the traitors but, they wouldn't listen to reason nor anything else...so...that's why execution is what they had faced.
    Ulfric is behind the incident of the attempt on Margaet's life in Markarth, who was nearly killed by a hired assassin who was in league with the Forsworn.
    Ulfric believes he is liberating Skyrim, that is what the Thalmor have made him to believe. They kept telling him that lie until he believed it just like what Petyr Baelish said from the GoT show, "if you keep telling yourself a lie, you'll end up believing it."
    Alot believe that he is selfish and he does act selfish at times, even Jarl Baalgruuf believes it, even I can see his true selfish motives for power. While at the same time, he is working with the Thalmor too. Number 2 and 3 is what is truly happening while number 1 is what is deceiving those who believe in Ulfric's cause. Therefore, number 1 is a cover up, while number 2 and 3 are being kept as a secret.
    Nords who follow Ulfric are the Nationalists since Nationalists only care about their own people of their own background. The Imperials are Internationalists who care about everyone, and every race besides themselves. The thesis here is ofc the Imperials. The anti thesis is the Stormcloaks along with the Thalmor.

    The main thing to point out is that if the Empire has the Dragonborn on their side the Dominion will be ripped into pieces.

  • @HolyknightVader999
    @HolyknightVader999 7 років тому +1

    The Empire can defeat the Dominion once they mop up the Skyrim Civil War. Assuming that the Dragonborn is an Imperial, once the Empire wins in Skyrim, the Dragonborn can use their powers to bend-will an army of dragons as well as use their connections with the Thieves' Guild, Companions, and the Winterhold College to create a more modernized army in Skyrim to assist the Legion in going to war. Ideally, they will have also joined and taken over the Dark Brotherhood, by which they will have assassinated Titus Mede II. This would not only give the Empire an assassins' guild to train assassins, but also free up the Imperial hierarchy for someone more competent to take over, say, either General Tullius or the Dragonborn becoming Emperor, or in the case of a female Dragonborn, Empress.
    The Dragonborn will also have either the Dawnguard or the Volkihar vampires on their side: the Volkihar can mobilize vampires as an asset to the Empire and have them be excellent infiltration and night-ambush units, while the Dawnguard's methods for Vampire-hunting can apply to Thalmor high mages as well, since many vampires ARE mages. Combining this all with a Skyrim that is recovering from the Civil War with the economic support of the Empire, and Skyrim's Imperial legions can be buffed up to the point where the Elder Council can repudiate the terms of the White-Gold Concordat, which will allow Talos worship once again and move the Dominion to war-exactly what Tullius and the Dragonborn would want.
    With Skyrim's Imperial Legions buffed up with training from the Companions and the Mages' College, support from the Volkihar vampires or the Dawnguard, and extra money and assassins from the Thieves' Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, as well as air support from dragons, this can totally turn the tide against the Dominion. Even with the weak and feeble leadership of the Mede Emperors, the Empire was still enough to force the Dominion to a draw. With the Dragonborn's help, the Empire can turn that draw into a massive advantage for themselves. With most of the Empire secure and Skyrim recovering, the DB can even take the initiative and attack Alinor first with their dragons, making a follow-up invasion by the Legion far more devastating.
    This is the main advantage that the Empire offers: a larger host of forces as well as economic support to help Skyrim get over the Civil War faster. The Civil War in Skyrim is basically getting one half of the country to pound the other half into pancake batter. With Imperial coin and trade deals, Skyrim can recover faster, which means that they can declare war on the Thalmor sooner than the Thalmor can plan, before the Dominion can be ready. Which means the Imperials will triumph and crush the Thalmor forces, forcing them to either surrender or get devastated by the Empire, just as it was during the reign of Tiber Septim.

Considering High Rock and them fought over the Reach before, the empire could just "help" High Rock take the Reach back and then just starve skyrim into submission cause, skyrim doesn't have much friendship with other nations besides the empire.

      Captain Gaming It's very unlikely Bethesda intentionally made there be few farms as a way to say an independent Skyrim would be unsuccessful, the fact is while Bethesda is great they weren't going for such depth, and even then if you took into account the size of Skyrim within the game itself then made the other provinces accordingly with the correct levels of population there wouldn't be nearly enough food to feed all the people of tamriel. All the farms in Skyrim combined could probably feed solitude and its visitors and according to the lore there is no province which is comprised almost entirely of farmland which is what it would take to feed all the people in tamriel (also according to the 3 latest ES games most of the population are bandits, vampires, necromancers or deadra worshippers whom live in the wilds which makes no sense but heigh-ho).
      The only way for the world of elder scrolls to make sense following the rules the 'world' of elder scrolls seems to follow (most people need to eat, drink, sleep etc in a similar pattern as we do) is to assume the actual world is far larger (like Daggerfall but maybe even much bigger) and the population is mostly all in villages/towns/cities/camps or there is in fact a secret form that isn't mentioned that all peoples of Tamriel are allowed and allow others to access. If the first (and in my opinion more likely) is the case then like the things not represented in game (eating, ageing etc) they would have it be mentioned in dialogue or text. Just think of how in Fallout 3 they never explain where any of the food comes from despite the main focus of the game being the procurement of clean water, a necessity like food (niether of which shown through mechanics to be a necessity for a human/ghoul(?)/super-mutant(?) etc to function but only through the world).

    I play both sides and really I think the imperial position is slightly better. I think if ulfric wins Skyrim will be very unfriendly to all other races . The alikir warriors not allowed in whiterun, khajit not allowed in the cities, dunmer in grey quarters , the war cry Skyrim is for the Nords is all proof of this. As for the outcome no matter what side you choose after the final battle both ulfric and tullius will tell the war is not over and the war will continue for years to come as shown by enemy camps still respawn after final battle. As for Nords leaving the imperial army or defecting back to Skyrim not all Nords agree with ulfric as seen by the battle Bourne's so some may still serve the empire

    • @lovellofwar
      @lovellofwar 8 років тому

      Geoff Sarlo well the funny part about that is some of these incidents you're talking about are happening in the Imperial control regions, so in reality the right thing doesn't matter, hell nobody in solitude likes that one Argonian( spoiler alert )who's really trying to kill you, and it was stated that the high King wouldn't have allowed his ass in the city in the first place.
      Again these are imperial territories were talking about, meanwhile in Riften an Argonian couple owns a business and in general Windhelm has elves allowed to run businesses as well, that's very counterproductive to Ulfric being a straight-up fucking racist and will promote more racist Behavior when in all of the time since the Empire has held Skyrim they were racist from the start and it was widely accepted.
      In short the Empire isn't not racist or less racist it's just as racist but now since the Empire is losing their pretending not to be racist but in reality they don't give a fuck about you.
      Again willing to kill somebody simply because they are in the vicinity of your main target, no matter what your race was how would the Empire not know if you are an Envoy from the Empire itself, if you were going to join the Empire and fighting the Stormcloaks... no fuck that he goes to the block pffff seriously how stupid is the Empire... that's because the Empire is crooked, corrupt and don't want to fact-check because they believe they are always in the right and this is what's killing the Empire right now.
      This type of behavior from a professional military that Prides itself on holding all of its shit together is for the most part acting like a bunch of fucking Bandits.

    • @sagethegreat4680
      @sagethegreat4680 8 років тому

      ha I see you like the storm cloaks but you are actually only partially right . you talk about elves in windhelm yes 2 elves in all of windhelm have businesses ( 1 is the women with the small stall in the market who turns out to be ( spoilers) the thieves guild fence in windhelm so connected the other one owns the club in the grey quarter ) and most of the elves are shoved into the grey quarter which is bad living area . you talk about argonians they aren't even allowed in windhelm. riften is sort of an exception since it's major exports would be Mead and fish and being a fishing community they could use the argonians but also look where the argonians live on the lower levels and any guard will tell you " we have an apothecary in town on the lower level but be careful if you go down there" this statement obviously says it isn't a good area to live . whiterun not letting alik'r soldiers in isn't in either sides territory since whiterun is neutral and there is NPCs that support both sides . I will give the khajit is old Nord law and not saying how old that law is and it happens in every major city on both sides and truthfully these are all Nord ways and feelings as a people none of this is actually representative of the Empires feelings on this even though some of it happens in empire controlled territory ( also the empire has always let it's territories make its own laws and keep it's own beliefs) also if you go to any city in cyrodiil it is a huge mix of races living in all types of houses) the Nords don't really care for other races and if Ulric wins Skyrim will just become more isolated.

    • @lovellofwar
      @lovellofwar 8 років тому

      Geoff Sarlo You're completely missing my point the Nords were doing this long before the Stormcloak War meaning that the Nords and the their racist ways we're allowed to do this, in reality unifying the Empire with Skyrim only means the Empire die slower when the maker of the empire in Morrowind tells you it's going to die do you really think a God is lying to you, it's going to die it doesn't matter what you as a Dragonborn does in the Civil War because we all know that the main characters are never represented completely in side Quest.
      Meaning the Civil War is not canon when you finish it.
      In reality every race is racist in Tamriel again explain why in Morrowind the Dunmer are just as racist as the Nords in Skyrim, if not more by saying all humans are animals and continuously enslaving Khajiits and argonians, the racial divide in Skyrim is not simply because of a civil war it is because of bad blood throughout history blaming it on Ulfric Stormcloak is stupid.

    You don't even need to go over all that lore and logistics. Imperial is the better side because the jarls of a Stormcloak Skyrim are awful. The only "bad" jarls in an Imperial Skyrim are Maven of Riften who if anything is risking her corrupt power by taking on a powerful political position and Siddgeir of Falkreath who is just a lazy youth who lets his intelligent housecarl run the hold effectively. I love the idea of the rebel Stormcloaks as much as the next guy, but both gameplay and lore benefit from an Imperial win.

    As far as the cannon ending, this could be a "dragon break" moment, where all possible events, even the contradictory ones, occur at the same time and converge onto a single canon ending. In the canon, Savos Aren is killed and survives, Wuuthrad is rebuilt and remains in pieces, the civil war remains in progress, Ulfric and Galmar is killed and survives, the same is true for Tellius and Rikke. The whole cannon of elder scrolls is just fan service to players for those who chose certain endings and guilds.

    My guess for a cannon outcome is that it will be vague, but will have something along the lines of a war between Thalmor and an alliance of provinces across Tamriel. Something that can be interpreted as either the Empire more or less unifying the nation under one flag and fighting the Thalmor, or the various provinces being forced to unify against Thalmor due to them having to great of an advantage over the nations with them being divided. While the latter outcome may seem unlikely immediately following the events of the rebellion, the Thalmor war could take place several decades, or even a century or so afterwards, long enough for the bad blood between Stormcloak and Imperial nations to be more of a standing disdain, rather than a leading issue. Following the downfall of the Thalmor, Skyrim is either rewarded independence for its invaluable support in the war, or retains the independence it gained through the revolution, but with the lingering hard feelings being somewhat diluted by the alliance it had with the Empire, and the rewards this alliance provided during the war. While this probably won't be exactly how Bethesda has thing play out, I do expect them to do something along the lines of having a cleverly worded outcome that leaves enough ambiguity for either the Imperial or Stormcloak questlines to have been completed without technically contradicting what's stated in cannon.

    Lore wise, I feel that the dominion would actually lose a 2nd great war. From what I remember of the Lore, the Dominion formed almost immediately after the Oblivion Crisis, a crisis where the high Elves have few oblivion portal open on the summerset Isles, and the few that did where quickly closed with magic. Contrast that with the rest of the Empire where the legion had to fight defensive actions against the portal and endless deadra. Basically the Legion came out of the Oblivion Crisis decimated, while the Thalmor and Dominion had relatively minuscule casualties, especially if they used the Legion on the Summerset Isles to close the Oblivion Portals instead of what would later become Thalmor troops.
    So you basically have a full strength Dominion taking on an utterly decimated Empire that hasn't even started rebuilding before the next war hits them. This means that all the advantages of non-elven races are negated (IE higher population counts, as well as having an easier time replacing casualties, and a superior logistical system) while Talmor advantages are maximized ( Superior Troop quality, officers, and equipment).
    Once you contrast that with say a fully recovered Empire, and one that has likely heavily militarized, and the Talmor advantages begin to lose their edge, add in that the Dominion is stuck in Hammerfell fighting a protracted Guerilla war against the Redguard, and it looks even worse for the Thalmor. That is why they NEED Skyrim to either succeed or , more preferably, be in a constant civil war with the legion, depleting the Legions manpower pools and combat capabilities similar to the Legion at the end of the Oblivion Crisis. Without this, the losses the Talmor are likely taking in Hammerfell, along with a strengthened and united Legion, would negate the advantages of the Talmor, and play to the Legion's advantages, likely ending with the Summerset Isles being isolated from the rest of the continent.

    • @dutchpatriot17
      @dutchpatriot17 5 років тому +1

      Ehh, it didn't quite go like that.
      Summerset suffered quite a bit from the Oblivion Crisis, but the Thalmor just took credit in all the hard work of stopping the invasions. They used their situation to come into power.
      The Empire had also been largely recovering since then. At its weakest point under the Medes it ruled over Skyrim and 7/9th of Cyrodiil. For a while they ruled over all the provinces of Man alongside Elsweyr. The reason they fared as bad in the Great War as they did was because of a few factors. Primarily the fact that the Imperial military was weakened due to a lot of war being fought in a recent timeframe, secondly the Dominion using Daedric artifacts, and of course, the whole invasion being a surprise attack.
      As for Hammerfell; the Dominion and the Redguards are at peace since the Second Treaty of Stros M'Kai.
      But aside from that, you're right.

    my view of the civil war was based on goals at first, then turned to who gave me the better stuff (imperial=ulfrics clothes stormcloak=general tulius' armor[heavy]) but my first view was to long-term and short-term of skyrim. The stormcloaks would be good for short term as they can rally the people to help with repelling the thalmor, but being different can make you the enemy even if your goals are alike, and the legion is spread across tamriel. The legion is the opposite, good for the long-term, but bad for the time being, everyone would be united against an enemy but lacks the strength to do much about it. Sadia, in whiterun, leads to a problem however, that the redguard homeland seperated from the legion, breaking the arm to an already crippled legion under poor leadership.

    if i could choose the new high-king of skyrim it would be brunwulf or balgruuf bouth dudes are good brunwulf 2ants to help those in need but he's a war veteran and he may have carry many scars that make it not possible to do as he wished and balgruuf is the yarl that actually wants whiterun to be a good plae to live you can fing elves redguards and of corse nords and bretons living there even guards are trying to protect (foolishly) saadia from ali'kr warriors and brunwulf again he becomes the yarl of windhelm after imperial victory in skyrim and that made me happy when i visited windhelm becose brunwulf is usually kind and fair he knows that windhelm is devided to nords and elves and the elves had helped them 1000 years ago with argonians with fighting against snow demons of kamal

    I feel like in The Elder Scrolls VI, the Dominion will have complete control and the main story will have Talos invovled. I believe this because of two reasons.
    1 In ESO a song that has a tune from Oblivion plays when you're in Dominion territory.
    2 Bethesda will try to keep each ending compatible so it doesn't make a difference what side you join, because they did this with daggerfall.

      Nah based on lore and stuff you can learn throughout skyrim, you learn the elves nearly lost the war as is, they only agreed to a truce because they Empire was reeling from the sudden attacks, a prepared empire with most of it's strength could probably rebuild an army and defeat the Dominion much easier than you'd expect, for one thing humans breed faster than elves, elven casualties take ALOT longer to recover so in the long haul the elves would lose.

    After watching your stormcloak video I can kinda see where they're coming from. But I'm an imperial supporter through and through. The way I see it is simple. Even if the dominion doesn't initially take over hammerfell and the newly independent skyrim, it would make it much easier for the empire to fall. And once the dominion took control of cyrodiil, they could invade skyrim and hammerfell and neither would stand a chance against a full force land invasion. The dominion would rule over every province in due time. The only chance men have is to stay untied and do everything they can to repel their forces again. If the empire could unite and regain their forces quickly, they could even try to mount a counterattack against the dominion. But this petty squabbling is useless and ulfric and the stormcloaks are playing right into the dominion's hands...even if ulfric is not directly working with the thalmor, he's no doubt doing exactly what the thalmor want him to do

    good to see the other side of the arguement covered. I do think that the dominion are in trouble the next time war comes around for them, imperial or stormcloak led. we still have the dragonborn to think of, and we know there have to be dragons elsewhere in tamriel for the dragonborn to bring to bear as their personal army since taking down alduin marks them as strongest alive. summerset isle doesnt stand much of a chance against dragon fire.

  • @djnikhedonia

    One thing I've always found about the result of the Civil War is that if the Stormcloaks do win, it won't be Skyrim (and possibly Hammerfell) vs. the Aldmeri Dominion, it'll just be half of Skyrim. Maybe not even that, if Ulfric and most of the other Stormcloaks' blatant racism is anything to go by. On the other hand, if the Empire win, it'd still be half of Skyrim doing the fighting, but because the Empire is in charge, they can get allies from all of the other Imperial controlled provinces.
    Plus, if you look at unit diversity, Stormcloak Skyrim and Hammerfell would be mainly Redguards and Nords, both of which are races that primarily focus on physical strength. Imperial Skyrim would have the Nords, Morrowind's magical Dunmer, Cyrodiil and High Rock's diverse Imperials and Bretons, as well as possibly gaining back the support (or at least forging a temporary alliance) with the Argonians of Black Marsh and the Redguards of Hammerfell. This doesn't even include the Bosmer, Orsimer, Khajiit or any of the other races of Tamriel, who could easily see benefits from assisting the Empire. Their opposition would be the Aldmeri Thalmor, who mainly use magic with very few exceptions. The Empire alliance would easily trump the Dominion with both numbers and the ability to be more diverse.
    Of course, no war is truly as clear cut as this, and heavy casualties would still be felt on both sides. If the Stormcloaks do win, I can almost imagine Ulfric ordering a wall to be built in The Rift to border Cyrodiil... and declaring that the Imperials will pay for it.

    first: great video, good points raised, it definitely made me reconsider that stuff.
    But in my personal version of the historical outcome it is set like this. (i sided with the stormcloaks):
    after the civil war is over and the stormcloaks have won ulfric became high king for the moot elected him. and as you predicted he was terrible. totaly incompetend of buildimg up the country and making skyrim great again, folks it's happening ;)
    but while the king was not able to handle the lands problems, there was one: the dragonborn ( in my case a Nord, greatsword, heavy armor yoi get it). he, as high thane (meamimg he is the thane of every hold) and his friends he gathered on his adventures were more near the folk and solved many of its problems or even better, encouraging the people to face their problems. that brought Thoralf (Dragonborn) a very good Reputation, he was the hero of skyrim in nearly every regard and the folk loved him and followed him willingly. he and his friends like e.g brunwulf freewinter de-established the racist attitude towards dunmer, argonians and khajits.
    Ulfric saw this growing influence and the control slipping out of his fingers and thought it was treason and went mad abput it making his politics even worse and extreme. thats why a year after the coronation ulfric accused thoralf of treason and challenged him. thoralf did not want tonfight his high king but when the throne kidnapped his wife and children, it was ober. raging like a battering ram the two fought it out in the palace of kings. the dragonborn after all did not wamt to kill his opponent but more make a clear sign so the defeated ulfric but let him alive.
    the title of high king was taken away from ulfric and the jarls came together once again to elect a new king. the problem was that the best candidate; the dragonborn was not a jarls thus not able to take the throne. the jarls asked the wise greybeards for advice and the said: "hear what the folk wants". thoralf, respectet by nearly everyone in skyrim was granted the title of high king. Being a good and belobed king who knew to unite the different folks of skyrim under his banner, he knew the points discussed in this video, so he e.g send diplomats to cyrodiil whose emperor unfortunately was killed by the dark brotherhood (but not by thoralf). there the council listened to the nord diplomats because they heard of thoralf beimg engaged in the process of sendimg the imperial troops from skyrim back home instead of killing them. the nagotiations were long and complicated but in the end skyrim had an alliance with cyrodiil, hammerfell and highrock but being self ruled and lawed. thanks to that the situation remained relatively stable.
    there you have it: a good compromise between skyrims independence and the stabilizing effect of a "united"empire. thenpeople of skyrim habe free choice of religion but still have the options in terms of trade society etc. Thats my personal story thanks for reading:)

    8:04 If the Stormcloaks take Fort Neugrad you can visit there and find a message from the commander warning about an Imperial army massing south of Pale Pass - so yes, they would've invaded
    Also, the only entity "forcing" the Orcs to live in isolated settlements is Malacath
    As for who would be more ready for a war between the Empire with a reunited Skyrim and the Dominion... the Empire would be at an advantage, considering that the Altmer have very low birth rates and practice eugenics (9 of every 10 babies killed at birth) and seems to be still active given what Ondolemar says if you ask him if he was born in Markarth

    You act like other nations would work with skyrim, but no one besides the empire no one works with the nords, and if skyrim seperates, the other nations don't like them anyway so why help them?
    Bretons? The Reach was taken back from them, so they dislike Nords
    Redguards? Still hate nords over them invading in the Third era
    Orcs? similar to the nords, but they fill the ranks of the empire mostly and the empire saved their survivors during the recent sacking of Orsinium.
    Dunmer? The High King of skyrim gave them Solstheim after red mountain blew, those that fled to Ulfric's windhelm were mistreated and looked down on by the rest of the stormcloaks. so yeah, empire for them.
    Bosmer? stuck with the dominion for now, but don't seem to care for anyone else and probably hate the dominion too because of their purging of their people.
    Argonians? don't care for anyone
    Altmer? lol
    Khajiit? don't care for anyone either

    My ideal scenario:
    An independent Skyrim, at peace with and allied to a Cyrodiilic Kingdom. The Empire should be dissolved, and replaced with some sort of Federation or Coalition. I don't like large Imperialistic authoritarian Empires, I much prefer loose coalitions and alliances of independent nations.
    The Nords and the Imperials should go their separate ways as independent nations, but recognise that a close military and economic alliance is in their mutual interes.

    I really hate when people read the Thalmor "asset" notes or the "institute asset" notes. Being an Assent doesn not mean you are an agent, for example say I'm a trader and someone in a white lab coat comes up to me and ask "what can you tell me about diamond city. Any new people in town?, I can make it worth your while" *jingles bottles caps*
    They are an asset because they have provided information the the past, rember YOu a 210 stranger can get a lot of info out of traders just as easily.
    Same thing here, Ulfric never worked witht he Thalmor but they could use him INDIRECTLY to further their goals and he continues to be maluable INDIRECTLY

    • @CuppaLLX
      @CuppaLLX 8 років тому

      again Asset is different from Agent. If remember in that same dosier they also say their tortured him and told that the city had apready fallen. the entire Dosier goes into detail how they had to use round about tactics . You need to understand context, a "cooperative asset" after you torture somone means that you have broken them and can manipulate them. It doesn not mean their an alley just that you have found out how to get past their defenses. The people at Gitanim and Aschuwits were Cooperative assests, they wern't ACTIVLY trying to oppose you. Thus "cooperative"

    • @CuppaLLX
      @CuppaLLX 8 років тому +2

      and again your missing the subtext of war, yes they made contact but that does not mean he worked for the thalmor, I'm contacting you right now, are you working for me? Rember the Thalmore are in it for the long haul. They live hundreds of years while men (nord, Redguard, imperial) are lucky to SEE 100. many of the Thalmor offical would have been commanding troops in the Third era. Rmber skyrim only takes pace in 201 Era, that's on average 3 or 4 generations for most Men but for Mer? Most of then would have lived through the Oblivion Crisis, Thalmor included.
