I'm a tiny bit of 1-4 with impostor syndrome as i didn't start running untill very late. Having worked through the 'why do this?,this is torture' i actually really enjoy it now. This year to work on my consistency 😎
Love races. Being a solo runner I like being part of something occasionally and seeing how I measure up. It's all part of the fun and helps keep me moving with a bit more determination. The goal post can change with age which is great as well. At the very least just getting out there is the goal!!! As long as I'm running I'm happy enough.
You have me down to a tee as a recreational runner the only thing I would say is when you say "Progress" on to other category. I don't see the others as progressed but just different. Great video as always.
You managed to see into my soul well enough, I’d certainly be telling a lie to say I wasn’t a competitive runner. It’s funny to look back on life before running, or when it was just a bit of fun isn’t it?
Interesting video. I would say currently I'm in the recreational runner category though in the past I've been both an emerging runner and a competitive runner. I first dabbled in running in my mid 30's around 20 years ago as a means of maintaining fitness at the company I worked for where there was a large group of very keen runners, some of whom were pretty quick. We used to have these handicap races at lunchtime from around 2 miles up to around 5K which were great fun. I didn't really get into running seriously until 2011/12 when I started doing parkruns and the odd race and was amazed how much I improved with some structured training. Sadly from around 2017, I started to injured a lot and other life factors have got in the way of my running progress but I still enjoy running for endorphin rush you get from running. I haven't given up hope though of returning to the 'competitve runner' category. Love your channel by the way, one of my favourites along with Tim Grose and the FOD runner.
Good video idea! Collecting competitor? I like to collect the distances (train specifically for them) and events I think. Still remaining: 1 mile, 3k, 100k, 100 mile. Quite the range!
A good insight. I can say I've done two of those. You won't be surprised with which. Longest I ever did was 60k on a Battle of the Somme 100 year anniversary Ultra. I km for every casualty.
I’m a mix of them all bar the specialist one. I initially used running on a treadmill as a weight loss tool, amongst other things, starting summer 2023, did my first parkrun the end of 2023, got addicted to running all of last year and now I’m hoping to get faster across all 4 main distances this year. I might even try an ultra late this year too
I know people in each of these categories, and at my club there are many social runners too. I guess they may fit into recreational, but with the social aspect being their main reason. No prizes for guessing where I fit in, not at all dissimilar to both of you! 😊
Good video, I’m more the collector/ Competitive runner, Started running when I got older 48 did my first half marathon, compete against myself but like being with other people in races, helps me be more motivated to be a better runner, but more than races & competition I like trail running, keep up the good work, keep on keeping on 👏🦌🪵🏃🏽♂️👣😀🌲✅

Give it full beans this year
Definitely competitive runner forever chasing something
It's a great way to be.

Great thoughts.

@@Reducedpricemeal definitely can't imagine life without running now. 🙂

It's interesting how running can wax and wane around life factors. Thank you for the kind comments. Two outstanding channels there.

I'm sticking myself into the recreational category. 👍 Probably the one I can most relate too. Interesting idea for a video guys. 😎🤘
Thanks Ben. Very fast for recreational there!

@v6i838 Good luck, and keep on keeping on! 👍💪
I missed the category Addicted..;) Addicted to running for more than 40 years. In the first somewhat 30 years Competitive, now Recreational..😄
Good category. Well done on keeping going.
Gone through 1 and 2 pretty mutch unplanned never set out to become a firm 4 with a little bit of 3 thrown in with parkrun aims.

@josephgonzalez_ Yes, that's a good category. We know a few social runners at our club.
I'm becoming more of an Emerging runner.
Keep on keep on emerging.
I’m a collector/competitive combo 😀
Yes it seems many are. What do you collect?
@ Races, Parkruns, Hills & football stadiums 😂
@AlastairCunningham-g4z cricket autographs here 😀
