"ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT" (ukulele cover)

- A song written by Roy Turk and Lou Handman in 1926 and recorded several times in 1927. In 1960, it was recorded by Elvis Presley on his release from the Army. The original version included a spoken bridge, based on lines in Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci" and Shakespeare's "As You Like It." (For a week on The Seasons where we are covering every emotion beginning with "S" .. this song represents sadness.)

Thank you . . . thank you very much Val.
Thanks so much for the listen, Jim!
I've never heard the spoken bridge. I learn something every day. Thanks for educating me, Val!
I had never heard that spoken bridge either, I only came across it by accident when I was "researching!" Many thanks for the listen, Sabine!
As others mentioned, thank you for including the spoken portion! Well done, Val!
Many thanks, Clark!
Never heard the spoken section before. It really adds to the song. Very nicely done.
Thanks so much, Andrew!
Fine performance, great to hear the spoken section.
Thanks so much, Ylle ... that spoken section came as a complete surprise to me!
It's cool to hear the spoken section! It's like they were afraid singing is not taken seriously, so Roy and Lou needed to include the speaking part as well. ("Listen, kid, if you are lonesome, better drop me a text message straightaway!" 😅) Lovely bring, Val. Thank you!
Many thanks, Joo! (I've a vague idea that I read that the song had been written by a couple of ex-vaudevillians ... perhaps it seemed natural to them to add the spoken word.0
Beautiful version Lil!✨🎶
Very many thanks!
Lovely Val, I think you could have been on stage….maybe you are/were.
Hehe ... thank you, John! (I've never been on the stage, apart from the school nativity play ... I just enjoy being melodramatic!) Many thanks for the listen.
Who knew it had the spoken section? Glad Elvis didn't do that bit. I am not sure he'd ahve done it in a convincing way.
I never got Elvis... though I did like "In the Ghetto"
Yes ... I never "got" Elvis, either! Many thanks for the listen, Berni!
